Braxton House

"Have you noticed anything different with Heath?" Ricky asks, not able to work it out.

"Yeah, he's being strangely happy." Brax nods. "Lucas said Heath and Kyle spoke when they were all at the diner the other day, maybe that's got something to do with it."

"Yeah it could do." Ricky nods. "Anyway, we need to have a chat about all of this wedding planning."

"What about it? I thought you said we were back on track with it all." Brax says.

"We are. There's just one part that hasn't been done yet." Ricky says, smiling at him.

"Which is?"

"You haven't told your best man about his duties." Ricky says. "Don't think I haven't forgotten about the fact that you're trying to annoy them longer."

"I'm not trying to annoy them, I just know they're curious to find out. You haven't told anyone who your maid of honour is." Brax says.

"Yes I have and they know." Ricky says, raising an eyebrow. "I told you this last night. So who did I choose, Brax?"

"I'll go and tell them know, will that make you happy?" Brax asks. "And it was Bianca. I just didn't know you told her cause I thought you were waiting for me to talk to the boys."

"Okay, I'll have to take your word for it. Now go and tell them, I've got some bridal things to do with Bianca. I want them to know by tonight or I will go with you to do it because the suits need to be ready in time." Ricky grins as her maid of honour walks through the door.

"Hey, are you ready to go?" Bianca asks.

"I sure am." Ricky nods.

"What're you doing?" Brax frowns.

"Girl stuff." Bianca says, smiling as she pulls Ricky out of the door.

Surf Club - Angelo's

"So your counselling session went great this morning." Brax says to his brother.

"Yeah, it went great. Alex says I'm making great progress, but I'm to continue taking the meds as usual for a while longer. He also said I can start increasing my hours here if I felt like I would be okay with it." Kyle says.

"Would you mind if I said no?" Brax asks, noticing Kyle's face. "I just don't want you pushing yourself too quickly. You've barely been in your counselling sessions a week and I feel like it's being rushed. Plus I've got a proposition for you."

"No, I wouldn't mind having more time to work through things. It's been great having time to myself." Kyle agrees. "What's the proposition?"

"Well it's not quite a proposition, I just need your help." Brax says. "Ricky said I have to have my best man sorted by tonight and I'm going to be honest, I have no idea who I want."

"I thought you had decided?" Kyle frowns.

"I just said that to keep Ricky off my back. I didn't think she'd be so bossy about the fact the suits haven't been sorted yet. She said she'll make me sort it tonight if I don't." Brax says, lightly rolling his eyes.

"Right." Kyle scoffs. "So why don't you do a pros and cons list? Or think about who's been there for you the most."

"You don't think I haven't tried that?"

"Right, so that's what you want my help with." Kyle nods, now understanding. "So we've only got two people to choose from, being Heath and Casey."

"What about you?"

"I thought we agreed I was out of the running because I hadn't been here long and I'm the worst at giving speeches? Plus Heath and Casey have known you a lot longer and would be able to say more good things. Unless you want me to include in my speech about how we first met? You knocking me out and then being very close to murdering me." Kyle says with a smirk. "You'd have the police on your backs again."

"Yeah, okay." Brax scoffs. "So if you were me, who would you choose?"

"It's not meant to be my choice, they'd be your best man." Kyle says.

"Come on, Kyle. Just help me out here! I'm not good with this stuff, I was thinking we'd have something small with family but Ricky has invited nearly the whole Bay! I can't stuff this up for her." Brax groans as he starts pacing the office.

"Okay, I'll help. How about we do a question type list?" Kyle suggests.

"A what?" Brax frowns.

"I ask you questions and you give me the name that fits it best, I'll write it down and the person you said most would win. It'll make sense when I start." Kyle says. "So first question… Who would you go to if you had a problem that you needed fixing, Heath or Casey?"

"Neither, I'd sort it myself." Brax replies.

"Brax, this isn't going to work if you don't say a name. You wanted help didn't you? And you've also taken me out of my shift for this, so I've left Lucas to deal with the delivery." Kyle complains.

"Okay, I'd probably go to Heath over Casey." Brax says.

"Great. Next one is, who knows you better?"

"Stupid question, they both do." Brax shakes his head, getting a glare from his brother. "Alright, probably Casey. Heath never pays attention to anything."

"Who would you trust more to look after the wedding rings before the ceremony and also to not mess the speech up?"

"Casey, he'd know not to mess up on a day like this." Brax says.

"Okay, final question. Who would plan your stag do better?"

"Definitely Heath, it's probably the thing he'd plan best. So who wins?" Brax asks.

"Uh, it's a tie." Kyle says. "But this doesn't mean it's a bad thing! What I could work out from that is that you would trust both of them, but I think it should be Heath. From what I saw when I first moved here, you did a lot with Heath, well to do with the River Boys mainly. I'm sure you did a lot together as kids, and just because you're close to Casey, I think that's more of a fatherly role than anything else."

"So you think I should choose Heath?" Brax double checks.

"It would make more sense. You grew up with Heath, whereas you brought Casey up. That's a completely different bond you'd have with both of them." Kyle says. "But it's not my choice, you need to think about who you would rather have by your side on a big day like your wedding. No matter who you choose, it doesn't mean you care any less about the other or that they wouldn't play a big part in your wedding."

"Yeah, you've made good points." Brax says, thinking to himself. "Let's just hope they see it that way."

"So who are you choosing?" Kyle asks.

"How about I tell them that first?" Brax smirks as he walks out of the office, seeing the brother he wanted. "I need a word, let's talk on the balcony."

"I've got to get back to the gym."

"Tough, this is more important." Brax says, sitting down at one of the empty tables.

"What's this about?"

"How would you feel about being my best man?" Brax asks.

"Seriously?"

"Yes, seriously. It probably won't go down well with Casey, but I'll deal with that when I come to it." Brax says, knowing he'd want Heath as his best man, and it wasn't like his other brothers wouldn't be there.

"I'd love to bro, but what made you choose me? We were all so sure you'd choose Casey." Heath says.

"So was I until a few minutes ago." Brax says. "I may have needed Kyle's help but without this sounding soppy, we've been through more together. There was a time I thought you turned your back on this family for good, and you proved that you hadn't. You've been great to those boys and I know you'd do anything for them now. You've turned your life around, you've even got a kid on the way and that's something I never thought would happen."

"Well cheers bro. I won't let you down." Heath beams. "So first things first, your stag night-"

"Nothing stupid, I just want a quiet night with no drama. I've got to go and break the news to Casey, and don't think I'm not going to get Kyle or Lucas to keep an eye on you." Brax says as he stands up.

"Keep an eye on me why? I'm their big brother, so I'm the boss." Heath frowns.

"I'm the boss of you and I know you'll make a huge deal of the stag night. I'm going to have them make sure whatever you choose doesn't get out of hand, they're the sensible brothers in this family." Brax says. "Oh and I need you to make sure it can include Kyle, he can't have alcohol with the meds he's on."

"Fine, I'll get them to help me if that would make you happy?" Heath says.

"Yeah, it would. Now get to work." Brax smirks, walking out to find his youngest brother.
