Surf Club - The Gym
"Could you cover the boot camp for me? I've got stuff to sort up here." Casey asks Tyler as he finishes with a client.
"Sure, is it boxing today?" Tyler checks with him.
"Yeah, just the usual people. I'm not sure if Emily will be there or not as she had some plans with her parents again." Casey says, having seen her with Kyle before his shift.
"Okay. I've got a client due in before lunch, could you tell them to hang around if I've not finished the boot camp in time?" Tyler asks.
"Since when did you do private sessions?" Casey asks.
"It's not a private session, they just thought Heath was too demanding." Tyler laughs as he grabs the boxing equipment. "If you're free, you can start it for me. They're doing rehab exercises to start with as they're recovering from spinal surgery, the info is on the desk somewhere." He says before walking out.
"Somewhere." Casey mutters, rummaging through the paperwork in the tray, eventually finding it.
"How come Tyler's doing the boot camp?" Heath asks as he walks in.
"I had stuff to do here." Casey mutters. "You're not on shift today."
"I know. I just wanted to know if that woman has been back since you last saw her." Heath says.
"No, have you found her yet?" Casey asks.
"Not yet. I've just been at the diner asking if she had been back, and Leah said she had, but said the same as the other day. But I think it could be their mum because she wasn't asking about Kyle this time. She only mentioned Tyler and Lucas to them." Heath says.
"What happens now?" Casey asks, not knowing how Kyle would take it if he was to meet his biological mum.
"I told them to send her here if she turns up again. I know this is Tyler's last shift for a few days, and I wasn't sure about Lucas or Kyle's shifts, so I thought it would be a better shout than Angelo's." Heath says.
"Okay, are you sticking around then?" Casey asks.
"No, Bianca has a scan that I want to be there for. If she does turn up, call me straight away and tell her to wait." Heath says. "I've just spoken to the boys and they're going back to Irene's to watch that new thriller series they were on about the other day. Sounds like Tyler was joining them after his shift, and they also want me to collect an order from Angelo's for them later." He rolls his eyes.
"Brax always took them pizza over when he went to check on them, and you've taken over his duties while he's away." Casey smirks. "But when you go over, tell them to not spoil it for me. I want to see that series but I told Denny I'd watch it with her."
"Yeah, I guess I did agree to that." Heath mutters. "But I'm sure Brax wasn't their personal slave like this, they're just milking it."
"No, I wouldn't go that far but Brax did take it over on his own accord cause that's the type of brother he is. Take note, Heath. Kyle needs cheering up again today, the tablets he's on are starting to give him worse side effects than they did in the beginning." Casey says.
"Yeah, Lucas said they were. Nate said they wouldn't last this long but Kyle shouldn't stop taking them. Maybe the side effects will stop soon." Heath says. "Anyway, I better go and get Bianca from the diner before we're late."
"You know you can trust me in knowing the gender. I won't tell the triplets." Casey smiles.
"Nice try bro." Heath laughs, walking out to meet his girlfriend.
Irene's House
"Tyler just texted, he said he'll be over soon. Should I ask him to get something from Angelo's or the diner?" Lucas asks his brother.
"I'm not hungry, but you can if you want anything." Kyle says.
"You need to eat something, you skipped breakfast." Lucas sighs, not having seen Kyle this bad since going on the tablets.
"No, I don't think I can stomach anything."
"I thought Nate said increased appetite was a side effect, not loss of appetite." Lucas says.
"He said in some cases it could cause loss of appetite, but I'm not allowed to stop taking them. I asked him for different tablets but he said these were the most effective. It will probably pass soon." Kyle mutters.
"I hope it does, I don't like seeing you like this." Lucas sighs.
"Then go home. We can do this another day."
"No, I'm not going anywhere. You know I'm never going to let you be alone when you're having a bad day. What happened to letting me help you through this?" Lucas asks.
"I'm not your responsibility and staying here was meant to give me more alone time so I can work through stuff. I can't do that when you're there all the time like my shadow. It's exhausting trying to entertain you when I just want you to leave me alone!" Kyle snaps.
"You don't mean that." Lucas mutters.
"Don't I?" Kyle scoffs, Lucas walking out in silence.
Summer Bay Beach
"Hey mate." Heath says as he approaches Lucas, who was sitting in the dunes.
"Aren't you meant to be at a baby scan?" Lucas asks.
"We just got back. We popped into Irene's on the way home, I was expecting you to be there with Kyle." Heath says. "Tyler wasn't there either, apparently Kyle text him telling him to not bother going."
"Kyle said he doesn't want me around anymore." Lucas mutters.
"I'm sure that's not true, he loves having you around." Heath frowns.
"He said he wanted me to leave him alone because I'm exhausting. I thought I was helping."
"Mate, I'm sure he didn't mean that how it sounds. These meds are really messing with him and he's not himself. Just because he wanted you to leave, it doesn't mean he meant the Bay, or for good. He might just want the day to himself." Heath says.
"I know exactly what he meant. He's only feeling like this because of me and Tyler moving here, us having more things in common with you guys. We should have left instead of staying. It would have prevented a lot of upset-"
"Seriously, Lucas. Kyle feeling like this isn't just because of you and Tyler moving here. Yeah, it was a bit of a big factor, but it's a load of other stuff as well." Heath says.
"But mainly us."
"I know I'm not the best brother for this soppy talk, but we all love having you around, Kyle especially. Before you came, Kyle felt left out because he didn't have a bond like we all did. He was the half brother who arrived under a tricky situation and wasn't given the greatest welcome by us." Heath says, knowing it could have been a lot better if they knew him sooner. "When he started to know you, I noticed a change in him. He had a full brother around and it made him happier knowing he had a bond with someone like me, Brax and Casey. And the deeper bond you guys have being born together, that is stronger than anything, despite you not having known about each other for long. Brother's fight, I know that more than anyone, and you and Kyle will get through this, you just have to give him a bit of time to get his head sorted by himself."
"But I don't want him to be alone when he's feeling like this. He needs to know he has us." Lucas says.
"He already knows that. You've been great to him and I know he appreciates it a lot. Just let him get past this rough patch by himself like he wants, and then try again." Heath says.
"How long will that take?"
"I don't know, it depends on how his next counselling session goes in a few days." Heath says.
"He wouldn't eat anything, what if he doesn't until then?"
"I'll let Irene know, she'll keep an eye on him for us." Heath says. "I told him I'd check back in with him tonight, so I'll let you know if it worked."
"So he's letting you see him?"
"No, he had a few choice words for me but I'm the big bro, so I say what I do." Heath smirks. "Just don't worry, I'm going to speak to Nate about these meds to get it sorted."
"Kyle said he already has and those ones were the best ones." Lucas says.
"Mate, I can be pretty persuasive when I want to be, plus I've got a hormonal pregnant girlfriend who seems to be getting her own way over everything. We'll get something sorted." Heath reassures.
"Okay." Lucas sighs. "I just hate feeling this useless."
"You're not being useless, you need to stop beating yourself up when you can't fix things." Heath says, bumping his shoulder.
"Yeah, it's always been my downfall." Lucas lightly smiles.
