"What? What do you mean I can find it?" I asked.
"Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about," Annabeth said, "Your curse, it has more to it than you think."
"Like what?" Nico asked.
"Well, the book, it explains what all you can do and how to harness that power. But it is very dangerous, not to you personally, but to the people around you. You will bring even more attention to yourself, from the gods and monsters."
I started Annabeth in the eyes, which like usual were her normal stormy gray. "What?"
We sat there in silence until I broke it with one of the worst questions in demigod history, "you mean to tell me I will attract more monsters then I already do?"
"If you harness all of your power, yeah," Annabeth said in a saddening way.
I stared off into the distance. I already cause so much trouble, I can't even imagine having more monsters coming after me. I don't know how I'm going to protect everyone.
I was broken out of my thoughts by someone walking past us, something about him just felt right.
I got up and started walking after him, I could hear Nico and Annabeth calling me but I had to keep up with this man.
"Trish!" Nico yelled. I ignored him and kept walking.
I was jerked back by Annabeth's firm hand. "Trish, what are you doing?"
"Him," I said pointing at the man, "that's the one."
Annabeth's eyes widened, I saw her glance at my eyes and slightly shiver but I must have been seeing things. "H-how did you know?" She asked.
"I don't know, I just did," I shrugged.
Me, Nico, and Annabeth started running down the street after the man. We were in such a rush we almost ran into him when he stopped.
"Sir?" I called, Annabeth gripped my arm as if to say not to say anything but I pulled out of her grasp, "um, can we talk to you?"
"Sure!" He gleamed, it was kind of creepy how happy he was but I smiled back just as big.
We ended up sitting down in a small cafe and talked for what seemed like hours. We explained what we were doing here and how Khione was kidnapped.
"Hmm, interesting," he mumbled, "nope, don't know anything about that."
"You're lying," I stated.
"Surely I am not," he insisted.
"Yes you are, it's in your eyes, I grew up with a little brother, I know when people are lying to me," I growled.
"Woah there, no reason to get mad," the man insisted.
"Trust me," Nico said, playing with something that was sat on the table, "you'll know when she's mad."
Annabeth looked him in the eyes, "and you don't want her to get mad."
I turned back to the man. "What is your name?" I asked.
"None of your business girl," he hissed.
"You're Nereus, aren't you?" I said.
"Shhh," he gushed, "don't say that name!" He looked around nervously.
"How did you know," he said squinting his eyes and whispering.
"Not sure, just did. Now, are you going to tell us where Khione is or not?"
"I can't."
"Yes you can," I demanded.
"Surely not," Nereus said, turning his head slightly to the left.
"Stop lying, I'm not in a very good mood, and it will be bad for all of us if I get mad."
"What are you going to do? Throw a hissy fit?" Nereus tormented.
I slammed my hand into the table and everything became dark, Nereus turned pale along with everyone else. "Tell me!" I yelled in a deep voice.
"The Balkan Mountains!" Nereus squealed.
I took a deep breath and the darkness went away, surprisingly without any difficulties. "Thank you," I nodded and got up.
With Nico Annabeth and Coral following close behind, I started walking down the road to see how I can get to the mountains.
Thanks for reading! I'm not quite sure how long this chapter is because I'm typing it on my iPod but I hope it's long enough for your liking.
