Note: Given how important this chapter is, I was actually a bit nervous writing this! But I think this came out good. Enjoy!
From even before she went to bed the previous night, Hetty knew that the next day would be a do or die day. Either catch the mole, or lose her job forever.
The day started with her going rogue to find out who the mole was herself. And in the midst of it all, Kensi was kidnapped, which made everything more dangerous.
The entire day was crazy, she shot one bad guy, blew up a whole building, and had to call one of her old JAG buddies for help. Not to mention, Her partner was almost killed, again.
Thankfully, at the end of the day. Everyone was still alive, the mole was caught, and her job was saved.
There was only 1 thing left for her to do.
At the hospital
'You're the smartass.' Granger said.
(chuckle). 'I guess do. Owen, I've been thinking a lot of things today, and, I was thinking about that night on my yacht a few years back.' Hetty said.
'And?'
'I heard what you said just before you fell asleep, and. I love you too.'
Silence.
'You, you really mean that?' Granger asked, astonished.
'Yes. Throughout my life, even as I dated several men, I thought I would be alone forever, not just because of my job, but because I could never tell them everything about myself. But, if there's anything these last 5 years have taught me, it's that love can turn up in the most unexpected places! You may be an annoying pain in my butt at work most of the time, but outside of work, you're one of the nicest guys I've ever officially or unofficially dated.' Hetty said.
Smiling, 'Come a bit closer.'
She leaned in, and he kissed her.
'I've wanted to tell you for 2 years, but I never got the nerve to really do it.' He said.
'I understand. Thank you for the past 5 years.'
They talked for a while, until Hetty went home.
It was the end of the line for him, and he knew it. Even if he could fully recover from his injuries, his health would still slowly decline.
He didn't want Hetty to watch him slowly die, so. When he felt good enough to walk, He left a note for her, and left to be with his daughter.
'I may not get to be the man she one day marries, but at least I can still be the father my daughter didn't get to have.' He thought, as he left the hospital. 'Farewell, Henrietta.'
