Chapter 77 – Compromise

2 weeks had passed since the birthday of Luke and Leia. The Naberries stayed for a week. Leia showed them the Senate while Luke showed them the Jedi Temple.

It was great to have their grandparents around. After a week they said their goodbyes, with the promise that soon they will visit them in Naboo. Luke loved the planet, not only because his family was from there but also it was the planet where his son born.

At 3 months old, he was way more active through the day and slept a lot during the night. The first time he slept all night, Luke and Ines got so scared that they kept going to the bedroom to check if he was okay.

He also loved to hold his stuffed X-Wing and focus a lot on objects, besides he smiled a lot and have long conversations with himself with also melt Luke and Ines heart.

He also started to rise his torso when he was on his belly, using his arms which made Luke called Ines in a hurry when he did that the other day for the first time. His boy was in fact getting big.

A few days ago, Luke had to go the Senate to give the latest information about the Temple and to give a date of the opening, which he already decided it would be in 4 months. He was waiting for the Freedom Day celebration in two months, where the galaxy would celebrate the fall of the Empire, a day it would be celebrated every year.

At the moment Luke and Ines were in the Jedi Temple, in the combat room, having a little training while their baby boy was in the floating crib, taking one of his afternoons nap.

Ines crossed her Escrima sticks blocking the attack from the Bamboo staff from Luke.

Swinging the sticks, she attacked, being block my Luke, while she tried to hit below trying to swing the staff away, giving Luke time to swing back and hit her on the back with his staff, making Ines wince and looked at him with not a so happy look, while Luke smiled at his wife.

"Don't tell me I'm getting better on your expertise, sweetheart" he told her.

Facing him, she walked towards him, twirling the sticks. She attacked from the left, she started to attack in every direction, making Luke block the sticks as fast as he could. Getting the opportunity where Luke block an attack above his head, she hit him on the side with the sticks and with a quick move she made the staff flew from his hands and before he could grabbed the Escrima sticks preventing an attack, she wrapped her right arm around his neck, and pressing her back on his chest, she raised herself up and wrapping her legs on his waist, she leaned forward, making them both do a forward somersault, ending up with Luke laying on the floor with Ines standing up, looking down at him.

"You were saying?" she asked while they both were breathing heavily.

"That was a cheap move Skywalker" he said looking up at her.

"You still have much to learn Skywalker" she smiled at him.

She was about to step aside but Luke put his right leg between hers and hooking them, he made Ines lost her balance and fell on the floor, and with a quick move, he saddle on top of her, grabbing her wrists and holding them above her head.

"Hey that is not fair" she said at him

"I learned with the best" he smiled at her and leaning down he took her lips in his, as they started to make out a little, being interrupted by a sudden cry from the floating crib.

Pulling apart Luke sighed

"I swear this kid can know when I'm kissing you" he laughed standing up and pulling her up too. Heading to the crib, she saw their Ben pouting

"What is it sweetie?" she asked him picking him up and holding him closer to her chin, while supporting his head. "You are not hungry or dirty"

"I think he just wanted to be picked, which made me think of something babe" he said looking at Ines who knew what he was about to say.

"Luke"

"Ines, my love you know that when the Academy opens, you and I will start to teach the kids. We will be busy. We need to get someone to watch of over him. Maybe it is time we get a nanny to take care of him" he told her, knowing she would not like that idea.

Ines shook her head

"Forget it. I don't want anyone to be near of our son, especially knowing that he is our son. Luke you know what Ben told us. Besides you know she is out there. So forget it. Our son will be here with us."

Luke sighed

"Ines, what if he cries in the middle of the a lesson. Will you stop the lesson?"

"Of course"

"Babe you can't do that. We need someone to watch over him. I'm sorry"

"Then I will not teach in the Temple. Find someone else but I will not allow any stranger being near our baby" she said and left the room, heading to the kitchen of the temple, leaving Luke alone, putting the sticks and staff in their support.

R2 beeped making Luke looked at him.

"I don't know how to solve this problem R2" he told the droid, making him beeped.

Looking at his friend a smile appeared

"My dear friend, you just gave me an idea" and leaving the room he head himself towards the kitchen where he saw Ines sitting by the kitchen table, holding Ben up, smiling when he saw his little boy supporting himself on his little legs, showing he was getting stronger.

Sitting next to her, he ran his left hand on Ben's brown hair, just like his mother

"Can we talk?" he asked Ines

"Not if you continue with the idea of a nanny" she told him

"How about we make a compromise?"

Ines looked at him

"What do you mean?"

"Our baby can be here with us in the Temple but he needs someone to watch over him. If it is someone we know and trust, will you reconsider the nanny stuff?"

"Someone we know? Like who?" she asked

"Well not someone, more like something"

Ines frown, she was not understanding what Luke was saying,

"Something?"

"He is an old friend that we can trust. Besides he will be here with us, while we are teaching, that friend can watch of our little treasure"

Ines looked at him

"3PO?"

Luke smiled and nod.

"What do you say? You get what you want, meaning our baby will be here under our wings but at the same time I get what I want, having someone to watch over him. And I agree with you, I don't think I would be relax having a stranger looking over our Ben, so how about someone we know for so long"

Smiling Ines nod

"Okay I agree"

Luke smiled and kissed her on the lips and then kissed the chubby cheeks of his boy making him smile at his father. In a way he agree with Ines, he didn't feel comfortable having a person he didn't know taking care of his son, knowing that not only there were followers of the Empire out there and specially that Shira was still out there. He knew that sooner or later she would attack again.

Lower Levels:

It was already dark in Coruscant, but in those areas it was even darker, because the sun light never reached there. A dark figure was standing for hours in the dark, near The Jurikae Bar, waiting, when it finally saw what it want.

Seeing the guy leaving the bar, the figure walked towards it and grabbing his arm, it made him turn and once the young man looked at the figure he gasped.

"You" he said

"Hello again. I need your services again and this time, I will not allow any failures" the female voice said to him, making him shaking in fear.

"What do you want from me?"

"I want you to bring me a baby boy" the woman said with an evil smile.

A/N: That maneuver that Ines made on Luke was inspired on one scene of Cobra Kai season 1 between Sam and Miguel, when Miguel is trying to show some movements but Sam does that maneuver at him instead.

So, Luke and Ines decided to have 3PO to take care of Ben and Luke's fears were right. Shira is back. What do you think it will happen? Will the guy will attack again?
