Author's Note: Hey guys, thanks for waiting. I wrote the dialogue for this chapter and it took me a while to put it together. On top of that, my life has been busy for me. So, in honor of Riverdale getting an early renewal for season six (I can't tell you how thrilled I am), here's a new installment of Runaway Love!
Thank you to Jay 777 for the favorite & follow, & thank you to Boris Yeltsin, Crimson Commander 688, and Guest (I'll try to update Ghosts & Monsters in the Big Apple just as soon as I can) for the reviews. I hope you all enjoy!
Happy reading, I do not own Riverdale.
Chapter 72
During her lunch break, Betty goes to the sheriff's station. She planned to interrogate Grundy under the guise of an interview. Once Charles let her in, Betty goes to Geraldine's cell.
"Ms. Grundy?" She asks.
Geraldine faces her. The ex-music teacher's demeanor was sad and gloomy.
"Yes?"
"I was wondering if you and I had the time." Betty smiles politely, putting on the good girl façade.
"Time for what?" Geraldine questioned, confused.
"The Blue and Gold is doing a series of articles spotlighting teachers, and you're our first." Betty responds.
"And don't worry, this has nothing to do with your dalliance with Archie." She adds, sitting across from Geraldine, facing her. Geraldine smiles back, feeling somewhat at ease.
"Thank you for taking the time, Ms. Grundy. Now, let's begin. Uh, you joined the faculty last year. Where did you move to Riverdale from?" Betty inquired.
"Here and there. I was just mostly on the road." Geraldine answered.
"But, you've taught at other schools?" Betty questioned.
"Oh, yeah. Of course." Geraldine said.
"Yeah, right. Uh, can I get their names?" Betty asks.
"Heh, Seaside High. Centreville High;" Geraldine replied.
"What made you leave?" Betty asked.
"They were temporary placements. Just filling in for maternity, sabbatical…" Geraldine explains.
"Hmm," said Betty.
"Things like that," Geraldine interjects. "That was my first permanent position."
"Getting back to music." Betty changes the subject. "You were working with Archie Andrews on an independent music study. Have you ever done this thing before?"
"Yes. Last year. With Tomoko Yoshido and Jason Blossom." Geraldine informed.
Betty looks at her mildly surprised.
"Jason?" She asked. "Before…"
"Such a tragedy." Geraldine finished. "He was an inspiration."
"And cute, right?" Betty jokingly asks.
"I don't think of my students that way." Geraldine denied.
"No, no, no…" Betty protests, realizing her mistake.
"I'm sorry. I think we're done here." Geraldine gets up, walking away from the blonde.
A/N: Ah, Betty. At least you tried.
Up next, Veronica & Kevin chat about the Twilight Drive-In and Cheryl, being the smug Gossip Girl she is, shows Veronica pictures of Hermione and FP; and later Ronnie confronts Mama Lodge.
More to come!
