TheChemistry In Darkness
Chapter Sixty-Six
Wednesday 26th February 2025
As soon as Chloe had worked out in her thoughts that Elly must've gone to the Island to live with The Pack, she felt a lightness soften in her stress she'd been under for months. She knew all her stress could only be lifted by reuniting with the woman she loved but for now, just working out where Elly had disappeared to, helped Chloe's confidence.
And confidence is what Chloe needed the most right now.
It allowed her to listen to her heart that the baby she was carrying was Elly's and gave her as much positivity as she could manage that in ten days, she would find out that her baby didn't have the Huntington's gene.
With that, Chloe took a quiet look at Pierce, sleeping peacefully on his side next to her. Extracting herself from Pierce's hand that was holding her waist, Chloe was out of her own bed within seconds.
Looking down at the gray cotton trackies and light blue t-shirt, and then at the clock, seeing that it was just before 3am. Chloe didn't waste any more time worrying about how early in the morning it was or that she was wearing her pajamas. She quickly walked over to the chest of drawers that contained some of her and Pierce's clothes. In the bottom drawer there was a backpack bag Chloe used to use when she stayed over at her brothers to look after their kids at their place.
Chloe didn't pay attention to the clothes she was grabbing and throwing into her backpack, for all she knew they were mismatched clothes. Within a minute of getting out of her bed, she was already in the hallway with the bag slung over her shoulder, realizing she'd forgotten to get socks from her drawers but not wanting to risk waking her husband to go back for a pair. Putting on a pair of slip-on shoes that were laying on the floor of the living room, Chloe regretted even more not packing a pair of socks to wear with them, but she was so determined to get out of the house, nothing was going to hold her back.
As Chloe reached for her handbag that was sitting on the kitchen table, she looked around the house that was cloaked in darkness, feeling a wave of guilt passing over her.
Am I really going to do this? Run away in the middle of the night? I love this house. I've lived here for the last six or seven years…I fell in love with Elly at this house…then spent the last four and a half years living here with my husband…I do love Pierce…I couldn't have stayed married to him for this long if I didn't love him. But my love for Elly is beyond words…and now I need to reunite with her to tell her that…I want to be a family of four with her, Aster and our baby.
Chloe reached into her handbag, pulling out the soft toy she'd picked up at the hospital gift shop earlier that day. Chloe smiled as it now made sense to her why, even in her daze of learning Elly was her baby's parent, that she had bought the toy.
Placing it back in her handbag, knowing she had to bring it with her, Chloe then sighed once more as she looked around the darkened house.
I can't just do this to Pierce…I can't just walk out this door and never come back or never explain why I left…that part of my heart that does have love for him…for how much he loves me…I owe Pierce some form of closure that I've left him.
Chloe put her handbag back down where she found it, her backpack on the floor as she walked over to the dining table. Turning on the lights, knowing she was risking waking up her husband, Chloe hurriedly found what she was looking for. A set of letter writing templates that had fancy borderlines around the edges of the pages.
Taking out three pages from the set and the enclosed pen, Chloe began writing out two letters she needed to write to explain what she was doing.
Ten minutes later, Chloe folded both letters into envelopes, writing names on the envelopes. Taking the envelopes to her handbag, she pulled out two other items she wanted to include, placing one in each envelope.
Feeling like she had given herself closure over her decision to leave on a quest to reunite with Elly, more so than closure to those she was leaving behind, Chloe was soon quietly opening the front door as quietly as she could.
After closing the door behind her, Chloe pulled out her phone, ordering an Uber to take her to Anson's Corner, before walking down the steps to her driveway to meet the Uber when it arrived less than five minutes later.
Hours later, Pierce awoke to an empty bed. Frowning immediately at the absence of his wife lying next to him, Pierce didn't think too much of it, wondering if Chloe had been unable to sleep and had gone for her run early.
Grunting, Pierce got out of bed and headed straight for the ensuite to have a shower to start his day.
Ten minutes later, Pierce had slipped on a casual pair of business pants, loafers and his nicest business shirt but decided to leave his suit jacket in the closet as it was set to be a hot summers' day.
Walking into the kitchen, Pierce put the kettle on, keen to make himself a cup of coffee to enjoy with his breakfast. All of Pierce's thoughts were about what he was going to do with his knowledge that werewolves existed and he was absolutely positive that Elly was one of them. He knew he wanted to track down where Elly the werewolf had disappeared to, he knew how to kill a werewolf and had no fear of what he needed to do to get rid of her to ensure she never returned to Chloe's life again.
As he reached out for the coffee on the bench, his eyes finally fell to the letter standing up against some items on the kitchen table that had his name addressed on it.
Abandoning his coffee that he was meant to be making, Pierce reached out for the envelope.
Lifting the contents out of the envelope, there appeared to be two pieces of paper with a card in between them.
Pierce's eyes lit up immediately as he read the words on the first piece of paper that his wife had written him:
I'm pregnant
Pierce blushed a dark shade of red as he glanced down, glad he had worn his black casual business pants, when he realized the warm feeling of his excitement at Chloe's pregnancy had led him to lose control of his bladder for a second as his penis had pissed a stream of urine down his leg.
Immediately regaining his bodily function control over his excitement, Pierce awkwardly adjusted his pants, trying to ignore how humiliated he'd have been if Chloe had been there to tell him in person and she had seen his reaction had been to piss his pants. Pierce felt even more embarrassed that had Chloe been there to tell him the news, he probably wouldn't have been able to regain control so quickly, his entire bladder would've let loose and he'd have been unable to hide his penis soaking his entire pants with his urine. Not to mention the smell would've been unavoidable for Chloe to not have noticed.
A grown man pissing his pants in excitement at the one thing he had wanted desperately in years, was not the reaction he had ever expected of himself. He'd imagined this day for years, being excited was all he saw, but instead he'd turned into a little boy who couldn't use the toilet. He was meant to enjoy the moment of knowing his penis had impregnated his wife, not wanting to scold it for a different action.
Breathing deeply, feeling confident his little accident was over and his pants would soon dry, without the piss stain being visible and he wouldn't even need to change his pants, Pierce then flipped the page to the back of the envelope, to the card that was next.
Pierce didn't bother to feel embarrassed this time as he felt another squirt of piss down his pants as his eyes fell to the photo of the ultrasound of the baby.
His excitement of being able to privately celebrate the news of being a father, left him not caring that he was still embarrassed by his inability to stop the two quick streams of urine that had slid down his legs.
Ignoring the warmth, wet feeling, Pierce smiled gleefully, "That's my little baby. Look at you! You're so small yet so big! I love you so much already."
Pierce's glee didn't last as long as he expected it to. Pierce had expected it to last for years, he was already flashing to moments of the baby being born, growing up with him and Chloe, spending decades together and him been the best father he could possibly be to this child.
But every moment was stripped away from him as soon as he tore his eyes away from the ultrasound photo and he placed it on the counter to read the next page of Chloe's writing.
Pierce's eyes widened in complete shock as he read the words:
Congratulations…you're not the baby's parent!
Check the conceive date on the ultrasound, we weren't together then, I was with someone else and I've gone to start the family I've longed for with my baby's parent. I'm sorry I hurt you.
Pierce re-read this letter ten times, trying to make it make sense.
Flicking back to the ultrasound photo, he did as Chloe asked and immediately found the date the baby was conceived printed amongst Chloe's personal details at the top of the photo. His mind was racing, telling him it must be some horrible joke.
But as he saw the date printed in black and white, he did the math in his head and knew it wasn't a joke. Unless Chloe had gotten the doctor to lie about the date on the ultrasound.
This baby was two and a half months old, conceived mid-December. The last time he had slept with his wife had been the month prior to that. The idea that Chloe had betrayed him by sleeping with another man and conceiving a child with him when they had been so desperate to start a family left Pierce more than angry and upset.
Who the fuck did Chloe get pregnant to? Pierce's mind was racing as the horror of his wife's pregnancy to another man, was only just beginning.
A moment ago, he'd been more excited than he could control, knowing he was gonna be a Dad and then it was taken all away from him with the knowledge that Chloe had gotten pregnant to someone else.
Pierce's desperation at wanting to find Chloe, convince her that he didn't care the baby wasn't his, if they could raise the baby together because he could get past her betrayal, was quickly interrupted.
"Fuck!" Pierce slammed the letter down on the kitchen counter as he then slammed his own fists against it.
But it was too late and there was absolutely nothing Pierce could do as he stood there in his kitchen, angry at Chloe for destroying his dreams, whilst his very full bladder betrayed him even more and all he could do was stand there as his penis streamed every drop of urine it could down his pants.
Holding himself against the counter, Pierce stared down as his expensive loafers and socks were now drowning in his own piss before seeping all over the kitchen floor.
Pierce's rage at being unable to control the most basic of bodily functions, was soon overcome by hatred as he spent time thinking back to the time in December that Chloe could possibly had been with anyone else, "Elly had something to do with this… She got Chloe to fuck some guy at the Engagement Party…I'm going to fucking murder Elly!"
Next time - Chloe's left a truth bomb for Pierce but she's not done yet - who else receives a nasty truth bomb letter?
