They had the taxi take them to Terminal 8 where Burt and Carole needed to go to. They all go out and grabbed their luggage. Once they were inside the building, they said their goodbyes.
Carole pulled Sebastian into a hug. "Merry Christmas. I'm glad we got to see you two."
"Me too," he said.
Burt hugged Kurt. "Merry Christmas, bud. I'm sure you're going to have a great time."
"I'm glad you came."
Burt let go and stepped back. "So am I. We enjoyed ourselves. We'll work harder on figuring out a few times we can visit between now and this summer."
Kurt nodded.
Burt and Carole switched places.
Carole hugged Kurt. "It was good to see you, honey."
"You too."
Burt hesitated, but went ahead and offered Sebastian a hug. "I need to get better at this."
Sebastian stepped closer and hugged Burt. "You'll get the hang of it," he teased as he hugged him.
"You two have fun. I know you will," Burt said. "We need to head to our gate. Our flight leaves before yours does."
"We'll let you know when we get there," Kurt said.
He and Sebastian exited the Airtrain and walked into Terminal 1 down to where they needed to get in line to check their luggage. Before they got in line, Sebastian slipped his jacket off. "They fold up really flat. I'm putting my in my luggage so I can be more comfortable."
"Good idea." Kurt slipped his off as well.
The lined seemed to move really slowly, but Kurt passed the time playing with Sebastian's hand by running his fingers across his palm softly, which was something he generally did when they sat curled up to read. They eventually made it to the counter to check their luggage. They took their claim tickets, put them in their satchels with their boarding passes, and headed towards the concourse area to go through security.
Once they were finally through security, Kurt reached out and took Sebastian's hand again and squeezed it. "I still owe you for that ridiculous scene the first time we were in an airport together."
Sebastian snorted. "Go ahead." Sebastian winked at him. "Are you as shameless as I am?"
"You do have a point. I'd have to make an ass of myself in public, and you are absolutely shameless. I'm not sure what there is that I could do that would actually embarrass you – even slightly."
"You can work on that," Sebastian teased. "We could go make out somewhere." He leaned in. "I could blow you in the men's room."
Kurt turned red.
"Yeah, see. I think I'm safe, babe." He stopped abruptly causing Kurt to stumble just a bit and turn back. Sebastian closed the distance quickly and kissed him. "I love you." He wrapped his free hand around Kurt's waist. "You don't tune me out or walk away from me now. I won't embarrass you like that again."
"I know." This time he kissed Sebastian. "I love you too."
"Now, see that surprised me, but in no way embarrassed me."
"Let's go get a crossword puzzle magazine to do together like we decided to do." Kurt turned back to walk besides Sebastian as they walked towards the terminal map.
"Ooh!" Kurt pointed to the map. "A Salvatore Ferragamo store. Let's go look in there first."
"Sure, babe."
A few minutes later Sebastian took Kurt's carry-on so he could look more easily in the Ferragamo store, where they were summarily ignored until Kurt saw one of the clerks have a flash of realization that he tried to smooth over quickly. Kurt knew that it was the point at which he realized that Kurt was wearing black distressed Diesel jeans and a deep red, embroidered Kenzo Paris tiger hoodie that had just been released a few weeks prior. The sales clerk moved closer, but still straightened racks instead of actually approaching them.
Kurt moved closer to him to watch his reaction and saw him glancing down at Kurt's feet to take note of what kind of shoes he was wearing, which happened to be black Ferragamo double-zip boots that he had chosen because they were both comfortable to walk in and easy to get on and off, making it easier to go through security.
Kurt pointed to one of the shirts that he owned and was packed in his suitcase, which was somewhere in the process of being loaded onto the plane. "I remember this one from the shoot last summer," Kurt said.
"I actually like that one a lot," Sebastian said. "It's a good color on you."
"That's true, but I was thinking for you? I never get to see you in red."
"That's true. Red isn't really my color." Sebastian caught on to what Kurt was doing, but kept a straight face.
"I know, but you could broaden your wardrobe color palate."
"Right. I'll think about it. I'm pretty fond of the greens and blues for myself, but I do like red on you."
"I'm well aware of that fact, sweetie." Kurt walked away from the shirt and meandered around the store for several minutes before he walked towards a display of bags.
The sales clerk finally approached them. "Is there something you'd like to see?"
"If I didn't dislike swapping the stuff out of my bag so much, I'd buy more of them. I really do like that one." Kurt pointed out a small black leather messenger bag with silver-toned metal accents that was about the right size to hold an iPad and a few magazines or file folders.
Sebastian had to refrain from laughing because Kurt was pointing to the bag he was carrying, but his fleece vest was folded over it, covering it completely. "You've shown me that one before. Maybe you should just get it since you keep thinking about it."
The clerk's eyes flashed brightly before he got a grip on his expression.
"I'm just not sure that I'm ready to give up something I already have to bring a new bag into my life."
The clerk attempted to keep his face emotion free.
Sebastian was so close to losing it that he was barely keeping from laughing. He turned away from the bags. "Hey, babe. You can keep looking if you want. Get that bag if you want it. I'm going to go find the restroom."
"Oh, I'll just go with you. I'll keep thinking about the bag." He reached out for Sebastian's hand and they left the store.
When they got far enough away, Sebastian let out a snort and laughed. He looked at Kurt and rolled his eyes. "What brought that on?"
"Oh, you know. I decided that if I can't embarrass you, I can just make it really hard for you to keep a straight face in front of the obviously classist store clerk, who's getting paid $15 an hour to sell designer clothing, but gets a commission on each sale he makes. His dad probably thought it would be good exposure to the 'real world' to have to wait on customers. He only started paying attention to us once I turned around and he saw that I'm wearing about $1500 in clothing. He couldn't see my $1000 bag."
"I see. Well, congratulations. I had to fake having to pee to save face."
"Let's go look in Michael Kors, Hermès, and Burberry on the way back to our gate."
Sebastian bowed slightly. "As you wish..."
Kurt shoulder-bumped him. "You goof."
"But I'm your goof." He squeezed Kurt's hand.
"You are. Absolutely mine. And I'm yours."
Sebastian stepped in front of him and started to sing while walking backwards.
Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it.
I tried to be chill, but you're so hot that I melted.
I fell right through the cracks.
Now I'm trying to get back.
Before the cool done run out,
I'll be giving it my bestest.
I reckon it's again my turn,
To win some or learn some.
Kurt's natural inclination was to blush and be embarrassed, but he decided to use the situation as an acting exercise in improv skills while simultaneously improving his self-confidence. He stepped closer to Sebastian and kissed him, preventing Sebastian from singing anymore. He skipped a bit of the song and started to sing himself.
But I won't hesitate no more, no more.
It cannot wait. I'm sure.
There's no need to complicate.
Our time is short.
This is our fate. I'm yours.
Kurt began to dance around a bit while singing the scatting part.
Do, do, do, do, do you do,
He sang more seductively, while using his index finger to indicate for Sebastian to come closer.
But do you want to come on?
Scooch on over closer, dear.
And I will nibble your ear.
He quit singing, but kept humming. He wrapped his hands around Sebastian's neck, leaned in, and kissed him below the ear.
Sebastian wrapped his arms around Kurt and started to laugh. "That was amazing, babe. Really." He hugged Kurt tight. "You might even be as shameless as me – eventually," he teased.
Kurt relaxed into the hug. "I love you."
Sebastian was still chuckling at bit. "I love you too, babe. So much. Are you ready to go to Hermès or wherever it was that you wanted to go?"
Kurt spoke directly into his ear. "Your idea of making out in the men's room is becoming more and more appealing."
"Oh, really?" he asked, excitement obvious in his voice.
"But I'm going to behave."
"Oh," Sebastian's voice dropped.
"Until we're on the plane."
Sebastian pulled back, shocked, and looked Kurt in the eyes. "What?"
"You heard me. Let's go see if I like any of the scarves."
Sebastian about tripped over his own feet as Kurt pulled him in the direction of the boutique. He got his feet to move in a synchronized fashion again and walked around the boutique holding Kurt's hand. After a few minutes, Kurt led them back towards the exit.
"No suitable scarves?"
"Isabelle has spoiled me giving me things from the vault. I just don't have the willpower I used to have to work for hours and hours to buy a desired piece. Or maybe I just haven't seen anything that I've liked enough to put that much effort into it."
"I get that. After my condescending behavior last spring, I did more research. I didn't want to be a ignorant person, someone who didn't know how real life worked because I was rich and privileged. I used my research as the basis for my final paper in my Economics course."
"You never told me that."
"It didn't seem to be something that would interest you. And honestly, you had lived it your whole life, so I didn't see the point in telling you what you already knew. Anyway, having to stick to the budget my parents give me and learning to shop with you reinforced what I had read. Even though I'm not working a job to get my monthly allowance, I have to spend it wisely because I'm not willing to go to my parents and tell them that I'm not smart enough to manage the money they give me. If something dire happened, would ask them for help? Yes. If I were mugged and my backpack was stolen, I'd go to them for the money to get my laptop, my iPad, and my textbooks replaced. But I'm not going to go to them and tell them that I spent $20 for lunch every day and ran out of money. So, I can understand why you wouldn't want to spend $99 on a scarf."
"You must have only seen the edge of the tag. It was $299."
"What?"
"Yep."
"Wait, earlier. I was laughing too hard to focus." He pulled Kurt closer and spoke quietly. "How much did you say what you wearing would cost?"
"$1500."
He looked Kurt up and down. "You're serious?"
"I am, but Isabelle gave me all of it. I didn't buy any of it."
"And that doesn't include the bag because you said the price of it separately."
"Nope. It doesn't include the bag."
Sebastian laughed.
Kurt turned to look at him, confused.
"Your dad made a comment about how casually you were dressed. And you said that you had chosen comfort over fashion. If asked, what would he have guessed about the cost?"
"He'd probably say $200, including the bag, if he thought I bought it all new. In his mind, beat up jeans and a hoodie equal maybe $50. Leather boots are never actually cheap, so he'd probably guess $100. And the bag, $50, like one of Carole's purses. but given the way the jeans look, he probably thinks I've had them forever and wore them out or that I bought them second-hand."
"That's great. I had no idea how much the total would be, but I knew that you had gotten them from Aunt Izzie."
"Even though they are 'designer' clothes, they are still very, very far from the way my dad considers to be my normal, overly dressed-up style, which was the point my dad was making, so I just let it drop."
"Makes sense. So, where to next?"
"Actually, I'd like to go work on one of the crossword puzzles and relax a bit. I'm not going to buy any clothes because I don't have any room in my carry-on."
"Sounds good to me, unless of course you've changed your mind about the men's room"
"Not yet, but I'll be sure to let you know if I do." He took his carry-on from Sebastian and flounced off towards the boarding area to see if they could find a place with a table they could sit at.
Sebastian chuckled and hurried to catch up. "How about the coffee shop? We can get a drink and sit down?"
"Works for me."
"3-Down – 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going'," Sebastian said.
"Dream Girls."
"6-Across – 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina'."
"Evita."
"I knew that. Damn. Um. 10-Down – 'My Man'."
"Funny Girl."
"That was the last one I couldn't get."
"You did really good. You managed to do about one-third of it with no help."
"I need to find one with physics as the topic."
"I wouldn't even bother to try. I'd have no clue. I've never taken a single physics class ever. And the only physics book I've ever read is your superheroes one."
Sebastian's heart fluttered, realizing that Kurt had taken the time out of his super busy schedule to read it because it had meant something to him.
The announcement over the PA called for their flight to begin boarding in 15 minutes, so Sebastian opened small, brown leather messenger bag that Kurt had brought home from the vault for him and put the crossword puzzle magazine in it. Kurt grabbed their empty cups, tossed them out, and waited for Sebastian by the entrance. They walked hand in hand down the concourse a little ways to use the men's room before boarding. Kurt moved a few things from his carry-on to his messenger bag when he stepped into the stall. They had barely sat down in the boarding area to wait when they were called to board. Once they were on board, they slipped their vests into the overhead bins where they stowed their carry-ons, and sat down. Kurt reached for Sebastian's hand once he had his bag situated.
"I'm glad we got to pick the seats. These seem to have a bit more leg room and it's just the two of us together." He looked out the window for a few seconds and watched luggage being loaded onto another plane. "I'm really excited." He turned Sebastian's hand over on his thigh and began tracing patterns and writing things.
"Go slower. I can't tell what you're spelling when you go so fast."
Kurt spelled out "I love you."
"Mmm. Me too."
Kurt shoulder bumped him teasingly. "Good to know. I'm glad you do. You're very lovable."
Sebastian rolled his eyes.
"You're going to sprain your eyes."
Sebastian chortled. "I'll keep that in mind." He pulled his hand away long enough to fasten his seat belt. "I'm excited too."
Kurt fastened his quickly and took Sebastian's hand again. "As soon as we can take the seat belts back off, we can try to get a bit more cozy."
"Mmm. Cozy always sounds good."
About fifteen minutes later, everyone was finally on board. The flight attendants went through their safety speech and the plane taxied to the runway. Kurt pulled out a pack of cinnamon gum and gave Sebastian a piece.
When the plane took off, Kurt leaned towards the window and pulled Sebastian towards him so they could see Manhattan as they gained altitude. He took advantage of Sebastian being so close by slightly licked the edge of his ear and nibbling on it a bit.
Sebastian enjoyed the attention and Kurt's boldness and managed to silence his natural inclination to moan.
"As soon as the seatbelt light goes off, you need to slip out to the restroom."
"Wait." He leaned into Kurt's ear. "You were serious?"
"Unless you don't want to."
"Of course I want to." He took a deep breath. "I need that light to go off right now."
Kurt chuckled. "I think it will take 15 minutes at least. We could work on another puzzle."
"Sure. I need a distraction now."
"I still can't believe your grandparents paid for me to come with you."
"They'll love you. I'm sure of it."
"What's not to love?" Kurt asked in his faux haughty voice.
"Exactly my point," Sebastian said sincerely. He pulled out the puzzle magazine and they started on a new one.
As soon as they finished it, Sebastian put the magazine back away. Kurt took the blanket the flight attendant offered them when she came by. The couple across the aisle from them had already reclined their seats and closed their eyes. Kurt placed the blanket over both of their laps and managed to slip his hand so that it was covering Sebastian's crotch. Sebastian looked over at him.
"Just getting things ready," Kurt teased.
"As you can tell, things are already ready."
"Well, we've never really tried to speed things along – the opposite usually. But we're going to have five minutes at most." He moved his hand back to his own lap.
Sebastian's breathing picked up after realizing what Kurt was doing under the blanket.
"You picked these seats strategically, didn't you?"
"I did."
As soon as the light switched off, Kurt slipped something out of his satchel into his back pocket. He nudged Sebastian. He took Sebastian's bag and put it under the blanket with his own. Sebastian stepped around the corner and went into the lavatory. Kurt followed right behind him, closing and locking the door immediately.
Sebastian looked around without moving. "There's really not much room in here."
"I know." Kurt pulled out the bag and handed Sebastian three finger cots, a condom, and an individual packet of lube. He took out a condom for himself, which made Sebastian give him a strange look.
"Less mess."
"Got it.
"Plus, I'm more flexible, quieter, and we've never tried this standing up." Kurt undid his pants, grabbed two paper towels to put between his hands and the wall, and arranged himself in a way that Sebastian could reach him. "We need to get a move on or we'll get someone knocking on the door."
"Not very romantic."
"No. We don't have to, if you've changed your mind."
Sebastian moved into position behind Kurt. "We're only young once, right?"
"Right. And I love you."
Sebastian leaned forward and kiss Kurt on the back of the neck. "I love you too."
By the time they returned to their seats, a flight attendant was about three rows up with the drink cart. And a second flight attendant was about four rows behind her with their dinners.
Kurt picked the blanket and their bags back up and they got comfortable just as the first flight attendant reached them.
"I'll have water, please." Kurt said.
"I'd like water as well. Thank you."
She gave them two small bottles of water and moved into the rear area to wait for the second flight attendant to finish distributing the meals. Once he had handed Kurt and Sebastian their food, he stepped into the back long enough to turn his cart around and head back up the aisle to give people extra napkins or condiments if they requested any. The first flighted attendant followed him back up the row.
Kurt opened his water and took a drink before he picked up his fork.
Sebastian put his hand on Kurt's thigh. "Are you okay?"
Kurt nodded. "I am. That was thrilling, but not really all that satisfying. Nothing personal, at all." He put his hand over the top of Sebastian's.
Sebastian leaned in so that he was speaking directly into Kurt's ear. "I feel the same way. I'd much rather be together in private. You're not hurt are you? From us rushing?"
He repositioned a bit and spoke into Sebastian's ear. "No. I did some prep in the men's room before we boarded. That's why I wanted to take our first opportunity. I can feel it, but I'm not in pain. After we eat, can we find a way to snuggle somehow?"
"Yes, of course." He kissed the side of Kurt's neck. "I think once is enough. It was exciting, but too stressful."
Kurt nodded. "Let's eat while it still warm." Before they finished, Kurt handed Sebastian a melatonin. He took two Benadryl himself as well since sleep wasn't something he found easy in the best of circumstances.
The flight attendant collected their trays about ten minutes later. Sebastian asked for a regular pillow and a small one, which she brought back a few minutes later. Kurt slipped his right boot off and put the pillow behind him. He bent his right leg and leaned it against the back of their seats. Sebastian took both of his boots off and leaned back against Kurt, bent his knees and put his feet up on the end of the seat, and covered them with the blanket. Kurt positioned the small pillow on his left shoulder and Sebastian relaxed his head back. Kurt wrapped his arms around Sebastian, who put his arms over the top of Kurt's. He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
"I love you, Kurt."
"I know you do. I love you too. Let's try to get some sleep."
They both woke up a few times, but managed to fall back asleep, but around 12:30am, the beeping sound from the seatbelt warning woke them up. They stretched and rearranged so that they were sitting in their own seats. They put their boots back on quickly, sat their seats up, and put their seat belts on. The flight attendants started at the back with breakfast and offered them tea or coffee, juice, and a blueberry muffin.
They each took the coffee and added some cream.
Sebastian took a bite of his muffin. "It's not as good as yours, babe."
"Of course not. It's not lemon poppy seed with mini blueberries." Kurt took a bite of his. "It's not bad, though." He looked out the window. "Even with it being 6:30 here, it still not light out yet. When we land, we'll just be able to see the lights."
"It's still a cool view. Just wait. You'll see."
They finished quickly and got a refill on their coffees before they had to put their trays up and prepare for landing. Sebastian scooted as close as he could and looked out the window with Kurt. As their altitude dropped through the cloud cover, the lights of Paris became a lot more visible.
"It's beautiful," Kurt said. "You were right, of course. This is going to be the most amazing trip. I've loved spending time with you in Florida, and now we're in Paris. Paris. I'm in Paris."
Sebastian kissed him on the temple. "That you are. That you are. And it is going to be amazing."
When the plane stopped, they didn't move since they were at the back. Once about half the cabin had emptied out, they stood up and stretched, and then hugged. Sebastian opened the overhead storage compartment and pulled Kurt's carry-on out first and put it on the seat. He pulled his out and sat it next to Kurt's. Eventually, they began to make their way to the front.
As soon as they were in the concourse, Sebastian pulled Kurt towards the men's room. Once they were inside, he didn't let go of Kurt's hand and he pulled him into the handicapped stall with him. As soon as he closed the door and latched it, he kissed Kurt. He moved from soft and gentle to passionate and back.
When they broke for air, he kissed along Kurt's jaw up to his ear. "I definitely like us facing each other. I want to see you and touch you everywhere when we're together. It was fun and crazy, and I'm glad it was with you. But it wasn't enough."
"I agree." He took a deep breath and hugged Sebastian. Kurt knew the feeling all too well. He pushed those thoughts away. "Let's go get our luggage."
Sebastian said, "I actually need to use the restroom before we go."
"Me too." He pecked Sebastian on the lips. He exited the stall and moved down to the next one.
Sebastian was surprised how quickly they made it through baggage claims and customs. They stopped to pull the top layer of their coats out before they went outside.
"I'm glad that we have today and half of tomorrow until Uncle David, Aunt Elise, Henri, and Odele return from visiting Uncle David's family. Mémé was right about us needing to reset our clocks. We've always flown on the overnight flights that comes in around 1:00 in the afternoon and we'd just force ourselves to stay awake until around 9:00 that night. But it's just 7:00 in the morning. There's no way I can stay awake for 14 more hours."
"Me neither. We napped enough to have the energy to get to your aunt's place, but once we're there, I'll need a shower and a nap."
"We'll go out for lunch after we wake up, like we planned."
Kurt repeated his statement from earlier even more enthusiastically when they stepped outside. "I'm in Paris."
Sebastian kissed him on the lips and took his hand. "Let's go get Metro cards."
