Chapter 68- Kendall's New Revenge Plot

Myrtle sat on a bench and buried her face in her hands. She flinched a little when Erica placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Oh, Erica," Myrtle cried. "I can't believe this is happening."

"She'll be just fine," Erica reassured her.

"I want to believe that. And I know I have to be strong for Skye, but I feel like I'm just breaking."

"I know Rae and I haven't treated each other very well—Okay… I haven't treated Rae very well—but she's strong like her mother. She will beat this."

"But you don't understand, Erica. I watched my Daddy suffer with this for months before he died. I don't want to watch Rae in that kind of pain."

"Well, you know, medicine has come a long way since then. How many years ago did he die?"

"I was very, very young. I must've been only ten."

"See?" Erica smiled. "Things are different now. Doctors know more. They can help her with the pain, and they can help her beat this. Plus, she has you—" She pointed to Myrtle's heart and then her own. "And me."

"And Skye," Myrtle added.

Erica rolled her eyes. "Yes, I suppose Skye too… even though she's always caught up in her own drama."

Myrtle turned to her. "Sounds like someone else I know and love."

Erica scoffed. "Excuse me? I could've used this as an opportunity to woo Kendall. But I'm here supporting you."

Myrtle smiled. "It wouldn't hurt to say hello to her."

"If she doesn't spit on me in response…"

"Go on…"

Kendall was standing next to the vending machine with her phone pressed to her ear. "What? No! You can't do that! Please… I will pay the bill, I will… I just need more time. Please… Ugh!" She threw her phone against the machine.

Erica exchanged a look with Myrtle. "Kendall? Is everything okay?"

Kendall groaned. "Oh, like I would tell you!"

"But you're obviously upset," Erica said.

"If you won't tell Erica, will you tell me?" Myrtle asked.

Kendall bent over and picked up her phone. "That was the Pine Cone. They're kicking me out because I haven't paid for my room the past three months."

"Well, you just don't worry further," Erica said. "You're coming home with me."

Kendall laughed. "That's the last thing either of us want, Erica."

"You could come stay at my place," AJ cut in. "We have lots of room."

"Shouldn't you talk to your mom about this first?" Elizabeth suggested. "It is her house after all."

"Well, I'm sure Rae wouldn't mind one more house guest," Myrtle said.

"Kendall is my daughter, and she should come home with me," Erica said.

Kendall crossed her arms. "I'm not going anywhere with you! I want nothing to do with you!"

Erica gritted her teeth. "You know what, Kendall? Fine! I am done chasing you!"

Myrtle sighed. "Erica, no…"

"We are supposed to be here to support Myrtle and Rae, yet here I am still trying to reach out to you," Erica said. "You want nothing to do with me? Then I'm done. You're safe and out of the Alcazar's clutches, so I'm moving on. Go live with the Quartermaines, live with Myrtle, go back to the Harts, or be homeless—I don't care anymore."

"Excuse me?" Dr. Wolek walked over and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry to interrupt. I came to give an update on Rae's condition."

"How is she?" Myrtle asked.

"It's going to be a long road," Dr. Wolek said.

Skye rushed out of the room and even ignored Kendall to announce her good news.

"Mom's alive! It's a miracle! I woke her up!"

Everyone exchanged confused looks.

Dr. Wolek cleared his throat. "Well, we knew she would wake up once the anesthetic wore off—"

"Now that she's awake can we take her home?" Skye asked anxiously.

"I'm going to have to keep her for a few days," he said. "She needs to get used to her feeding tube before she goes home."

Skye frowned. "Then what was the point of the procedure this afternoon? Didn't it work? Aren't you doing your job properly!?"

"Skye, settle down!" Myrtle said.

"The decompression was to reduce some of the pressure in her intestines, but I'm afraid it only gives temporary relief."

"So, how long will she have to be on a feeding tube?" Skye asked.

"For as long as her bowels can't push food through. I'd like to keep her a few days and see how she does on the feeding tube—"

"A few days?"

"Then I will consider sending her home before her surgery."

"When will her surgery be?" Myrtle asked.

"I have it scheduled on the 15th of next month," Dr. Wolek said.

"If you don't cure my mom and soon," Skye threatened. "Then I'm going to hospital board or I'll have my father take over! He's a much better doctor than you!"

Myrtle pulled Skye's arm down because she was waving her index finger at him. "Skye, that is enough. He's doing everything he can."

"Well, it's not good enough."

After the doctor left, Kendall approached Skye, but Skye wouldn't have any of it. Kendall ended up emulating her mother and told Skye to go to Hell and she would make her pay somehow.

Myrtle pretty much had to drag Skye out of the hospital, because she wanted to go right to the board. But Myrtle had to remind her it was the middle of the night and they wouldn't be there. She also didn't want to leave Rae, but Myrtle said they had to let her rest and they could go visit her in the morning.

But Skye tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep. She ended up making her way into Rae's room and heard Myrtle talking on the phone. She curled up in Rae's bed and finally fell asleep.

The next morning, Skye approached Myrtle's room, but she was apparently already up. She made her way to the kitchen and heard voices.

"Are you sure you don't mind me staying here, Myrtle?" Skye clenched her jaw when she realized it was Kendall.

"Not at all, darling," Myrtle said. "I know Skye was angry, but it was just about Rae and she was taking it out on you. I think your presence here will make this easier on her. She really cares about you and treasures your friendship."

Kendall looked over Myrtle's shoulder and noticed Skye peeking through the slightly opened door. "I really do appreciate everything. I appreciate you." Kendall leaned forward and hugged Myrtle, then smirked at Skye.

Kendall sat down again as Skye walked in.

"Oh, Skye, dear," Myrtle said. "I have good news. Kendall is going to stay with us for a while. You can really use a friend right now. She's coming with us to visit Rae."

"Oh, goodie," Skye said sarcastically.
