It Knows Me

Ianto was watching the children play, their laughter rising with the butterflies and birds that seemed to cheekily tease them when they ran too close. Toshiko was lounging on the low seat with her feet up, the large hat over her face as she snoozed, Owen running with the children like an overgrown one himself. I guess in a way he was.
Andy was in the kitchen with Rhys, their own laughter just as playful if not a little teasing as they now kissed between quarrelling over the evening meal they were creating for the flock and Ianto knew Rhiannon and her own sweetlings would be long with Cooger at any time to join the fun, no doubt with trifle from Mama's recipe.
Ianto stood there on the balcony overlooking the garden and smiled, knowing his mate was in the room as his Dragone blood boiled with the raw affection wafting off his handsome man. Without turning around Ianto said softly "Going down to join the great chase?"
"No" came the reply in his left ear as hands snaked around his waist to kiss the shell of said ear and then add "Thought I might check my little dragon king."
"I am fine, just basking" Ianto replied "Little king is doing fine. Although, I still say that tape measure lied."
"But the sun is not yet over the eves" Jack said, leaning out to look up at the roof with interest. Ianto smiled and pulled him back for a kiss.
"Not that kind ya numpty. More than one kind of warmth" Ianto laughed, kissing him and patting his arse gently "Our children have seen you… you know you promised the remote control cars with Owen."
"Stop lingering on things… I know you. Those ghosts do not need acknowledgment on such a nice day. I love you… handsome devil" Jack smiled softly as he stroked Ianto's cheek then raced off leaving the dragon cooler than before now the heat of passion had left the room.
Not to mind.
It would return.
As his power retuned.
His strength returned.
He back bone retuned.
His righteous returned.
Yes.
Ianto looked out at the clear blue skies and silently wished for rain so his mood might be reflected as the melancholy lingered, on this the anniversary of that day when the Dragons burst through the crust and became as fireflies in the sky, humans finally fully aware of the ancient creatures amongst them.
The day his father died.
And he was reborn.
A King of Kings and all that jazz.
The darkness would come soon, and with the dying of the sun there would be the moment of loss, of pain. Much like the one felt as Jack had fled the room.
But Ianto had no fear of the darkness now. His deep and sorrowful friend.
For the sun would always return.
In a lover's embrace

It Knows Me"
I seek the water
I seek the trees
I seek the heavens
I'm brought down to my knees
Yeah, I know anger
I know peace
Yeah, I know darkness
Mmm, and it knows me
And it knows me
And it knows me
I've felt the fire
I've held the sword
I've fought desire
Mmm, but I lost that war
Crying out in shame
Oh, for goodness sake
I tried to disagree
Oh, but it knows me
And it knows me
And it knows me
Rest my soul, grace set me free
I know my sins and they know me
And it knows me
And it knows me
Rest my soul, grace set me free
I know my sins and they know me
