The creatures froze as they realized the Messenger was in the grasp of the M'arrillian's tendril. It wasn't only that though; the tendril was near his throat, ready to either break his neck or strangle him.
The Codemaster waved at the humans and shouted, "Hurry up!"
While the other hurried away, Tom stayed behind, unable to look away from Alexandre. He clenched his hands. The M'arrillians had also killed Sarah. He took a step forward, but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.
"Didn't you hear me Tom! You have to port out right now!" Codemaster stood behind him, pulling at him to follow.
The sight of the M'arrillian army showing up convinced him that it was time to leave. He turned around and followed Codemaster Crellan while other creatures tried to prevent him from joining the others.
Crellan pulled the boy towards him when an attack came and missed them at the last second.
The Alliance and the rebels had also reached the room, both ready to fight.
Gal'drad flew higher and saw what Milla'iin had in his tendril, The Messenger.
(Another step and he is gone.) The M'arrillian leader told them.
The Coralsmith knew this was all wrong. The man was the Cothica's messenger. They shouldn't be threatening him. Still, with their situation, it was foolish to try and protest.
Alexandre kept struggling. Nothing was working. He knew what was going to happen if he didn't escape. He had to make the hard choice.
Chapter 75: Battle For Chaotic Part 10
Peyton was the first one to port away. The others were lined up behind him.
Cassandra was the last one until Tom showed up. She had her hand on her chest, reminding herself that her son was safe and sound back on Earth. It was just his code that was gone. Still, it was difficult to reassure herself.
Meanwhile, Reggie and Lulu were speaking to each other in low voices.
Tom didn't hear what they were talking about. He was still angry about what he had just witnessed. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the two of them giving something to one another before he lost control of himself. Tom punched the wall, "Those bastards!" He panted after venting his frustrations. Seeing two of his friends die like that was too much. He couldn't calm down. He panted loudly as he turned around.
Crellan approached him, "They will get new sets of code Tom. There is no need to worry about that. They are alive on Earth. You know you live close to each other's."
"Still…" Seeing Sarah die like that had been painful. He didn't know why. It was so much more intense than he had expected. It was the same as Kaz, but different. He ignored it though. This wasn't the time for that at all.
They all heard the creatures. They weren't fighting, they were yelling. What had happened?
Alexandre was swung around like a doll every time a creature tried to do something to get him out of his predicament. The man knew he was nothing but a tool. He needed to wait for the right time to force this stalemate to end, before Milla'iin took his chance and reached the portal. For now, he bided his time. He made up his mind. It was the only way. He repeated that to himself a few times.
(Have you lost all your fighting spirit now?) Milla'iin asked as he looked at them.
He noticed that his soldiers had managed to incapacitate the large robot. His big eye went to the creatures and taunted them, (What are you going to do now?)
The creatures gazed at each other quietly. They were out of options.
The moment the M'arrillian stopped swinging him around, he acted. He took out the knife Peyton had given him and thrust it, but he didn't aim at the creature. "Keep fighting!" Alexandre shouted as the knife moved. Before Milla'iin realized what was happening Alexandre had stabbed his own heart.
Everyone froze as the human did that.
Milla'iin dropped him, (W-what?)
Alexandre used the last of his strength to yell, "Keep fighting!" before twisting the knife and exploding into code.
Once the man was gone, the creatures didn't wait for a second before attacking the M'arrillians.
Imthor was shaking at the sight of the human ending himself like that. Of course, they could give him a new set of code, but this was against any human's instinct. Yet, the man hadn't had the option to even consider something else.
Hotekk smirked under his mask, "He chose death over letting them invade the Earth. Imthor. I'll bring the machines down right now. The robot isn't in fighting condition anymore."
The Codemasters watched the battle.
"This is Crellan…we finished evacuating everyone. Tom just left a few seconds ago. Just before Alexandre decided to do… that."
"Deactivate the portal right now and make sure the M'arrillians want to be after you. We cannot let them be interested in the main portal," Imthor ordered as he pushed aside his thoughts and emotions. They were useless and toxic right now.
"Understood."
"What's the plan now?" Hotekk asked.
"We will make sure they don't go to the portal and we kill them right here, right now. Harsh as it is, we cannot afford to fail. We can't."
Things were getting intense, and with the help of the rebels, things seemed to be going their way. Soon, they also received confirmation that the portable portal had been deactivated and they evacuated the area. They made sure the creatures noticed it.
With luck maybe things would go well.
Everything was going smoothly, until Milla'iin shouted out an order. The Codemasters couldn't hear it, but they immediately saw what the order was.
The alliance and rebels were slowly and surely overpowering the M'arrillians. The creatures of the Deep Ocean were caught in the crossfire.
Still, Milla'iin remained calm. He was simply waiting for his enemies to make a mistake, and soon enough that moment came. Once he spotted his chance Milla'iin ordered, (Go to the portal right now! We will cross it and make sure the creatures cannot follow us there!) He made sure only his soldiers heard his orders and not the creatures.
The reason the M'arrillians got their chance to charge forward as the line blocking them from the portal thinned. They charged quickly, ruthlessly breaking it. There was nobody standing in their way anymore.
(Into the portal! I'll make sure they don't follow us.) Milla'iin said as he relinquished his victory. He made sure the other tribes and traitors heard him.
With nothing stopping them they went through the portal.
"After them!" Theb-Saar ordered with desperation as saw a few of them go through the portal.
They used their best attacks to get as many down as possible as they charged at them.
Within a minute all but Milla'in had passed through the portal. He chuckled as he prepared an attack, (We have won. You won't be able to follow us in the Cothica if the portal is broken.) Wasting no time, he used his attack on the portal. He then turned around and went through it as one of the pieces of the gate was damaged. The blue light of the portal began to lose its light and waver.
The creatures stopped, knowing it was too dangerous to go through it. They watched the broken portal helplessly. They didn't know what to do now. They had failed to stop the M'arrillians from passing through the portal.
Chaor grunted as he punched the ground. Still, he felt something wrong in his chest. He didn't know why, but his instinct told him that something was wrong, "Hey! Codemasters! Where will those bastards show up?"
Imthor didn't reply. He sent the alert to Earth about the upcoming of the M'arrillians. He punched the table in frustration. He punched it again. "Damn it! Damn it!"
Hotekk was shaking at their failures, "Even with the rebels… Milla'iin and his army…they still managed to reach Earth."
"Where are they going to show up on the Cothica Codemasters?" Chaor shouted furiously.
The Codemasters heard it, but had no strength to reply.
"Please. Enlighten us in the matter," Theb-Saar asked calmly, trying to rein in the situation.
Imthor took a deep breath before he replied, "The last location used. It means, the last Chaotic Player who left. Still, the portal isn't as precise as our own."
"Who's the last one who left?" Maxxor asked. He dreaded the answer. He had heard that Kaz and Tom lived in the same city.
Chaor knew that as well. Hearring heard a lot of what those four humans said together.
"MajorTom."
At that moment, they knew that the M'arrillians were near Tom and Kaz. They could be captured at any time and used as hostages.
"We need to do something and fast!" Chaor approached the portal.
Codemaster Crellan and Codemaster Tirasis quickly came and stood in his way. Crellan quickly said, "We don't even know if the portal is stable. If you go in there, you might die."
"High chances are that you will bite the dust," Tirasis warned him.
"Then what do you want us to do?" Chaor yelled.
The creatures were also upset.
Gal'drad knew that Milla'iin would infest and corrupt the Cothica to his desire.
The creatures and the Codemasters wondered what they could do.
Earth
Peyton sat, quietly watching television. The boy shivered as he gazed at his scanner, dropping it on the ground.
"Peyton! Sarah is here!" His mother told him.
"O-okay," he replied. He tried to sound calm, but his voice was shaking a little. The only thing he heard were his friend's footsteps and the sound of the television
Sarah came into his room, "Why did you need to talk to me Peyton? I was-" She noticed something was wrong, "W-what is it Peyton?"
The boy gulped as he tried to grab his scanner, but his hands were shaking, "I… I ported out. Something big happened Sarah."
"O-okay. Tell me." Sarah sat down next to him.
"Okay… Well…" He swiftly summarized everything that happened in Chaotic. When he reached the part where Kaz and her had gotten coded, she paled.
"So…" Sarah checked her scanner. She read her message silently. "I… I never noticed it. So, the M'arrillians are in there causing chaos?"
"And they were near the portal. I'm sure that-" Peyton was interrupted when the television suddenly let out a loud noise.
"This is the Emergency Broadcast. An emergency event has occurred in Summer Vale. No one is allowed to enter the town until further investigation occurs."
Their scanners rang. They opened it and read the message. It was from the Organisation.
Avoid Summer Vale at all costs. The M'arrillians have appeared in Summer Vale.
The two paled at the message.
Tom received the message. He already freaked out after everything he learned as he ported out and this just made everything worse. He was shaking a little as he set his scanner down. That message was too much for him right now. Barely an hour after he ported out, he got this message now. His hometown was being invaded by the M'arrillians right now.
"How can I explain this to mom?" He didn't know what to do. He grabbed it and read it again.
Tom. This is an emergency. You must evacuate Summer Vale as quickly as possible. The M'arrillians are after you and Kaz.
"You think I can tell mom that we are invaded by M'arrillians?" He complained loudly.
He heard his mother yelling. He stood up.
BANG!
A gunshot followed. He heard someone grunting in pain as he quickly rushed outside of his room and climbed down the stairs. He saw his mother pointing a pistol at the entrance. He froze when he saw what was at the entrance of his home.
Cassandra was driving back home much faster than what was allowed. "Come on. Come on. Come on. You better be home Kaz!"
Chaos was reigning over the city. All around she saw people running away from something. She slowed down and saw a few Kha'Rall chasing after some humans. A Chieftain showed up behind them and threw his mind control attack at them. Many were hit and suddenly calmed down.
"Dammit!" She turned onto a short street where there were no M'arrillians.
Fortunately, she managed to reach her house safely. Stopping, she climbed out of her car and rushed inside, hoping that her son was there. Alas, a purple tendril suddenly grabbed her by the waist and pulled her back. She fell to the ground and saw Aval'par ready to take control of her mind.
The Antarctica base was on alert after the creatures showed up on Earth. Alexandre saw everyone running around as he followed his father.
"You got coded?" His father asked in disbelief.
"Yeah. Don't know why I was coded. Maybe the Codemasters will give more detail later," Alexandre replied worriedly.
"With the M'arrillians showing up, you definitely need to stay here and don't go back to your hometown," said his father.
Alexandre gazed to the side. He knew where they had showed up and he was worried for Cassandra and everyone else. Clenching his fists, he desperately wished he could do something.
Kaz hid inside a shop. It was quiet outside. He hadn't heard anything for a while now. A few minutes ago, it was all panic and everyone was yelling or running away. Now all that sound was gone. He knew their minds had been taken over.
He put his hands over his mouth and tried to be quiet. If anybody saw him then it was all over for him.
Kaz didn't know what to do. He didn't know if there was a way to escape the creatures and the humans under their control.
He wondered what he could do. He put his hands down and tried to think of something.
AC: This is the end of this arc and a bit of introduction of the next one.
Act 3: Battle For The Cothica.
Next Chapter: Escape The Mall.
Kaz is caught in the mall. He was sure he was done for when suddenly an ally came to his help. He focused on his escape and returned home to find his mother.
