A Metarex Melee
Last time on Sonic X: Ayla's Story . . .
Eggman discovered two more Chaos Emeralds hidden aboard a high-security Metarex fortress. When the Doctor suggested that Sonic, Ayla, and the gang team up with him to see who can snatch the Emeralds first, Sonic jumped at the chance. Soon with the help of Rouge and a metal version of Sonic, Chris, Ayla, & Shadow break into the Metarex complex. And after a bit of digital detective work, shut down the security system, but when Sonic and the others burst in for a little Emerald espionage, they're greeted by a mob of Metarex with one thing on their minds: Total destruction!

(Ayla's POV)
"As we made our way down the hallway, I could hear the sounds of a battle. We looked out a nearby window to see an army of ship's surrounding the fortress*
Chris: Uh oh, we're in trouble.
Rouge: You said it, kid.
*Just then, I heard beeping. I turned to Rouge to see her answering a walkie talkie*
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* Listen up, Rouge! In the interest of self-preservation, I'm calling off this clam bake!
Rouge; What? I thought you wanted us to get the Emeralds?
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* Oh, blast the Emeralds! These Metarex monstrosities are about to make a meal out of us!
*Suddenly, we all heard a deep metallic voice*
Red Pine:*off-screen* ATTENTION INTRUDERS. MAKE NO EFFORT TO ESCAPE. I AM RED PINE. I AND MY THREE COMMANDERS SERVE THE ALL POWERFUL DARK OAK. IN YOUR FOOLISH EFFORT TO UNDERMINE OUR MISSION, YOU HAVE PLAYED DIRECTLY INTO OUR LEADER'S HANDS *laughing* IN FACT, HE WISHES TO EXPRESS HIS GRATITUDE FOR BRINING HIM THE CHAOS EMERALDS. THANKS TO YOU ALL, WE WON'T HAVE TO BLINDLY SCOUR THE GALAXY. WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO THANK YOU. PERHAPS WE'LL JUST DESTROY YOU.
Rouge: Try it, you overgrown junkyard!
Dr. Eggman:*off-screen* What are you waiting for, Rouge!? Move it or lose it! A genius like me can't afford to dawdle with danger!
Ayla: Now what do we do?
Rouge: Well, I'm not leaving here empty handed.
*Shadow took off down the hallway*
Chris: Shadow!
*He & I started to run after him, but Chris' wristwatch started beeping. He answered it*
Amy:*off-screen* Chris, Ayla, do you two read me!?
Chris: Amy, what's wrong!?
Amy:*off-screen* Please help! They're gonna hurt Sonic!
*Not needing to be told twice I ran down the hallway to find my brother & help him. I could hear Chris calling my name, but I ignored him. Just then, Shadow appeared in front of me*
Shadow: Like I told Rouge, don't run off alone.
Ayla: But I have to find my brother! He needs my help!
Shadow: I know. *he pulled out theme red Chaos Emerald* That's why we're all getting out of here together.
*I was surprised to hear this, but smiled*
Ayla: Thanks, Shadow.
Shadow: Just for the record, I'm not doing this for Sonic.
Ayla: Then why are you doing this?
*Shadow have me a smirk*
Shadow: That's my little secret *he held up the Chaos Emerald* Chaos Control!
*I closed my eyes. When I opened them, I was in the last place I wanted to be, the Crimson Egg*
Dr. Eggman: Well, it certainly took you long enough! *he then looked at me & Chris* Well, if it isn't Chris and Ayla. Long time no see. *we both glared at him* Nice of you two to drop in. I see Shadow decided to escort Rouge back here. He really is an agreeable little fellow isn't he. After all, two little squirts like you two wouldn't have been no match for those guys.
Chris: I thought you said we were all on the same team! I should've known you'd run when the going got tough.
Dr. Eggman: Well . . . Better safe than sorry, I say. We don't wanna get hurt, do we, kid?
Chris: I'm not a kid, okay!
Dr. Eggman: Whatever you say, kid. *Bokkun took the Chaos Emeralds from Shadow & put them in Eggman's machine* Ah yes. Another day, another conquest. Let's not waste anymore time. It's been nice knowing you, kids.
Chris: Quit talking down to me like I'm some kind of baby, will you? I happen to be 18 years old, not that you can tell!
Dr. Eggman: But how? You're still only bite-sized.
Ayla: Forget it Chris. Let's just get out of here.
Dr. Eggman: And how do you plan to do that?
*Chris pulled a black ball out of his pocket, threw it on the ground & a bright light filled the room. While Eggman & his robots were distracted, Chris grabbed the Emeralds & we both ran for the hanger. We got in a ship*
Chris: Activate ignition!
*We got out of there & headed back to the fortress*
Ayla: Here we come, Sonic!
*We made our way inside. As we flew down a hallway, I noticed Shadow & Rouge right next to us. He gave me a smirk & I knew right away that they was going to help us. We then floated down a vertical hall & found Knuckles, was trying to get the X Tornado flying. We switched planes & boarded the X Tornado with Shadow & Rouge right behind us. We then arrived at the battlefield. Chris threw Sonic the two Chaos Emeralds*
Chris: Sonic, catch!
*Sonic ran for them & so did Shadow. Suddenly, all seven of them started to glow. I could feel myself going into Super mode. My fur & quills turned yellow & my eyes turned red. Sonic & I sent Chaos Spears at the Metarex surrounding us. We all then flew outside*
Shadow: Well, Sonic . . . I see you and I have a lot more in common than I thought we did.
*Sonic just stared at him*
Ayla: Let's save the competition for later, boys. Right now, we have a fortress to destroy.
*They both nodded & we all flew towards the ship. Working together, we flew around the ship, destroying it from the inside out. Suddenly, a hole started to form on the middle of the ship. As it grew, space junk began getting sucked inside, along with all the ship's. We even had a hard time fighting against the gravitational pull of the hole. Red Pine's ship was pulled inside & destroyed*
Sonic: That's Eggman!
Ayla: They're gonna be destroyed if we don't do something!
Shadow: Only thing I can do.
Ayla: What do you mean?
*He turned to me*
Shadow: Take care of yourself, Ayla.
*Shadow jumped into the vortex after the Crimson Egg*
Ayla: Shadow, no!
*He landed on the ship & in a flash of light, they were gone. Along with a the Chaos Emeralds. I could still feel us getting pulled in*
Chris:*off-screen* Sonic! Ayla!
*We looked up & saw the Blue Typhoon*
Sonic: I thought you'd never get here.
*Then everything went black*
*When I opened my eyes, I was in the ship's medical room. I remembered what had happened to Shadow & broke down crying*
Note: I was going to add in Metal Sonic, but I changed my mind. Ayla's not going to meet him for a while.
