(Ayla's POV)

*It's been a few days since our underground adventure. Right now, we were hiding behind a meteor trying to close to a Metarex base without getting spotted. We detected two Chaos Emeralds inside*

Knuckles: How do you know you can't break in unless you try!?

Tails: You saw what happened to that meteorite! It's too dangerous!

Sonic: Hey guys, we need to come up with a plan here.

Ayla: And quick if we wanna get those Emeralds.

Eggman:*off-screen* Don't worry about that, Sonic and Ayla. *just then, Dr. Eggs-for-Brains appeared on the screen**on-screen* I've got it all figured out. I have a proposal for you.

Sonic: I gotta hear this.

Dr. Eggman: Why don't we join our forces and work together?

Sonic: What's that?

Ayla: Give us a minute to think about it, Doc. *Tails hung up* Group huddle!

Cream: We shouldn't work with Dr. Eggman, he's trying to trick us.

Cheese: Chao-Chao!

Amy: Yeah, don't even think about it, Knuckles!

Knuckles: I didn't say anything.

Ayla: I'm pretty sure that was a one time thing, Amy. *in her mind* I hope.

Sonic: I think we should work with Eggman. Our chances are better that way.

Tails: I agree with Sonic.

*We all nodded. We called Eggman back*

Eggman: Well?

Sonic: Let's go for it Eggman.

Chris: So, how are we gonna get in the base?

Dr. Eggman: We can sneak in without getting caught by using Chaos Control. *to Shadow* That's where you come in Shadow.

*Shadow narrowed his eyes at Eggman*

Decoe: OF COURSE, HOW BRILLIANT.

Bocoe: THIS IS YOUR MOST INGENIOUS PLAN, DOCTOR.

Dr. Eggman: Here's what we'll do, the first group in will head for the computer that controls the security system. They're responsible for shutting it down. Then the rest of us can sneak into the base undetected.

Sonic: Sounds cool!

Knuckles: What'll we do when we find the Emeralds, though? Will we share them 50/50?

Dr. Eggman: Whoever gets to them first can keep them.

Ayla: So in other words, it's a race.

Dr. Eggman: You might say that.

Sonic:*giving a thumbs up* It's a deal.

Dr. Eggman: To make sure it's a fair contest, both sides will supply members for the entry team. I've selected Rouge to represent our side.

Rouge:*off-screen* Wait, why should I go?

Dr. Eggman: Because when it comes to break-ins, you're a real smash. You're not afraid to go in there, are you?

Rouge:*off-screen* Of course I'm not afraid! I'd be thrilled to join the team!

Dr. Eggman: I knew that I could count on you, Rouge. Thank you!

*It was time for us to choose who goes with who*

Amy: Count me out! I refuse to join any team with Rouge cause I don't like her.

Tails: It's not like your going on a picnic with her, Amy.

Knuckles: I'm not going either, I won't work with that burglaring bat anymore.

Cream: Maybe we should pick a name out of a hat.

*Chris & I stepped up*

Chris: I volunteer.

Ayla: Me too.

Amy: Are you sure?

Chris: Yes.

Ayla:*to Sonic* You approve?

Sonic: Chris, yes. You, I'm not so sure. Your shoulder still hasn't fully healed. And I'm not really comfortable about you working with Shadow.

Ayla: I can take care of myself. And I promise to watch my shoulder. Please Sonic. I really want to help.

*Sonic was silent for a few seconds & then sighed*

Sonic: Alright.

Cosmo: Please promise that you'll be very careful and stay close to the others.

Chris: We will.

*Later, we were all behind the same meteor. Me, Chris, Shadow, & Rouge were standing in a tube together on the Crimson Egg. Shadow then held up the red Chaos Emerald*

Shadow: Ready, team? *we all nodded* Chaos Control!

*As the Emerald glowed, I closed my eyes. When I opened them, we were all standing in a dark hallway. Chris called the others on his wristwatch*

Chris: Chris to Blue Typhoon, Chaos Control successful. We're inside the base. We're gonna start looking for the security system controls.

Sonic:*off-screen* We copy. Be careful, guys

Ayla: We will.

*As we went down the hallway, we hid from a Metarex that looked like a dinosaur. Soon, it was gone*

Rouge:*whispering* All clear.

*We all ran down the hallway. Shadow then appeared in front of us*

Ayla:*whispering* Could you please warn us before you do that!?

*I looked at Rouge & noticed she had a sly smile on her face*

Rouge: Say, why don't we split up to look for that control room?

Shadow: No.

Rouge: Why not?

Shadow: The Doctor wants us to stay together.

Ayla: I agree with Shadow. On of us know our way around here, so it'll be dangerous if we split up.

Rouge: Really? *she got another sly smile on her face & turned to Chris* Remember the last time the four of us used Chaos Control? As I recall, the circumstances were rather explosive.

Ayla:*in her mind* What is she up to now?

Chris: You mean Prison Island.

Ayla: Why bring that up?

Rouge: I was afraid Shadow would leave me there. And do you remember what happened next?

Chris: Of course I do, Shadow transported us to Space Colony Ark.

Rouge: That's right, Shadow, wasn't that the home of your friend Maria?

BANG!

*As soon as she said that, Shadow had punched the wall really hard. I looked at his other fist & saw it shaking*

Shadow: Maria . . .

*He then fell to his knees, devastated*

Chris: Shadow!

*Rouge then took off ahead of us*

Ayla: Hey! Get back here!

Rouge: Sorry boys and girl, I have to go find those Chaos Emeralds! *suddenly, a Metarex blocked her way* Move it, creep!

*She did a Screw Kick, destroying it. But more Metarex were right behind it. She managed to dodge most of them, but one of them grabbed her in it's mouth. Shadow then skated ahead & destroyed them all. The blast destroyed a nearby wall & an alarm sounded*

Shadow: Don't run off.

Rouge: Since you put it that way . . .

*Chris looked in through the opening in the wall*

Chris: Look! We may have found the control room!

Shadow: Wait up!

*We all followed him inside & found him working on the computer*

Chris: We're in luck, this computer runs the security system. *we all looked at each other with grins & destroyed the computer. Chris turned on his wristwatch* Do you read me? The computer's shut down!

Sonic:*off-screen* Good work, Chris and Ayla!

*As we made our way to the randevu point, we were attacked by several Metarex, but we destroyed them all.

Ayla:*in her mind* I hope everyone's okay.
