Chapter 76 - Three Things

The Doctor dressed in a grey, Windsor, three piece suit. Rose had him wear a black, silk tie with white dots on it.

"Why do they call it, 'Windsor'? There isn't a royal family here?" he asked her as he tied his tie.

She laughed, "Probably, so they can charge seven grand for a suit."

He smiled. "Yeah, that's probably why. I made the pockets bigger, so I like it. It's comfortable! I really like this one!"

Rose looked him up and down. "What? No trainers?"

He smiled, "I'm not wearing trainers in this suit. I got some loafers. They are easier to take off and put on. Good for the suit fitting today. And maybe a quick shag later." He told her as he wagged his eyes at her.

She smiled. "I never thought I would see you wearing Stefano Ricci shoes. Damn. You look...wow!"

He blushed as he looked at her. He held her hands. "Sweetheart. I want to tell you how very, very proud I am of you. There just aren't the words that I need to do it proper."

She smiled as she held him around his neck. He put his hands on her hips. He kissed her quickly on the lips. "You're going to call me an angel, next."

He laughed, "No, I'll never insult you like that. Angels are terrifying creatures."

She smiled at him. "I'm sure there is more to that."

He kissed her on her forehead. "Go give your speech this afternoon. Remember, you know more about this than anyone else on this planet. They are hungry to hear what you have to say. They will probably ask some direct questions."

"What if I don't know the answer? That's probably the thing I'm the most scared of." Rose told him.

He smiled. "Easy. Do what Einstein did. Answer their question with another question. Brilliant deflecting technique! One I don't use enough."

Rose looked impressed. "That's a thought. That's a great idea!"

"I'll try to keep my shields down as much as I can today, so you know I'm with you. If you need me at any point...just tell me. I'll pop right to you!"

"How is Genie? Still happy?" she asked.

He seemed to think about something. "She's... sleeping. That's odd. She was really happy before, but she's sleeping now."

"Ah, probably wore herself out. She's not hurt is she?"

He shook his head. "No. It's a natural sleep. Huh. I wonder what that's about?"

"I'll call and check on her. I'll let you know so you won't worry." Rose told him.

"Thank you." he said.

"Oh! Almost forgot! Put on your leg brace." Rose told him.

He shook his head. "Nah. I'm going to see how long I can get away with it with this mutant. I have a plan!"

"A plan?" Rose asked.

He smiled. "Oh yes! A simple plan!" He rubbed her back. "I'm sure there are other things I want to say, and will wish I told you."

Rose rolled her eyes at him. "Not a big deal. It's just the first of several of these speaking engagements."

"What? How many more? Why haven't you said anything?" he asked he put his hands on his hips.

She tossed her hands up at him. "Hell, I only found out about it this morning myself. Michelle has scheduled me a tour! The hell!"

The Doctor beamed in pride. "A tour. Look at you. Rose Tyler. Educator of the Earth. Rose Smith. Nah, still don't like it."

Rose smiled at him. "I need three things from you and then you can go."

He rubbed his hands together and bit his lip. "Yes, ma'am. What do you need?"

"First. Promise you will check in on our daughter when she wakes up. I miss her. She's coming home tonight isn't she?"

He smiled and held her hands, "Sure. I'll bring her home. I miss her, too. I think Jack and Jake have a party planned. We might be back to a flat full of people again."

Rose smiled, "Perfect. Second, kiss me."

He smiled, "Oh, it's my pleasure!" He cupped her face and leaned down and kissed her.

'You've been in that spearmint toothpaste, haven't you?' Rose asked him.

'It's my favorite. I don't know how you figured that out.' he told her.

'I'm trying to keep my hands out of your hair so I don't mess it up for you.'

He moaned, 'Promise me you'll mess it up proper later. Then I'll forgive you.'

She smiled at him. He laughed and kissed her on the end of the nose.

He rubbed his face. "Woo! Wow! Ummm... okay. Third thing."

She took his hand. "I want Jack and Jake to see you in your suit."

He looked surprised, "Really? Why?"

She looked him in the eyes. "Because you are so dapper. So handsome. I want them to be jealous of what I have."

He chuckled and straightened his tie. "Oh, I'm happy to help with that! Lead me to them! I'm going to warn you, I'm going to hold my breath so I don't sneeze. Damn, that Jack."

"How long can you hold your breath?" Rose asked him.

"A really long time. Hours. Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Go show me off." he smiled at her.

She took his hand and they walked down the hall. Jake, Jack, Sam, Lewis and Shakes were all eating.

"Gentlemen!" the Doctor greeted them all.

Jack looked back at the Doctor. He stopped eating and stood up. "My God! Wow! How much was that suit?"

Rose smiled as she held his hand.

"He's about to leave. I asked him to let you lot see it." Rose told them.

Jake wiped his mouth. "Looks great!"

"Thanks." the Doctor said. He pointed at Jake and demanded, "Eye exam, then come see me."

Jake rolled his eyes and grumbled, "Fuck. Okay, Director Sinatra."

Sam stood up and put his plate in the sink. "I'm ready to go, Doctor. Shakes and Lewis are with Rose today."

He turned and looked at all of them. "Like we all talked about. Got it?"

All of them nodded.

Jack winked at him. "Not to worry!"

The Doctor turned and kissed Rose again.

'Be careful. I'll see you, soon. I love you.' he told her in her head.

She smiled, "I know you do. Don't worry about me."

Jack rolled his eyes. "Newlyweds. Gross!"
