Chapter Text
Monday: Seconds after Appearing on Nabu
Aizawa walked past the first group of people without saying a single word, disappearing into the building they would be using for hero studies. SinceTenya, Momo, and Izuku were the only ones already through the portal, only they witnessed this spectacle.
"Huh, guess he really did mean the second we got here." Izuku then slapped himself with both of his hands, no time to mope. The rest of his class trickled out and Izuku started with a headcount as the rest of the class formed a small semi circle flanking himself and Mo. "Alright so let's stick to the plan, first things first. We set up our agency, no point in publicizing ourselves if we aren't even able to be called to serve. Shinsou you're on logistics for now, make sure the phone system is set up and working, if not let one of us know so we can help or get help. We'll figure it out together so no worries. Meet back out in the main room of the building in 20 minutes. Any questions?"
"Yeah, where'd Aizawa-sensei go?" Sero asked.
"He just dipped, knowing him, he's probably already asleep inside." Izuku shrugged.
"Yeah that sounds about right." Shinsou muttered, followed by a collective groan sounding throughout the class.
Let's do this guys!" Izuku then turned on his heels and strode into the building. A weak couple of yeahs! were all he got but he'd take them over nothing at all.
Upon entering what would be their home for the next week, Izuku took stock of the place. Aizawa had specifically not shown them the floor plan because it was 'rational' or whatever, it'd only take them like a few extra minutes to get everything sorted anyway. The first room he entered was a foyer type room with a secretarially style desk. From there, there were two different ways you could go, if you went right, stairs that likely led up to the second floor, if you went left, a room absolutely lined with computers and desks.
"I like it Zu, it's quaint." Momo added as she also scanned the building.
"Same, gives off a kind of a humble beginnings vibe. We'll just have to work our way up to the top from here." Izuku smiled at Momo. "Anyway I'm heading this way." The boy decided it would be more prudent to drop his stuff off first then start exploring the work area and went on up to the next floor.
"I'm right behind you. We can explore this place when we are unburdened." Momo added as she fell in step.
"You think they'll let us share a room?" Izuku asked as he climbed the stairs.
When the boy went to open the door to the second floor, it slammed open on it's own, leaving Aizawa standing there in his sleeping bag glaring a hole through them. "No." This was followed by the man getting back into caterpillar form and squirming off.
"That nearly gave me a heart attack." Izuku winced after having jumped backwards, almost knocking Momo over.
"Me as well." Momo let out a huff. "Though kind of expected knowing Aizawa-sensei."
"Whelp for practicality's sake I'm going to take one of the one's with a balcony facing the front door so I can just jump in and out that way. Honestly kind of gotten used to that thanks to U.A.'s dorms and you know, being able to fly." Izuku took a left and went for one of the closer rooms.
"I suppose I'll do the same but next to your room."
Izuku gave her a knowing look.
"For practicalities sake of course!" Momo quickly added. "It'll be easier if both of the class reps are next to each other, that way our class can find one of us quicker." Momo frantically tried to explain herself.
"Mo I literally just asked if we could share rooms, it's fine." Izuku chuckled as he opened the door to his room he then threw his bag on top of the bed.
After he finished his brief examination of the room the boy exited the room to find Momo doing the same. "I do hope this place has a laundry machine, there is no way I'm wearing the same 2 costumes for the entire week." The girl whined.
"Yeah we're on an island with beaches and stuff, that just sounds sweaty and gross. I'd wager based on the building's design if it had any, they'd be on this floor or in a basement somewhere since the entire first floor seems to be some kind of reception area." As Izuku and Momo continued to explore the second floor the majority of their class began to trickle up stairs. "Oh hey Momo, to make things easier can you create like twenty name placards and hand them out to everyone. That way we don't need to memorize whose in what room."
"Of course!" Momo then gleefully added as she peered into another room. "Oh hey I found the washing machine room! It has a vending machine as well. I do wonder if that'll last a week though."
"Maybe we have to actually call to get it restocked if we want to?" Izuku guessed.
"That's very ... realistic."
Izuku just shrugged. "We should probably get someone to make a grocery run. I'm thinking Tenya? I trust him more to actually do it correctly and he's one of the fastest. That or Tokoyami since he can ya know, fly now. I'd go myself but I'm on poster duty with my pigeons, along with a few other things that need to be handled. Plus one of us two needs to stay here at all times to make executive decisions." The boy paused in thought. "Well anyway let's get back downstairs and wait for everybody."
Momo just nodded and they walked back into the room with the computers and desks. "I suppose we can make this our center of operations, there's a kitchen in here too. It'll be like our common room back at the dorms."
"Yeah that sounds like a good idea Mo." Izuku said as he dropped into a lounge chair. "Honestly this place is pretty nice. It's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside."
Momo plopped down beside him. "Indeed."
Izuku then began scrolling his phone for villain attacks.
"Hmm, what are you looking at Zu?"
"Oh just scrolling hero news, old habits die hard you know."
"You really are a hero nerd, even after being number 47." Momo chuckled.
"Big talk from number 35." Izuku cut back.
"What do you guys mean by 35 and 47?" Jiro appeared behind them suddenly as she poked her head between the two, the spider-like changes to her face combined with the sudden appearance caused the pair to jump. Both flailing and falling off the couch.
Izuku wheezed in relief that it was just Jiro. "Sorry we were just already on edge because we got jump scared earlier by Aizawa-sensei."
The look on the rockers face made it seem like she didn't believe him.
Momo saw the depressed look on her friends face and tried to quickly relieve her. "He's right! It wasn't because you look different or anything!"
The quirk stealer just gave a look to Mo that said 'Really?'.
"I - it's okay. I know it's a sudden change." Jiro deflated further.
"No really Jiro, we were just surprised is all." Momo reiterated.
"O-okay. You never did answer my question though." Jiro quickly changed the awkward topic they found themselves in.
Izuku scratched the back of his head. "Umm, promise not to tell the others Jiro? We don't want to offend anyone or make it sound like we're better."
Jirou just tilted her head and clicked her fangs. "Sure?"
Momo then took the bullet since Izuku seemed like he didn't want to be the one to say it. "Well basically, apparently we got ranked on the hero board due to the efforts we've undertaken but they weren't posted and wellllll ... I got 35 and Izuku got 47 ?" Momo quickly stammered out.
Jirou just stared at the duo for a few seconds, all four of her eyes blinking unsymmetrically. "I'm not even surprised." Jiro said before collapsing on the sofa apart from them.
"And that's why we haven't told anyone." Izuku added.
"Yeah it wouldn't be rocking to demoralize everyone like that. I'll keep my mouth shut, I owe you for the quirk anyway." Jiro then paused for a second. "Oh that reminds me! I've been trying to use the legs, I managed to pull them out but I can't make them move for some reason. You got any ideas green?"
Izuku stroked his chin while he thought for a second. "Sorry Jiro, I've never actually used the quirk. I directly transferred it from the villain I took it from to Arakiel." Then an idea suddenly hit him and he opened a portal, the previously spider legged monstrosity walked through. Instead now it just had it's angel wings and fang like teeth.
"You called my lord?" Arakiel asked.
"You possessed the quirk: 'Spider' Arakiel. How did it work?" Izuku asked the creation.
The animal switched between the girl who now possessed his old gift and his god. "I see, you are attempting to lecture the servant in your blessings' use. I am overjoyed to serve you Creator."
'Servant?!' Jiro thought blankly.
Momo could easily see the confusion on the girls face due to the fact she had the very same look several weeks ago. "They prefer to talk like that, it's best to just ignore it."
Arakiel looked pained for a second. "My queen! If my speech offends, I shall change it to your preference. Please do not be angry with this humble soldier." The thing then kneeled before the creation user.
Momo just sighed exasperatedly. "See?"
"I think ... I get it?" Jiro had only gotten more confused, why is Momo the queen? Why do they refer to Midoriya as lord and the creator? If they came from green shouldn't they talk more normally?
"Anyway we're getting off topic. Arakiel, explain to Jiro how the four spider legs work." Izuku cut in.
"Of course my liege." Then the animal stood once more. "I suppose it best to explain it as a natural movement of one's own body. How does one move their arm, their leg? My body was created in my god's image, as such, I have always possessed additional limbs compared to a regular human, however the same logic should apply to you as it did to me. I do not think to move one of my extra arms nor did I think to move the spider legs, they were a part of me as much as any other part of myself. Does this answer satisfy you, purple one?"
Jiro looked at Arakiel and was impressed that an animal broke it down so well. "I guess ... I do." In hindsight, it made total sense, you don't think 'arm move!' And then your arm moves, you just move your arm, why would these extra legs be any different. "I don't suppose you can help me train this later can you green?"
"Yeah I gotcha Jiro, we're going to start drills tomorrow once the agency is up and running. I'm helping a couple others as well, and Uraraka is training with Bakugo." Izuku then tapped his head thoughtfully with a pencil. "Who's on patrol tomorrow Mo?"
The girls near eidetic memory kicked in and she mechanically responded. "It's Tokoyami, Sato, Mina, Aoyama, Iida, and Tsu. On call we have myself, you, Jiro, Kirishima, Kaminari, and Shinsou. I believe everyone else is on training duty or helping to fix any loose ends regarding our agency."
"We can swap me and Sero then. With that I can handle training, does that work?"
"It should Zu. I'll let Sero know when everyone gathers."
Arakiel had been silent but finally interjected. "Do you require any additional assistance my lord?"
"Ah yes I was going to call them later but can you usher in the hand pigeons, I will have them remain hidden on the roof for the time being. No need to scare the people on this island, and I might as well not waste an opened portal. No need to stress Warp Gate more than I need to."
"Understood my lord." The quirk then bowed before leaving.
Izuku then stood before the flood of pigeons erupted from the portal, he quickly opened the front door as the swarm appeared. The pigeons quickly exited the room via the opened door and went to rest on the roof. "I know we're all pretty much desensitized to an army of hand pigeons but dear god imagine what the civilians would think if they saw that." Izuku chuckled, shutting the door and sitting back down.
"I believe Mina said it best, but gree, what the actual fuck, I know it's not your fault but still. Then again, pretty much anyone wielding as many different powers as you do would scare someone. I know I've said it before but thank god you got that quirk and not someone like Denki or even worse, another villain like All for One. If two of them were up and walking about I don't think I could sleep soundly at night." The girl then thought for a bit, she hadn't talked to her boyfriend since she got Spider. She should probably do that at some point or he might think she's avoiding him.
"Yo!" Mina smiled and waved as she walked in. "So, oh great leader, what's our meeting gonna be about?"
"Everyone should be here soon but were just confirming a couple things. Momo can you start handing out the placards?" Izuku asked the girl as he stood and walked over to the kitchen counter.
"You got it Zu!" Momo stood quickly before walking over to Jiro and Mina and handing them the name cards. "These are for your room, we wanted to make finding each other's rooms easier."
"Sounds good to me!" Mina saluted before dropping into the couch where Izuku had been sitting.
The rest of the class trickled in as Izuku stood by the kitchen counter and Momo kept handing people their placards. The death glare Kaminari gave him as he strolled in did nothing to assuage his slight guilt but whatever, the electric boy would get over it. Once everyone was in, the quirk stealer spoke.
"Alright so the plan is simple and as we've discussed there will be a few alterations due to the unknown layout of the building we were going to be given. Would you care to take it away Vice Prez?"
"No problem Izu. Alright so I'm handing out these revised schedules." The girl said as a stack of paper dropped out of her arm. "It's mostly the same but Sero you're swapping with Izuku for training for a few days, he wanted to help out a couple of people with their quirks as well as test a few of his own. Is that okay with you?"
"You got it boss lady." Sero responded.
Momo gave a curt nod before continuing. "Shinsou, how is the comms situation? Was it already set up like we thought it'd be or do we need to get it working?"
The purple haired boy just lazily responded. "Yeah it's all good, the numbers and line transfer codes are next to the fridge. And for the record when you suggested I worked comms, I didn't think you'd actually make me work comms. Wouldn't someone more sociable like Ashido do a better job?"
Izuku was the one to respond that time. "You're not actually doing any of the phone call stuff you're just tech support, since you said you were good at that kind of thing. Asking you to actually handle calls would be like asking Aizawa-sensei to do that." Izuku chuckled a bit. "And we all know how that'd go. Just imagine someone screaming for help on the other end of the line; Aizawa just hangs up and goes back to sleep."
That elicited a few chuckles from the class as well.
Momo brought the talk back on topic. "Now then, we need to handle amenities and a few other things. Iida can you make a grocery run? I'll have a list ready in a moment if that works with you."
"Understood Vice President, I shall not disappoint you!" Iida bowed enthusiastically.
"Good, now onto patrol routes and other things. Here's a map of the island, first familiarize yourself with it. Then we need to get our name out there or people won't even realize they can call us for help." Momo explained quickly as she started jumping between topics.
Izuku just smiled and nodded. She always did such a good job when she took charge like this. Honestly made him feel a bit unnecessary but eh, they both had their strong suits. It was about another thirty minutes before the meeting was called and everyone sent on their tasks for the day. Overall a pretty good experience and everyone seemed pretty motivated, which was a far cry from the tense atmosphere they had just that morning.
Tuesday: 8 AM
The quirk stealer made sure to check his phone again for the same reason as yesterday but still it eluded him. With a quick hop he leapt out of bed and started stretching for the day. His pigeons had done their job wonderfully, though Izuku had waited until night before unleashing his flock. Moving them around like that cost a lot of life but it wasn't too much as he was mostly full already, a far cry from the forest situation. He chuckled a bit as he realized somehow, something he'd made as a joke became one of his most useful and versatile weapons. Need a bunch of flyers put up? Send in the pigeons. Need to scout the streets for villain activity? Send in the pigeons. Need a target taken down? Send in the pigeons.
If only using them for hours on end didn't completely deplete their life reserves they'd be infinitely more useful. He just sighed, thinking that'd make things too easy if he could have an army autonomously patrolling at every hour of every day. A knock to his door caused him to pause his musing and his stretches. "You can come in, it's fine." Izuku called out.
Jiro came walking in. "Sup Green, you down to help with my quirk a bit early?"
Izuku just tilted his head at the girl. "Sure but don't you wanna eat first? Sato's on duty so that probably means it'll be good."
Jiro then had a slight blush and started clinking her ear jacks together. "I um, don't want anyone to see okay? It's really embarrassing as it is adjusting to everything. The sight, the legs, the ... cravings, my sleep schedule, and now I can't even use the quirk properly and I feel like I have sensory overload half the time."
"Jiro, it's totally normal to need time to adjust. You're literally the only person in our class that's gotten a mutant quirk from me. Hell, even I avoid mutant quirks most of the time." Izuku then pointed at his black void filled eyes as he hadn't put his contacts on yet. "Just these were a bitch and a half to get used to. I can't imagine what you must be going through, I'm sure most of the class gets it too, they won't judge or make fun of you. You've barely had the quirk for two days, you'll get there okay?" Izuku flashed her a bright smile.
"I uh, thanks green. I appreciate it, but I still want to get myself under control before the others see me." Her blush had lightened a bit and she seemed a bit less nervous so Izuku took that as a win.
"Alright then follow me." Izuku said before scribbling a note and putting it on his bed for Mo when she inevitably came looking for him. This was followed by the greenette opening a portal which confused Jiro greatly.
"Um?"
"You said you didn't want to be seen, we can do this at my favorite testing spot back at U.A. Some of the quirks I have are too dangerous for even the training gyms so the forest is better for me." He explained.
"Oh thanks Green! But don't stress yourself okay? I know what that quirk does to you and I don't want Yaomomo on my case if you start to get a nosebleed." The spider girl replied before following the boy through the portal to the forests of U.A.
Once there Izuku turned and closed the portal. "Alright so we just need to get the legs to work, you can already pull them out right? Let's start with that then."
The girl instantly started blushing which confused Izuku. "Is there a problem?"
"Um I don't want to rip my shirt so do you mind l-looking away?"
"I don-" 'Oh.' Yeah Izuku turned around pretty rapidly after that. "You might want to start putting holes in your shirts Jiro." Izuku said while looking the other way.
"Y-your probably r-right Green." Jiro stuttered out. "Okay so I'm going to just try moving them." 'Don't think, don't think, don't think, just move.' Jirou kept repeating to herself as the appendages emerged from her back.
Izuku heard the sound of the fleshy things being stretched out, (If you've ever seen aliens, the sound of a face hugger leaving an egg is basically what it sounds like.) and even he had to admit, that was a kind of disgusting noise. It was all gurgly and squishy, like a tentacle writhing about, he also wanted to see them physically but the other girl was likely only in a bra and pants at the moment and would get pretty angry if he did that.
The quirk giver then heard a slight thud. "You good?"
"Yeah, sorry I fell over. The legs really mess with your sense of balance ... ha ha." Jiro laughed awkwardly which did nothing to help the mood. She then tried to flex her back muscles and see if that would move the spider like appendages but all it did was make them twitch slightly, which while a positive sign, frustrated her to no end. These stupid things wouldn't stop moving when she first got the quirk but now they seemed to refuse to listen to her.
She let out a loud sigh which the other person took notice of. "Um Jirou, you sure you're okay? I won't turn around but feel free to talk me through the process you're going through. Also seriously, talk to Momo, she can make you what you need. This is um ... awkward."
Kyoka sighed again realizing he was right. "I'll ... uh talk to her later and don't worry green I trust you for the most part alright? I wouldn't be shirtless out here with you if I didn't and I guess if you're offering advice. It's just they refuse to listen to me when I want them too. When I first got the quirk they were spazzing all over the place, now they don't even want to move." Kyoka lamented.
Izuku then put a hand on his chin. "Jirou have you ever heard of the dancing squid sashimi dish?"
The greenette took her not responding for an answer. "Well forgive me for this horrible analogy but basically it's a dish where by adding sodium ions to a ..." Izuku trailed off realizing that his girlfriend's nerd speech probably wouldn't help here. "Sorry Mo's basically a chemistry major, anyway salt causes the tendons in a dead squid to fire, making it look like it's dancing. The whole point of the dish is to be aesthetically pleasing but at the end of the day it bears relevance here. When you first received the quirk you weren't in control. The muscles were spasming, firing on their own. Now, you are the one who tells them what to do, it's foreign, it won't feel natural at first and it certainly isn't based on anything you've ever done. For example people can flex their pecs but I can't do that, now this is my best guess but something similar should apply to you. It's an unused muscle, something that should be second nature to you by now was implanted. Babies need to walk before they can run right? You need to try and use muscles that don't exist naturally to you if that makes any sense, because they do exist, at least they do now."
Kyoka turned to look at the boy who was still staring far away from her, thankful that at least he kept his word. "That makes ... sense. So I should focus on using parts of my body I never use." The earphone jack user then paused. "Uh Green, how long does it take for someone to learn to flex their pecs? I'm just trying to get a ballpark here."
Izuku then grimaced. "Um Jiro, I don't think you want the answer to that. Just try your best, you'll get there?"
Jiro's frown grew. "Green ... HOW. LONG?"
Izuku sighed. "At worst like two months?..."
The outraged screech didn't even surprise him, the shrill sound did hurt his ears though. "TWO MONTHS?! I'M GOING TO BE LIKE THIS FOR TWO MONTHS?! THAT DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE EVERYTHING ELSE!" Jirou then noticed the crouched over and guilty looking boy, even from behind and she realized she went too far. "Midoriya, I'm not mad at you. I asked for this okay? Sorry I ... overreacted. I should've checked in with you more about this. You did warn me and everything ..." He had and she ignored him, this was entirely her fault.
"I mean I guess you can avoid using the legs for now, what else has the quirk done to you in the meantime?" Izuku asked inquisitively.
"Well I think you forgot to mention the super strength but also my eyesight has gotten a lot better so I guess just those two things are useful enough for now?" Jiro really couldn't complain even with just those two features and not full access to her new quirks full power.
"Increased strength?" Izuku hadn't heard anything about that from Arakiel or even Tsukauchi when he explained the quirk to him... Oh no. "WAIT A MINUTE!" Izuku quickly pulled his phone out before googling a question. The answer was roughly what he figured it'd be, still shocking though. "Uh J-jiro ... h-have you tried using your full strength ever?"
Jiro tilted her head inquisitively. "No? Why green? After I broke my door knob on accident I've been kinda holding back quite a bit."
Izuku then held his phone up behind him. "You may want to read this then."
The girl was quite confused but walked over anyway and read the thing the greenette was holding out. It took her a few seconds blinking in disbelief. "SOME SPIDERS CAN LIFT ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY TIMES THEIR BODY WEIGHT?! WHAT THE FUCK GREEN?! HOW DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT THIS QUIRK DID THAT?!"
The clicking shrieks coming the girl hardly surprised him. "Well that's the jumping spider, and that's an example of the strongest one. I'm reading other comparative examples but uh Jiro you may wanna be careful hitting someone from now on. You might kill them." Izuku then pulled his phone back and scrolled a bit more. "At worst you could be as strong as an orb weaver which would give you the agility of an acrobat but the weight lifting strength of a bodybuilder, a tarantula would give you raw power allowing you to bust metal doors off their hinges, and oh my god can you produce spider silk? I know you can make poison but how strong is it? If you can make silk how strong is that? I used the Darwin's Bark Spider for my costume, if your silk is anywhere near that level of tensile strength you could do some amazing things with that." Izuku continued to mutter while Jiro stood behind the greenette who was currently lost in his own mind.
The girl went and put her shirt on before trying something. She saw a moderately sized tree nearby and decided to see what she could really do if she let loose.
Izuku on the other hand just kept muttering. "If the poison is a nerve poison she could kill people but what if -" He was interrupted by shouting.
"GREEN!"
Izuku turned to see the girl casually holding up a tree she'd ripped out of the ground.
"Oh."
Izuku then went and checked his phone to calculate that. "Hey Jiro, uh, not trying to be rude here but how much do you weigh? Kinda relevant."
Kyoka was slightly taken aback at first but realized he was right. "About 145 pounds."
"Alright doing the math anddddddddd, yeah okay that makes absolutely no sense. The required force to uproot a tree is about 13,300 newtons of force. So all I can is, what the actual fuck Jiro."
The girl blushed for a second before lowering the tree to the ground, even with her new strength keeping it up wasn't exactly easy. "I couldn't just pull it out of the ground, I had to dislodge it first but um yeah, that's new."
"No shit! Where the fuck is Arakiel?! Why did he never fucking mention that little tidbit of information?! ON TOP OF THAT, THE FUCK TSUKAUCHI, WHERE WAS THIS ON THE QUIRK NOTES?!" Izuku screamed out in rage despite neither of the parties being here. "Sorry Jiro I really should've done more research on Spider before I gave that quirk to you."
"I'm not complaining, this is rad dude! Imagine being able to bench press a tree. If anything I'm way happier with it than before!" The purple haired girl smiled brightly.
Izuku sighed. "Well as long as you like it. Anyway this is probably enough practice for the day, we've already learned a ton. Just practice controlling the legs in your off time and I don't even want to get started working on the poison without someone like recovery girl around. "He paused for a second. "Actually on second thought, we should definitely give her a sample of your poison to study."
"Yeah I'll try and do that when we get back to U.A. Alright let's head back to Nabu. I need to go talk to your girlfriend about the shirt thing." Then Kyoka looked down for a second. "Also guess that means I have to revamp my costume. Oh well." Jiro lamented. For this strength though? Absolutely worth it.
"Sounds good to me." Izuku said before opening a portal and the pair stepping through.
Wednesday: Noon
Momo looked at the schedule and noticed everything was running swimmingly. She took a small sip of her tea as she waited in the call room, Izuku was busy training with the others so it left her in charge should anything happen. Not that she expected anything to happen of course, this island was incredibly peaceful. Maybe she shouldn't jinx it though by thinking like that.
She swirled the glass before setting it down, then she looked at the blinking message on the computer in front of her and sighed. "Hey Kaminari, old man Mushi needs his car battery charged again, grab Iida from out back before you go. He should be training with Izuku again, he's trying to break in his new engines, this will be a good trial run for him."
Kaminari gave a grumble before standing. "Again?! That's like the third time today!"
"Sorry Kaminari, it's the only thing we can really have you do that none of the other's can do. I could go but we need one of the class representatives here at all times." Momo explained.
"Yeah yeah, I know." Kaminari gave a brief grimace before readjusting the expression on his face and walking outside, he just hoped their illustrious class 'pres' was busy elsewhere. He couldn't deal with the boy at the moment.
Jiro gave a brief smile to her boyfriend. "Thanks Denki, we all appreciate it and I'm sure Mushi does too."
Kaminari barely heard the girl as he slammed the door shut, he'd heard about her little excursion with Midoriya earlier and was slightly miffed. She trusted the greenette with her current predicament more than she did him and while he knew Midoriya was the quirk expert it still left a sour taste in his mouth. He sighed before witnessing Iida doing another round of the area. "Yo Iida, can I get a lift? Should be good practice for your quirk if you don't mind."
Tenya slid to a stop before acknowledging the other. "Of course Kaminari! Hop on and hold tight we'll be utilizing the air!" Iida bowed before turning around and gesturing to his back.
Kaminari 'tched', everywhere he went, it was Midoriya this, Midoriya that. Gah now he was getting frustrated because a classmate was using a second quirk. The electric user then went and grabbed silently onto the back of the other teen, not even hearing the questions the other was asking.
Hell HE had a second quirk, Kaminari really needed to get his shit under control. He's typically not the angry one, but then another memory came to the surface. 'Thank god you weren't the one given Green's quirk.' Kaminari stopped as he dwelled on the thought. Was that the crux of his problem with Midoriya? His quirk? Hell Shinsou could brainwash him until he wasn't a person anymore and somehow he was still more bothered by Midoriya's quirk. He'd found people talking about it on the net, stuff he'd never considered when his strange classmate was introduced to them. Midoriya would make an excellent villain, just like Tsu said all those months ago before the USJ, back then Kaminari defended him but now? What changed? Was it seeing the boy breaking his promise? Having his quirk taken? Maybe it was because he hurt Jiro? 'Fuck! Kaminari shook his head. Stop thinking about shit, you're not the smart one Jammingwhey.
"Kaminari?" Iida asked as they ran across the sky, the wind blowing past his face, he could feel it even underneath his helmet. The other boy had been ignoring him for the past several seconds and it was beginning to worry him.
"Ha, sorry. Got lost in thought. Man it's pretty up here ain't it Iida?" Kaminari deflected.
"Indeed it is Kaminari." Iida paused before continuing his line of thought. "I hope I am not presuming anything but it appears that there is something on your mind. May I inquire as to what the issue seems to be?" Iida would've turned to look at the blonde haired boy but he needed to focus on carrying them across the island. Air Step wasn't an infallible quirk, making a mistake could quite easily be lethal if he wasn't careful, even only 30 feet up like they were.
Kaminari mulled it over before speaking, maybe Iida could figure out why he was so jumbled up on his opinion of Midoriya. "Do you ... trust Midoriya?"
Tenya jolted for a second, quite surprised by the question but regained his bearings quickly. "He has saved both my own and my brother's life many times over. So yes, I would say that I do in fact trust him. In fact I would trust him with my life if necessary, I still owe him two life debts actually." Tenya thought wistfully, refusing to even consider what the first was used for, truly that was a dark day in his memories. "Is this perhaps about Jiro?"
Denki winced because of course the other boy did trust the greenette, Iida even figured out why he was feeling like this. "Mostly, I think. It's just some times in the past he's gone a bit off the deep end. What's stopping him from going crazy and hurting all of us? I just think about the time when Toga infiltrated U.A., or the time he forcibly gave Sato a quirk. I just ... what if he does that to us?"
Iida was silent for quite a bit, it almost made Kaminari think that his question wasn't heard, it wouldn't surprise him with all the wind whipping about but then the armored teen spoke. "I think ... that is a valid concern Kaminari. Izuku has been hurt before, and that pain has made him do some things that have broken our trust. But he's always done the things he's done to try and help us, so no. I trust him completely. That time with Sato? Izuku just wanted to make sure his classmate was stronger in a fight. After what happened with Toga he correctly surmised that she could easily assassinate most if not all of the people in our class. In fact the school principal was almost killed by a Toga clone. So I do believe his fears are somewhat justified, he's just trying to help, even if he may be a tad overzealous at times. What happened to Jiro was an accident, you know that, do you not? I find it unfair to blame him for what occurred, and on top of that Jiro seems to be fine now." Tenya let his truth thoughts on the subject out, hoping that Kaminari would understand.
Denki just grimaced. "Yeah I guess. I just feel like, I feel like he's always hiding stuff from us. Even from Yaomomo, I don't think anyone actually knows what's going on in his head and it scares me a little."
"He probably is, he's deeply embedded in the police and judicial system. Izuku probably cannot tell us a lot of the things he's done. If you remember correctly Izuku's existence was a secret until recently, was it not? I think you should talk with him about your fears, it'll probably help." Iida countered.
The other boy paused for a few seconds. "I ... guess you're right. I'll talk to him later Iida, I can't resolve how I feel unless I do."
"Good and we are her-" Tenya halted his run, skidding across the air. The violent jerking the act caused made him lose his balance and the pair fell to the ground, severely bruising the two of them, it ultimately saved their lives as a massive red laser beam flared above them. The only reason he saw the attack coming was because of the bright glint it caused on his armor. He brushed himself off quickly taking stock of their surroundings, they were in a residential area and should exercise caution.
"WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT IIDA?!" Kaminari screamed as he held onto his bruised arm, it felt almost broken from the near 30 foot drop, his only cushioning was the boy next to him and armor isn't exactly soft.
"I do not know but we should prepare for combat. Try and contact everyone back at the agency, we need to let them know a villain attack is incoming!" Iida quickly reverted to his training, first, determine the threat, second, secure backup, it was very likely not a coincidence that there were villains here while 1-A was, meaning one of them was the target.
"COMMS ARE DOWN IID-" Kaminari felt himself get thrown roughly over the other boy's shoulders, leaving him watching the other's back as they ran. "THANKS FOR THE SAVE! ALSO FUCK FUCK FUCK THERE'S ANOTHER BEAM INCOMING! DODGE DODGE DODGE DUDE!" Iida barely sidestepped as the red laser returned, carving a gash into the floor where they had been seconds ago.
Tenya did not take the news about comms being down well, that meant they were alone on this unless somebody else noticed. He decided to remain on the ground for the time being as it was much safer down here where they had cover. The first objective should be to figure how their opponent is attacking them undetected, it would make dodging the lasers infinitely easier. But the attacks seemed to be coming from completely different random angles, not from one specific location.
"Kaminari, can you dodge these attacks on your own? I might be able to lure the villain out if I return to the air and make myself the target." Iida said as the pair hid behind one of the buildings that was nearby. He also needed to keep collateral damage down so moving back to the air served more than one purpose. As much as he hated the concept of basically putting a bullseye on his back.
"I can probably manage dude but be careful."
"I will! Class 1-A Hero: Tenya Iida is on the case!"
Elsewhere on the Island: Several Minutes earlier.
"That brat's quirk will be mine! I may have been the test dummy for their experiments but once I get the real deal, the league of villains will be cowering in fear at my might!" The voice maniacally laughed before resettling his gaze on the island his prey was on. Then he looked down on the object he'd swiped when the league wasn't looking. "And with this, they will have no chance to stop us!" He then held the object aloft. "Let the operation officially begin ladies and gentlemen."
Notes:
I'm alive folks, sorry my chapters don't come out as often, it's hard to be working on like four projects at once. Hope you all like the chapter.
Also I'm going to try and give most characters a fight scene on Nabu, time to see everyone flex what their training with their new quirks did!
