Today Jamie and Eddie had a court hearing. Frank was going to watch the kids for them. He was to get there around 8am, Eddie made extra for breakfast so he could eat too.

"Eddie we should go as soon as we can, I have a feeling traffic is gonna be a bitch" Jamie told her coming out of the bedroom dressed in his suit.

"Yeah yeah, I know. Huh." She was trying to clean up the kitchen quickly.

"Everything okay?" He questioned.

"Yeah..." she lied.

"Mommy more." Alaina told her from the table

"You seem stressed." He pointed out.

"I am." She said as she put more eggs and sausage on Alaina's plate.

"About what? The trial?" Jamie guessed.

"Well yeah!" She said and went back to cleaning up the kitchen.

"Ryan! No!" Eddie shouted seeing him attempting to climb on top of Alaina's doll house. Jamie went over and moved him to play with something else beings he didn't listen.

"Eddie we've been on trial before..." Jamie said bringing the conversation they were having back up.

"Yeah but this one just, I don't know. I got a bad feeling. And, the prosecutor we're up against is good Jamie!" She said shaking her head in disbelief they were in this predicament.

"Babe..." Jamie didn't like seeing her so worked up like this. He stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her stomach, putting his head beside hers.

"I got this. Just trust me." He said wanting her to remember his Harvard law degree.

"I know." She told him, he kissed her cheek and let go of her.

"Go finish getting ready." He told her.

"All done!" Alaina hollered, wanting to get down and play. Eddie went to the bedroom listening to him.

"All done?! Okay woah woah wait Lain, we gotta wipe your hands." Jamie wet a paper towel and took it to her face and hands.

Knock knock*

"Hey dad, thanks for doing this. Eddie made breakfast and there's coffee yet. Help yourself." Jamie said letting him in.

"Sounds great. Someone enjoyed the ketchup." He said seeing Lainey's mess.

"Oh yeah...say almost every morning..." Jamie said with a chuckle.

"And where's the big guy?" He said and walked to the living area to find Ryan.

"Oh getting into the usual trouble." Jamie said seeing he was back at climbing on Lainey's doll house. When Jamie let Alaina down to go play she ran off toward Ryan.

"No!!! Mine!" She said and pushed him, of course he started crying.

"Hey hey." Frank intervened, Eddie came around the corner quickly to see what happened after hearing the fall and cry to follow.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Alaina..." Jamie told her as he made his way over. Frank had picked up Ryan so he'd stop.

"Timeout c'mon." Jamie took her hand and she shyly just went with him to the little stool.

"We don't push. 2 minutes." Jamie said and walked away.

"If she gives you anymore problems..." he told Frank, insinuating to do timeout, he understood.

A couple minutes later, both kids were happy and playing, Eddie was going over a couple things with Frank and Jamie was getting his shoes on and tying his tie again.

"Hopefully they're good for you." Eddie said when she was done and ready to go.

"Don't worry about it. Just go win that trial." He said looking at Jamie, he nodded knowing it was a big deal.

"Yeah well...pray for us." Eddie said to him and then said goodbye to the kids.

"Be good okay? Bye." Jamie said and blew Lainey a kiss and waved. Her eyes grew and she ran toward him.

"Noo!" She cried.

Jamie knelt down when he realized how upset Alaina was. She hung her head down, looking at the ground.

"Sweetie daddy has to go, I'm sorry you're upset..." he said sincerely, and moved her hair out of her face. She was crying hard, Jamie looked over at Eddie for help. She just made a pouty face, it was so sad to see his heart broke when she did this.

"Lainey...grandpas excited to play with you..." Eddie said as she came over.

"Yeah...why don't you show him your doll house?" Jamie persuaded.

"You play wit me" she cried. Jamie frowned and gave her a hug.

"I'll see you in a couple hours honey, I promise" he told her. He let go of her and planned on just leaving, it was better that way. Once she saw him and Eddie head for the door she lost it even more. Frank tried to distract her and talk to her so she'd stop as they shut the door behind him. Jamie couldn't help but stop and hear the tears through the door.

"She's never been that upset for me to leave." He acknowledged.

"I know. She's fine though." Eddie said to make him feel better. She grabbed his hand and they left their building.

When Jamie and Eddie got to the court room Eddies nerves ramped up again. Jamie could tell by the way she clenched her jaw.

"Could we get 2 glasses of water please." Jamie asked the security guard standing beside their table.

When he came back with the water they sat down and the judge entered the room.

"Jamie I feel sick." Eddie said under her breath.

"Stop. I got this. I got you. I got us" He told her with confidence, quietly. She closed her eyes and took a breath as the trial began.

The trial was over, they got their things together and exited through the double doors.

"Congratulations." Erins voice called out from behind. They both turned around.

"Hey, thanks. What are you doing here?" Jamie asked, she glanced at her watch.

"I got a case in 10, couldn't help but sit in on that one though, that was intense." Erin said.

"Yeah!" Eddie shook her head glad it was over.

"Oh I had it in the bag 3 minutes in." Jamie said blowing it off.

"Yeah, you're lucky he has a law degree. No way 2 regular beat cops could've won that one." Erin said.

"Oh I know! I was freaking out." Eddie said.

"I bet. Well I'll see you guys Sunday. Congratulations again." Erin said and left to go her way. Jamie put his arm around Eddie and they headed home.

When they got home Frank was on the couch reading a book to the kids as they both sat in his lap. When Alaina saw them she got down and ran over to greet them both immediately.

"Hey, we weren't done our book." Frank said joking.

"Aw you left grandpa hangin'!?" Eddie said laughing when she got a hug from her.

"How'd it go?" Frank asked getting up.

"We won." Jamie said picking up Ryan to hold.

"Good! You feel better?" He asked Eddie, putting his hand on her back.

"Oh yeah. It was a little nerve racking but Jamie got it done." She told him.

"That's my boy." He said and hit him in the back.

"How were they?" Eddie asked changing the subject.

"Just fine! Alaina cried a little after you left, but we played dollhouse then and it was fun." He said.

"Daddy pay?" Lainey grabbed his hand and tried to pull him to the living room.

"Well good. She usually doesn't get that upset." Jamie said.

"She has, just not recently." Eddie corrected him.

"Daddy!" Alaina demanded.

"Okay hold on, be patient okay?" Jamie told her. She let go and went off herself.

"Well I'll let you guys go, see you Sunday. Bye bye." Frank said and waved to Ryan. He waved back and then Alaina came over for a hug.

They thanked Frank again and shut the door behind him. Time to relax and spend time together as a family for once. Eddie was exhausted from being so worked up for days about the trial, they all took a nap together in their big bed after lunch.
