"Time for cake!" Erin shouted as she walked over to the picnic table at the park. Jay was holding the birthday girl on his hip as everyone started singing.
"Hip hip!" Jay shouted.
"Hooray!" Everyone else yelled back and copied another two times.
"Blow out the candles Lil bear." Jay said to his very excited toddler who was now standing on the fold up chair at the end of the table.
Once she blew out all three candles with the help of her father everyone clapped and cheered while she was very quick to dive in with her hands.
"Okay sweetheart let Mumma plate it up and then you can eat some." Erin chuckled as she stepped in and took the cake before it was entirely ruined.
"Erin I had no idea Will was getting Lily a bunny rabbit for her birthday, trust me if I did there is no way I would have let him without your guys approval." Natalie said as she approached Erin who was getting all Lily's presents together and disposing of the wrapping paper.
Erin chuckled, "I believe you don't stress. I know how Will can be sometimes, how he is a doctor with that brain of his surprises me."
"I totally agree with you there. So are you going to keep the little guy."
She shrugged, "Look how excited she is with him," Erin pointed to their daughter who was happily playing show and tell, "We can't break her little heart, but let's just say if Zeus decides he's hungry for a snack I won't complain."
Nat laughed, "Maybe wrap some treats around the little guy so he's more intriguing."
"Good idea. But yeah no totally kidding, I guess the god dam rabbit stays."
"Trust me next time Will is in charge of the present I will be with him every step of the way."
"Please. Our family is expanding enough, we really don't need anymore furry creatures running around enough." Erin chuckled as she rubbed her belly.
"You excited for the little guy?"
Erin nodded, "So excited, but him," she pointed at Jay, "He is over the moon and cannot wait for a son. I don't think he gives himself enough credit but he is the greatest father and will do anything for his family."
"No matter how much the Halstead man drives us nuts they are pretty great."
"Not wrong there. So are you guys thinking of giving Owen a sibling?" Natalie started to go shy, like she was hiding something, "Oh my god! Your pregnant aren't you!"
"Just hit twelve weeks yesterday." Natalie smiled.
"Ahhhh! That's so great," Erin bought her in for a hug just as the Halstead brothers were walking over, "I'm so happy for you guys."
"What's going on over here?" Jay questioned.
"I think your brother has some news to tell you." Erin said pointing to Will who was slowly figuring out what was happening.
"What news would that be? Because I know the news of getting my daughter a bunny slipped the headlines." Jay joked, slight bit of annoyance in his voice.
"We are having a baby." Will said as he bought Natalie into his side.
"Seriously?" Jays tune quickly changed as he looked between all of them, his wife nodding excitedly, "Guys congrats, that's great."
"Thanks man." Will said bringing his little brother into a hug.
"I can't wait to be an uncle again." Jay said happily as he hugged Natalie too, he already considered himself an uncle even though Owen wasn't blood related.
Erin and Jay fell back onto the lounge after their long day of running around with their little one and their friends and family from the hospital, firehouse 51 and the district.
The birthday thankfully went off without a hitch if you don't think about a couple petting zoo animals getting out of their pen and the adults having to wrangling them back in or the princess fairy that was meant to do face paint called up with all these excuses. Luckily Kim and Sylvie stepped in and went to get face paint and happily helped out. It was the perfect day for their perfect girl.
"Another year down." Erin said exhausted.
"Foot rub?" Jay suggested as Erin happily nodded and quickly put her feet on Jay, "To think next year we will have another one to run after, is crazy."
"Your not wrong. But I can't wait babe."
"Me either," he said rubbing her belly, he then moved her feet and lifted up her shirt as he quickly kissed her swelling stomach, "Can't wait to meet you little guy, daddy loves you."
"Your going to be great you know. He will be lucky to have a father like you." She traced her fingers through his hair as he continued to rub and talk to her belly. To think this would be her life now she would have told someone five years ago they were kidding themselves.
Jay got up angrily, he couldn't sleep with Erin's stupid pregnancy pillow taking up half the bed, "Erin this is ridiculous."
"No what's ridiculous is you thinking it's so ridiculous when you don't understand how I feel." She huffed out.
"Erin how many times do I have to tell you I'm sorry I don't understand and I'm trying my hardest here but I have to get up in less then three hours and I have had a total of two hours sleep."
"Then go sleep on the couch." She turned away from him.
"Seriously?"
"Seriously."
"Fine then." Jay said as he stood up grabbing his pillow and the throw blanket that was lying on the floor at the end of the bed.
It wasn't anymore then half an hour that Erin dragged herself out of bed and made her way into the lounge room, where she found Jay tossing and turning, "You do know we have spare bedrooms with comfy guest beds."
He sat up looking at his wife who was forming tears in her eyes, "I didn't even thinking about it."
She nodded, "I'm sorry."
He held out his arms for her, "Come here."
She slowly walked over to him and sat on her lap as he wrapped his arms around her, "I will get rid of the pillow."
"No keep the god dam pillow." Jay chuckled.
"Really?"
"Yeah really, but can I sometimes at-least replace the pillow? I miss cuddling you and I can't sleep when you feel a million miles away."
She kissed his cheek, "I think I can handle that."
"Come on then, let's get you two snuggled up in bed again." Jay said pulling her towards the bedroom.
"I think I can handle the rest of tonight's sleep without the pillow too." She smiled.
"Hmm. I like the sound of that."
