Life – Morning Chat

A/N: I was thinking about Ally a bit so I thought we'd just take a tiny look into a "Life" morning chat...

"Mama! Wake up!"

Kara groaned and rolled over as a stuffed rabbit named Boogo landed on her head. It was wet and squishy, and she picked it up by one ear to gaze at it disgustedly.

"Ally, please don't tell me you put Boogo in the toilet bowl again."

"Boogo's thirsty," her child replied solemnly.

"Boogo can't drink water from the toilet. It'll make him sick," Alex sighed as she shook her head. "Not all of us are indestructible, y'know" she added in a mutter, making Kara snigger. She pulled back the covers and waited for her super-powered daughter to dive onto them.

Kara let the sodden rabbit drop onto the floor and then blew raspberries on her daughter's cheek, making her giggle as Alex smiled lovingly. "It's too early to be awake. Your Mom and I only got to bed a few hours ago." Alex nodded her agreement. The mission they'd been on had taken far longer than anticipated, but they'd caught some alien slave traders for their trouble, thanks to Supergirl.

The little girl shrugged. "I'm not tired."

"Tell you what," Alex said. "Why don't you go watch TV, while Mama and I wake up and make breakfast."

"But you're already awake, Mom," Ally replied with a frown. "I don't want to watch TV. I'm hungry."

Kara sighed. "The only kid in the world who doesn't want to watch the morning cartoons." She pulled the sheets back again and swung her legs out into the chilly air of the air conditioning. "Alright, I'm up. C'mon, Kiddo. Let's make Mom some coffee."

"Thank you," Alex replied in a pathetically grateful tone. "I love you."

Kara blew her a kiss, picked Ally up and headed out into the kitchen while the director rolled over and put her pillow over her head.

At the kitchen table, Kara sat her daughter into a chair and leaned down on her elbows. "So," she said. "Tonight, Aunt Susan is going to come and take care of you while Mom and I go out for dinner, ok?"

"I'm not coming?" Ally asked with a pout.

"No, Baby Girl, not this time. This is a special night for your Mom and me." The hero stroked her daughter's hair back from her eyes, smiling lovingly. "When you grow up and fall in love, you can celebrate a wedding anniversary too."

"But I love you and Mom," Ally pointed out, a crinkle identical to Kara's creasing her forehead.

"And we love you too, Kiddo," Alex replied as she exited the bedroom and moved to take a seat next to their child. "But like Mama said, this is a special night just for the two of us to go out." She smiled as Kara came around the table to sit in her lap and kiss her cheek. "And I can't wait," she added, looking into the blue eyes she loved so much.

They'd already planned it. Kara was going to fly them to New Orleans for dinner on a riverboat. They would drink champagne and dance under the stars.

"Me neither," Kara replied. She chuckled then and kissed Alex's lips. "I'd better get going. I have a story to finish and I'd like to get off early today if I can."

"I have a meeting with the CEO of Ferris Aircraft this morning," Alex replied. "We're trying to negotiate a contract for some more planes for the DEO."

"Nice fast ones, I hope," the hero grinned. "Maybe something that can even keep up with me?"

"Nothing can keep up with you," Alex pointed out. "Not even Superman."

"Faster than an X-15, Baby, that's me," Kara said with a wink as she headed for the bedroom to get changed.

"You're not wrong," Alex replied with a little shake of her head. "Ok, Baby Girl, what do you want for breakfast?"

"Pancakes and coffee," Ally replied, her eyebrows lifting hopefully.

"How about we stick with pancakes and apple juice," the director replied with a chuckle, shaking her head at her daughter's epic pout. "You're just like your Mama, you know?" She kissed Ally's head. "And I wouldn't change that for a second."
