Day 2 - 8:45 PM

She saw him roll his eyes and it made her laugh on the inside. She had half expected him to want to cut all ties with her. It was what she had been thinking would happen anyway. But if he really would be ok accepting a token of her appreciation, then maybe they could at least continue on as friends… or something.

"When is Rin coming back to the village?" She asked. She wanted to know when she would see the child again, but she also wanted to know how long she would have to wait before she saw him too.

"Soon." He promised. "Within the month. You may also continue having lessons with her." He said.

She was a little taken aback. "What do you mean?" She asked.

"I know you have been teaching her, Miko." He stated.

"Yeah, so?" She countered. Not really liking his attitude on this particular matter.

"I am saying you may continue that." He repeated.

"And I am asking why you are telling me this now, as if I was not allowed to before." She was a little hurt by the comment, it made it seem that he did not think she could teach Rin anything of value.

"You were not." He said.

Her mouth fell agape and she struggled to reign in her anger.

"How dare you!" She screamed at him.

"Calm yourself miko." He ordered her.

Her mouth turned into a grimace and she was just about to tell him where he could shove it when he started to talk.

"I am merely stating that I have seen the quality of your work with Rin these past few months." He said.

She looked up at him confused. "Then why did you say I had not been allowed to teach her before?" She countered, still angry at him.

"Because, she is my daughter. I did not know the quality of your education before, and I will only allow for the best when it comes to her"

She felt her cheeks grow hot in embarrassment. "The best?" It was a high compliment coming from Sesshoumaru if he considered her to be well educated. Even though she knew that she had an unfair advantage, the fact that he even acknowledged her intelligence made her feel valued.

"Yes. The best." He replied.

She laughed a little abashed. "Heh...Sorry Sesshoumaru, it seems I owe you yet another apology."

He looked down at her and smirked.

Her eyes widened as she realized that he had gotten her mad on purpose. "Oh you!" She playfully hit his chest but her anger dissolved into a fit of giggles, to which he added his own deep chuckle.

"You are smart, Kagome; and if Rin can benefit from your tutelage it would be shortsided of me to not ask you to continue your work with her." He admitted.

"Thank you." She settled back down into his warm embrace, a stark contrast from the first time he had carried her away. 'Has it really only been since yesterday?' She asked herself. 'It feels like a lifetime ago.'

His feet touched the ground, and for a second she thought he would never let her go. He stared into her eyes and it felt as though he were trying to convey something to her. He gently let her go though and they walked to the edge of the clearing, where she could see the bone eaters well lit up by the moonlight.
