Jade wasn't sure how long she had been out but she woke up with a headache and she was a bit disoriented. She tried to stand up and walk to the door but she found an invisible wall surrounding her, preventing her from getting off the couch.
"No way!" Jade yelled as she punched the wall out of frustration.
She couldn't even apparate out as there was an anti-apparition spell all around Hogwarts. She struggled for a while, she was sweating but she was still trapped. She was starting to get really frustrated and annoyed.
"You!" Jade yelled as she saw a boy younger than her walking down the stairs. "I need help. Do you have your wand?"
"Yes, why?"
Jade then told the boy, who was probably in third year, to point his wand at the sofa, repeat a spell and flick his wand in a certain way. It took the boy three attempts but he broke it, Jade was freed.
"Thank you!" Jade exclaimed as she got off the sofa and rushed to the stairs, then turned around. "Whatever you do, don't go outside, okay?"
"Why?"
"There is a werewolf on the loose," Jade said not knowing it was kind of true.
Jade ran upstairs to her dorm and grabbed her wand. She was silly for leaving it behind earlier. She wasn't sure how long it had been but she needed to do something, to help Draco if she could.
Jade rushed out of the Common Room and carefully ran up the stairs. She didn't want to bump into anyone, including Peeves, prefects and possibly Harry and Ron. But in just a couple of minutes she realized none of those people were the real issue. There were Death Eaters inside Hogwarts.
She took another set of stairs to avoid some of them and somehow got to the fifth floor without surprises or delays, there she saw Ron. Jade hexed the Death Eater he was fighting and then grabbed Ron by his shirt and pulled him into an empty hallway.
"What's going on?"
"Something is going on in the Astronomy Tower, or so I heard," Ron told her. "The Dark Mark is right above it."
"Do you know if someone's there?"
"No idea."
"Is anyone dead?"
"Not sure."
"Are you okay?"
"Yes, you?" Jade nodded.
Jade, without another word, ran deeper into the hallway. She knew a way around to the Astronomy Tower. It was longer but she wouldn't be stopped or seen by Death Eaters or teachers or students. She didn't know for sure if Draco was there but she could only assumed he was.
Jade hadn't been eating or resting well and she hadn't exercised as much the last couple of months, so when she finally stopped in front of the spiral staircase she was so out of breath. She took a second to recover and then went up as quietly as possible. She opened the door without making a sound and walked in with her wand ready.
Jade saw two people there. Draco, pointing his wand with a shaking hand. And Professor Dumbledore, who was standing against the ramparts. He was very pale and he looked exhausted and frail.
For a few moments, there was silence. The room gleamed with a light shade of green from the Dark Mark that was, as Ron said, right above the Astronomy tower.
"Draco, you are not a killer," Dumbledore said.
"How do you know?" Draco asked in a defensive way. "You don't know what I'm capable of! You don't know what I've done."
"Oh yes I do. You almost killed Katie Bell and Ronald Weasley. You have been trying, with increasing desperation to kill me all year. Forgive me, Draco, but they have been feeble attempts... so feeble that I wonder whether your heart has been really in it."
Then a muffled yell got the attention of the three of them. Jade couldn't tell who had yelled, if it was a Death Eater or not. Luckily, Dumbledore and Draco hadn't seen her yet. She was quite frozen in her spot, she couldn't move. She was just listening.
Dumbledore even suggested Draco to do his job before his 'friends' could join. But Draco didn't do or say anything, he just stared at Dumbledore.
"I see," the old man said. "You are afraid to act until they join you."
"I'm not afraid!" Draco snarled. "It's you who should be scared!"
"Why? I don't think you will kill me, Draco. So tell me, how did you smuggle them in here? It seems to have taken you a long time to work out how to do it."
"I had to mend the Broken Vanishing Cabinet that no one's used for years. The one Bletchley got lost in last year."
"That was clever, there's a pair, I take it?"
"In Borgin and Burkes," Draco said. "I was the one who realized there could be a way into Hogwarts through the cabinets if I fixed the broken one."
"But you didn't fix it," Dumbledore wasn't asking, he seemed sure of it.
"I did!"
"Miss Lias assisted you, though." At that Jade froze. "She took over the task and did most of the job. She even got you the right spell to fix the last thing that was wrong with it, am I right?" Draco seemed like he was going to be sick. He looked down, unsure. "You weren't sure you were going to succeed before she helped you, so you resorted to crude and badly judged measures such as sending me a cursed necklace and poisoning mead... both were bound to reach the wrong hands."
"Well, you didn't realize who was behind it, did you?"
"I did, I was in fact sure it was you."
"Then, why didn't you stop me?"
"I tried, Snape's been watching you on my orders. But you must have had an accomplice, someone in Hogsmeade... someone who was able to slip Katie the..." Dumbledore didn't finish the sentence, and it seemed like he finally understood something. "Rosmerta, of course. She's been under the Imperius Curse. Tell me, how have you been communicating with her?
"Enchanted coins," Draco said, his hand was shaking even more. It was then when Jade finally managed to move a little closer to Draco, still undetected. "I had one and she had the other and I sent her messages. I got the idea from that Mud-blood Granger." Dumbledore instantly told him to not use that word. "You care about me saying Mud-blood but not that I'm about to kill you?"
"You've had several minutes, we are alone. I couldn't be more defenceless and still you haven't acted."
"I've got no options!" Jade noticed how much paler he got. "I've got to do it, he'll kill me!"
"Why else do you think I haven't confronted you? I knew you'd have been murdered if Lord Voldemort realized I suspected you. I didn't dare speak of your mission in case he used Legilimency against you."
Then Jade jumped when there was a loud bang underneath them. Louder than the others, luckily, Jade wasn't heard or seen yet. But she knew that the people down there were approaching and Draco had to hurry or...
"No harm has been done, Draco. Your unintentional victims survived," Dumbledore continued. "I can help you, Draco."
"No, you can't," Draco said, his voice breaking, Jade could easily tell. "Nobody can. He told me to do it or he'll kill me. He'll kill my family... and... Jade. I've got no choice."
Jade felt sick. Draco hadn't told her that. He told her there was a chance he could have seen her in his mind but so far, he didn't know how close Draco and she were. It seemed Draco kept that little detail from her.
"We can hide you...and Jade. I can send members of the Order to your mother tonight to hide her likewise. Your father is safe at the moment in Azkaban. We can protect him too when the time comes. You are not a killer."
Draco attempted to strike but his hand was shaking now more than ever, even his legs were shaking now. Jade knew Dumbledore was right, he wouldn't be able to complete his mission.
"But..." Jade said, finally revealing herself, standing next to Draco with her hand raised, pointing her wand at Dumbledore. Her eyes were filled with tears but not a single one fell. "... Maybe I am."
"Jade, get out!" Draco shouted at her but Jade shook her head, not daring to look at him.
"Jade..." Dumbledore said surprised. For a moment, he looked scared for the first time. "I must say I'm perplexed by your abilities. Fixing that cabinet in just a couple of weeks."
"Draco did it," she said quickly, not wanting to steal his glory, like he claimed Snape was trying to do.
"Right... Jade I know you don't want this. I can hide you both, I can help you."
"You can't help me," Jade said. "There's a prophecy about my death. I can't be saved. I will eventually die."
"You are only making it more possible this way."
"No... he'll hate me. You know he will. When he finds out I did it. I think this is the way to prevent our deaths or at least his," Jade said, referring to Harry. "If I can save both," she said, now referring to Draco and Harry. "Then I don't mind if I die. It will be worth it."
"Leo..." Dumbledore suddenly said, referring to the baby of the prophecy. "Do you know why was that name chosen for the boy?"
"No, why?"
"It means Lion. His father named him that after a very brave Gryffindor woman with a similar name, Leonie," Dumbledore told her. That made her blink several times and a couple of tears fell from her brownish eyes, despite her efforts. "Jade..."
"Well, I'm a Slytherin," she said quickly, suddenly, she got angry. "You made sure of that! I'm not brave or courageous."
"Seconds ago you said you didn't mind if you died saving two boys," Dumbledore said. "That's being brave. That's why you are here, trying to save the most important person to you, no matter the cost. But Jade, I can hide you both. I can help you. None of you have to die."
"Only you," Jade whispered.
"Jade!" Draco exclaimed loudly, he was looking from Dumbledore to Jade, and back to Dumbledore. Unlike him, Jade's hand wasn't trembling and despite her eyes showing remorse, she also showed she had made up her mind. She was going to do it. Draco wanted to take her wand but he couldn't move. He couldn't even speak.
"I'm sorry," Jade muttered with more tears falling down her pale face. "Avada Ke..."
It was then when they heard another bang followed by thundering footsteps. The three of them were joined by four Death Eaters. Three men and one woman. Jade didn't recognize a single one, none of them, were at the Ministry last year.
The four Death Eaters seemed to enjoy the view. Dumbledore cornered and wandless. It took them probably two minutes to finally notice Jade.
"Got company, Draco?" the woman, called Alecto, said, having a close look at Jade. She was terrified but her famous joker face was on. None of them said anything about her and she was glad. She wondered if anyone knew she was Lexion's sister. "Anyway, do it Draco!"
"He's not long for this world, anyway!" her brother, Amycus said, looking at how terrible Dumbledore looked.
Draco, even with four Death Eaters around him, knowing they could probably do something to Jade to motivate him, to force him to act, still couldn't find the courage to say the words to kill his headmaster. Fenrir Greyback was the one with the least patience and was urging Draco to do it. When Draco didn't move, he said he would. But the fourth Death Eater stopped him. It was then when Jade knew she was too late to help Draco, they wouldn't let her do it, and if she did, Draco would be in trouble, anyway. She wished she could have been faster and just do it.
Then there were more steps getting closer, Jade thought there were more Death Eaters coming. Maybe their aunt, Bellatrix or maybe Rabastan or someone else, but to her surprise it was Snape. He stood in between Jade and Draco.
"Severus," Dumbledore pleaded in a soft voice. "Severus... please."
Snape seemed hesitant for a moment. Dumbledore didn't seem scared, he actually looked relieved to see him. Then Snape raised his wand quickly and pointed it at Dumbledore.
"Avada Kedavra!"
Jade had never seen something like it. She was paralyzed in her spot, like Snape and Draco seemed to be too. All she saw was green and then Dumbledore fell backwards, out of the tower.
Then Snape finally broke his trance. He pushed Jade out of the way with force, making her fall down and seized Malfoy by his arm and dragged him to the spiral staircase, the other four Death Eaters followed, not bothering to do anything to Jade. Maybe that's why Snape pushed her so forcefully, so she wouldn't be in the way and get killed.
As soon as they got out of view, Jade finally reacted. She was sobbing and shaking on the floor. She was hugging her knees to her chest. She knew she couldn't follow Draco, and even if she tried, her legs would give in, she was shaking so bad.
Then the sound of footsteps made her look up. Harry had appeared out of thin air or so it seemed. Jade could see the Invisibility Cloak right next to where Harry appeared.
Harry only wasted two seconds looking at Jade, who for once, looked like a scared five-year-old little girl. Then Harry reacted and ran after them. She could hear him say 'Petrificus Totalus!' and a loud thud.
Jade could hear distant signs of struggle, bangs and steps but she didn't know what was going on exactly. Not only she was unable to move from shock and fear but she also didn't know what to do. She wouldn't help Death Eaters and attack her friends but she wouldn't really attack the Death Eaters as Draco was with them.
Jade didn't know how much time passed, she heard a lot of destruction happing on the Hogwarts Grounds and then everything got quiet. She even heard the beautiful sound coming from Dumbledore's phoenix, it was mourning him. That made Jade cry more.
Even when it stopped, even when there was nothing but silence, Jade still didn't dare to move. Lots of emotions were going through her, the two most powerful were fear and guilt. She was scared for Draco's life as in the end, he didn't really complete his mission and four Death Eater had seen her. And just the thought of actually trying to kill someone was horrifying to Jade. She had said the words, had pointed her wand at him... if the Death Eaters hadn't walked in when they did, she would have probably done it instead of Snape.
She did get sick when she imagined what would have happened if they hadn't interrupted them when they did. If Snape hadn't done it. She would have crossed a line she didn't want to cross ever but at that moment she wasn't even thinking, she was just acting because Draco's life was on the line.
Jade heard footsteps, she looked up and saw Harry again. He had gone back to get his Invisibility Cloak, he was actually quite shock to see Jade still there.
"You knew all along!" Harry accused her.
"No, I didn't," Jade whispered.
"I told you I suspected him, all I had heard and you were just covering for him!" Harry shouted.
"It wasn't like that."
"You probably told him everything I was telling you."
"No, I would never..."
"You - You even tried to kill him."
"I know," Jade whispered and looked down at the floor, crying harder.
Harry left without another word. Jade saw him go down the staircase. In a way she was devastated but in another she was relieved. Harry could never fall in love with her, the prophecy wouldn't come true now. He hated her now, so he would never risk his life to save her.
About an hour later, she heard footsteps again. It was Tonks. She didn't look accusingly at her. Jade didn't exactly remember how she ended up in the Hospital Wing. Tonks must have carried her or at least made her go somehow but it was blank.
There, she saw Neville and Lupin in bed. They didn't look too bad. She also saw a redhead man she had seen before, Bill, Ron's brother, but it was hard to recognize him as his face had been slashed and he was unconscious.
Mr. and Mrs. Weasley were there and Fleur too. Mrs. Weasley walked to her but she didn't want to talk... what would she say? That she in fact tried to kill Dumbledore and everyone should stay away from her? It was true and she wouldn't deny it but right now she didn't have the strength to speak.
Later, when it was already light outside, Jade was asked to go to what used to be Dumbledore's office. When she walked in she saw McGonagall there. Slughorn and Lupin were there too.
"Take a seat, Miss Lias." Jade did as she was told. She looked and acted as a zombie. She was still in shock. "Potter told us the story of what happened last night and said you were also there. Can you tell us Miss Lias what happened? Why were you there?"
"I... yes, I was in the Astronomy Tower. I played a role. I was involved. Just expel me, I deserve it," Jade said, a tear slipped from her eye but she quickly wiped it away.
"Miss Lias... I need the whole story. From the start."
"Do they have to be here?" Jade asked, glancing at Slughorn and Lupin. "No offense but I would feel more comfortable without them here, or at least Professor Slughorn."
McGonagall didn't look happy but she told Slughorn to wait outside. Jade listened as he walked outside and closed the door behind him.
"Harry already told you about what happened but can I ask you if... personal details of me to not be shared with other people?"
"Very well," McGonagall said. "We won't tell anything personal to others."
"Everything is my fault, Professor... I knew of the plan... of the mission. Draco couldn't fix the Vanishing Cabinet and I did it for him, I didn't want him to die. It is my fault Death Eaters got inside the school," Jade said. She was so nervous, she was telling the story in a messy way and Lupin and McGonagall weren't really following. "You might not believe me but Draco had no choice. He threatened him to kill his family and him, he didn't want this! He's just a boy, Professor! And I knew he was failing so I... lend him a hand."
"Did he ask you?" Lupin asked her. "To help him?"
"No. He actually yelled at me and pushed me away when he found out I had intervene. He didn't want me to be a part of this. Anyway, when I realized what was happening tonight I went to the Astronomy Tower... I don't even know why, I just knew I had to be there for Draco."
Jade kept being questioned and she answered to everything Lupin and McGonagall asked. But she kept some parts to herself as she didn't truly believe that McGonagall wouldn't tell the rest of the Order of the Phoenix certain things that she didn't want other people to know.
Jade was finally dismissed. Jade stayed in bed after that, she didn't bother to do anything else. Not like it mattered as classes and examinations had been suspended.
For Dumbledore's funeral, Jade didn't even dare to leave her dorm. She didn't deserve to be there. She had tried to kill him, she wasn't brave as Dumbledore had said. She was evil, like her parents, like her uncles, like her brother. She had nothing to do at a funeral of such a wise and kind man.
Jade packed her things while everyone was at the funeral and got dressed in normal clothes. As she packed, she noticed she was one shirt and one skirt short. She never got her blood-stained uniform and she didn't care, but it brought bad memories.
Later, Jade walked to where the carriages were waiting, she didn't want to meet anyone's eyes so she was looking down at the ground, and because of that she didn't notice something. She got inside the carriage, she kept looking down at her hands as the other people got in and joined her. It wasn't until the carriage was moving that she finally looked up and at last noticed something that actually made her scream really loud.
The three young Hufflepuff girls that were sharing the carriage with her jumped from fear. One of them asked her what was wrong but Jade didn't answer right away.
"Uh, I... I'm okay," she whispered.
But she wasn't. There in front of her she could see two horrible-looking horse-like creatures with wings pulling the carriage and as she looked behind her, she saw two more of those creatures pulling another carriage.
Thestrals.
If Hagrid hadn't given them that class last year and if Luna hadn't explained in detail how they looked, Jade wouldn't have known what these creatures were. Seeing them only made her feel even worse and she got flashbacks of the green light... of Dumbledore falling down...
Once inside the Hogwarts Express, Jade got to the very last compartment and locked it with a spell. She didn't want anyone to find her or to get inside and share it with her. She wanted to be alone.
She was falling asleep when she heard the door being opened despite the three spells she had used. When she looked up she saw a brunet and a redhead. She sat up straight.
"Can you leave, please?" Jade asked.
"No," Ron said as he sat in front of her.
"What do you want? Yell at me? Blame me? Like Harry did..." Jade said in a cold tone.
"No. I came to ask questions but not to yell or blame you. I know you, Jade. Two years ago you were shaking and crying from the shock of knowing that your parents were Death Eaters. Last year you decided to fight with us even when your brother was part of the group of Death Eaters at the Ministry. I know you."
"What about you? Do you know me too?" Jade snapped at the brunet, tall boy.
"Not too good," Neville admitted. "But I know you are not a bad person."
"Just leave, please."
"We want to know what happened."
"Why? What difference would it make? I was there, I didn't help Dumbledore. Quite the opposite."
"The difference is that..." Ron said grabbing Jade's left hand and with a quick movement, pulled the sleeve up, revealing her arm. No Mark was there as Ron expected. "...You aren't a Death Eater, you aren't evil. You are agaisnt evil." Jade quickly jerked her arm from his grip, and pulled her sleeve down. She then crossed her arms in front of her. "Harry can say anything and I believe him but I know that's not the whole story, that there's more to it. There is, isn't it?"
"I already told McGonagall the story... I don't want to repeat it."
"I would say that you told her part of the story. And I want the full story. We are friends, I want to help you."
"We aren't friends and you can't help me."
"At least tell me what happened... And I'll go. I won't tell anyone. Neville won't, either. We won't bother you again if you want that... We'll leave you alone."
"It's a long story," Jade whispered.
"Well, it's a long ride, isn't it?" Jade sighed.
"Why do you think I'm not evil?"
"Three years have been enough to know you well. Someone who is evil wouldn't have escaped her house and go to mine when her house was filled with Death Eaters. You would have stayed. So, Jade, how did everything start?"
"My involvement started around April, I think. I was doing a lot of research to help Draco. He didn't really tell me what he had to do. He refused but I still tried to help."
"Did Draco tell you he was a Death Eater?" Ron asked and Jade nodded.
"Two days before my birthday, he explained he felt awful about pushing me away and all the things he said but he wanted me safe. Told me he was being threatened and used as a punishment for Lucius' failure last year, Voldemort asked Draco to do something, at the time I didn't know what it was. You should probably be thinking that I should have stayed away from him but when someone you care about tells you they might get killed, and their family, you try to help," Jade muttered. "Draco tried to keep me out of what he was doing. Wouldn't tell me anything, I was blindly helping him. I didn't even know what I was really looking for. I remembered that Goyle and Crabbe were using Polyjuice potion so I made some for them. I didn't tell Draco how I knew, that you had discovered his secret. I just said Goyle mentioned it. I tried to get into the Room of Requirement like Harry was but it wouldn't open. I wanted a clue of what was happening. And the clues I was getting from Crabbe and Goyle weren't enough."
"So... how did you know what to do?" Neville asked this time.
"When Harry attacked Draco, I thought I lost him. It was then when I knew I had to do more. Get more involved. My little gift was still uncontrollable, I spent hours with crabbe and Goyle and even when they didn't know exactly what Draco was doing, when I asked them stuff they would think of things Draco had told them and I listened and got more clues and ideas that way," Jade said.
"Wait... what gift?"
"I can get into people's mind, Neville. So, I could easily get information from those two without having them or Draco telling me."
"Why not listening to Malfoy's thoughts? Wouldn't that be easier?"
"Because I've never been able to, I don't know why. Anyway, with that information I went to the seventh floor and finally got to the Room of Requirement. I found the Vanishing Cabinet and tried to fix it with normal common spells but they wouldn't work. I spent hours, even days, in the library, trying to find something useful. Well, it took several different spells to fix it, as many parts were broken and each part required a different spell, a different process. It took me so long to work out and find the right spells and order of each part, but I fixed it... it just needed one more spell to sort of get everything together and make it work. I didn't do it. I gave it to Draco, knowing he would want to do it. He got furious when he found out I stepped in. That I got involved. I suspected what it would do but I really didn't know he would let Death Eaters in the school. It wasn't like I thought about it, I just wanted to save his life. That's what I was thinking about all the time. His life."
"Why did you start avoiding us?" Ron asked.
"That's another long story," Jade said.
"Okay, then finish the first one."
"I didn't know it was happening that day or what it was supposed to happen. Draco tried to prevent me from going, locking me in the common room. But after I bumped into you that night, I went to the Astronomy Tower. I saw Dumbledore and Draco. I heard him say he had to kill him."
"Or You-Know-Who would kill him and his family."
"And me," Jade whispered. "I didn't know until then. Draco did mention that Bellatrix had gotten into his head and saw things about us. Didn't specify but said we were safe. I don't know if she did tell Voldemort or if he saw it himself and Draco just hid it from me. I heard Draco telling Dumbledore lots of things, things I didn't know, and when I saw them I realized Draco wouldn't be able to do it. So, I tried to do it. No one was there, I could have done it, leave and Draco could pretend he did it. I didn't want him killed. I once said I would never kill an innocent person... but... I almost did... Snape walked in and did it. Don't you see? I was willing to do it...I almost killed him. I'm evil... like my family."
"You are not evil, Jade," Ron told her. "An evil person wouldn't be crying right now. You didn't kill him and still guilt is eating you up. Jade... Harry mentioned something else after the funeral, like if he had just remembered... he said that you mentioned to Dumbledore about a prophecy, about your death."
"The prophecy that Neville found last year with my name... Dumbledore heard it. He told me about it. I don't know if it's time for you or Harry to know but yeah, it's quite horrible. It says I'd die soon. Dumbledore gave me instructions to try to prevent it as I wouldn't be the only one dying."
"Who else would die?" Neville asked.
"You, actually... Harry... along with hundreds of people. Wizards and Muggles. So you can imagine how important it is to prevent it. Right? That's when my gift disappeared. I lost it. Too much stress. And I got it back but in a horrible way when I got more stress."
"Did you ever tell Malfoy what Harry thought? That he knew he was in the Room of Requirement?"
"No. I didn't tell Draco anything. You were my friends and he is my friend too... I got all this information from both sides and I had to keep it in. I felt like I was betraying Draco for not telling him and at the same time I felt like I would betray you both if I told him. I kept my distance from you so I wouldn't get so much information, I couldn't deal with it anymore."
"Was that it?"
"No... I also knew Harry was into me. He liked me. I do remember he almost kissed me before Christmas... I told him I didn't remember, though. I'm not sure if he told you about it... So, that's also why I stopped spending time with him"
"So you knew?" Ron asked. Jade nodded.
"It was quite obvious and I sort of know he was thinking of our almost kiss quite often. I tried not to get into his head but I couldn't control it and then you started to tell me Harry would be good for me and I thought he had sent you..."
"He didn't," Ron said quickly. "I did that on my own, thought I would help. So you didn't like him back?"
"It's not really that... We just don't belong together. It wouldn't work."
"So you do like him?"
"I think I started to like him at some point but then everything got complicated and then it was all gone... Maybe it was just the aftermath of almost kissing him, you know? Not real feelings."
"What about Malfoy?"
"What about him?"
"Did you get back with him?"
"I wanted to... I still have feelings for him. He said we couldn't, if Voldemort knew, he would use me as he was using his family. Our situation is hard to explain. Like we aren't together... but we still act as we were at times and we still have feelings for each other."
"What are you going to do?"
"Go home, I guess."
"And follow the plan?" Ron asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Finish school, end up with Perseus when you finish it," Ron said and Jade opened her eyes wide, glancing at Neville, who didn't know anything. "Producing a heir and live a miserable life? Maybe even being forced into what your uncles and aunt want?"
"Well, I can't run away now, can I? The person I was going to run away with, now thinks it's too dangerous and we would die. But he still wants me to get out even if he can't. Like you told me once, Cass is a good guy. He is my friend and treats me right. Many others have it worse."
"Yes and I also said that you should take that step for you and only you not a guy. Maybe Malfoy won't take the step with you now but why does that mean you shouldn't do it alone? You just said he wants you to take it, so do it."
"I'm scared," Jade admitted. "And I don't know how."
"You could come to my house," Ron said and Jade laughed for the first time in weeks.
"Right. Your mother would love to have me there. The person who attempted to kill Dumbledore. Oh and when Harry comes for a visit as he always does, we would scream at each other all day long, maybe try to hex each other. Yeah, that would be fun."
"Harry is just hurt. He's lost so many people. He saw you there and won't listen for a while but he'll eventually come around."
"Yeah, when I get locked up in Azkaban."
"No..." Ron said quickly. "You are in shock and denial. You want answers. You want to be away from us because you are scared that we are too good and you aren't. But you are good. My family also believes it. Even Hermione does, Neville too and Luna," Ron told her. "You can't stay in your house. You know what will happen. You told me yourself. So, when you are ready, and I hope it won't be too late, I expect to see you in my house. You'll always be welcome there. I hope that when you get off the train you come with me but I understand if you don't."
"I told you I tried to kill Dumbledore and you want to help me?" Jade asked perplexed.
"You are a victim, Jade. I see it that way. And my family does too. And as we promised, we'll leave you alone," Ron said standing up. "Remember, you are welcome at my house, Jade."
"Thanks, Ron."
Ron and Neville stood up and left. Jade didn't bother to lock the door again. She just lied down and fell asleep.
Hello guys, what do you think of this long chapter?
Also, do you think I should finish the story here and start part 2 in a different book? Or just make one long book?
I've been injured so I wasn't in the mood to do anything, I was sad and worried. But I managed to make a new video about Merlin & Morgana! Link down here! :D
