Team RWBY's Commentary of The Purge (Part 2 - Final)

"They do eventually catch the guy, but something convinces them not to hand him over. And I use the word something because I literally have no idea what it is that convinces them not to do it! The daughter says nothing will be the same; Hell! Even the guy offers to hand himself over to end all the trouble...", Ruby starts off the second part of The Purge review, "...and yet for some reason, they decide to renege! I'm not saying that what they're doing isn't the right thing, I'm just saying their explanation of how they came to that conclusion is about as solid as 'Because it works'! He's like saying, 'Logic? Blegh! It just works.'"

Yang then described, "The teens are done waiting and decide it's time to start breaking in.", as they watch another scene of Henry's scary yet somewhat hilarious overacting, "We know it's hard to tell if he's scary or funny, but could this guy get his own reality show? Like Survive A Conversation Without Squirting Milk Through your Nose? Or maybe! A Saturday morning show! A Saturday morning show where Henry reads to children! Somebody could make that happen someday, but it's still plausible."

"So they break down the high-tech security system...which was amazingly easy to do... How the fuck do these guys stay in business? ...And the teens come in for the search.", summarized Blake as the four see during the search scene when one of the purgers skip down the hallway, "It's scary because they're taking something dark and evil and making it innocent and fun. We had to run that in slow-mo just to make sure it wasn't so subtle."

Weiss imitates as one of the purgers named Cooper looks around the bedroom as Mary was hiding underneath the bed just when the former then was called to leave the bedroom, "Wow, I wonder if the purgers were like, 'Cooper? Did you check under the bed? That would be the most obvious hiding spot.', and he'd say, 'Nah! I gotta find more security cameras to skip in front of.'", whilst the following part showed James fighting off the purgers with a machine gun, "Yeah. Even though the Purge has been going on for several years apparently, nobody ever thought to maybe put on body armor during it!"

"But hey! What's the point? The Purge just works!", the leader of team RWBY assumed whilst the next snippet of the movie had a purger brust through a window and tackled James, trying to shoot him as he barely missed him with his shots when James dodged it; "Whoa, that purger's like, 'Yay! I suck!'", and watched when James overttakes the purger by axeing and then shooting him dead, "And also, he must be like, 'That's so they don't come back as zombies.'"

The elder sister of Ruby Rose then said, "But just when he thinks he's gotten out okay, Henry shows up once again.", spectating another scene where Henry confronting a mortally wounded James, "We know we may think he hasn't let us down whether or not he is scary or funny, but let's see how many traditional movie psychopath cliches we can fit into 30 seconds!"

"For instance? First, he is a comforting, sadistic killer...the whimpering lip over the beauty of his actions...the thankful gratitude for giving him such an experience...a loving sympathetic kiss on the forehead...and top it all off with the straightening of his suit and hair, proving his look is far more important than the life of another.", compiles the Faunus.

The heiress exclaimed, "That's FIVE! Five psychotic movie cliches in under 30 seconds!", groaning in irritation, "Please tell me whether or not Henry dies by the end-", just as they saw Henry get shot to death by one of the purgers.

"YEAH!", team RWBY cheered, "There we go! That sure showed him!"

The Schnee girl then realized, "...But did they just killed the only enjoyable character in the film? He was filled with more ham than Ponyo...", as she started feeling a little bad and then pondering, "Besides that, question is, now who's gonna drill our incredibly forced message into the ground?", just when they saw the family's neighbors Grace, her husband and the married couple arrive in the house, "Oh great! The characters who only existed so that you would know who they are are in the climax. Again, what I said earlier, like a quilt!", with the next excerpt having Grace and the others taking the family members but James, who has died from his wounds, as Grace was talking to them in a calm tone about killing them, James' death, and their opportunity to cleanse themselves of their hatred.

"Yup! Because that's how killers talk, everybody! It's like saying, 'I'm sorry I gotta kill you, but the cleansing of my mortal coil has to be addressed if I am to be ethically absolved.', and then pulling the trigger! It seems overly poetic to me.", the red-black-haired huntress says, also mocking as Grace said to Mary of how she was jealous of them, their wealth and perfection, "Could she also add, 'That and your cookies are awful! Now we're going to kill you AND both of your daughters!' Hey, I love cookies myself, so shut the fuck up, Grace!"

The blonde huntress perceives as she and the other three see Grace, her husband and her fellow neighbors gather in a circle and chanted about the new Founding Fathers cryptically, "So this world is like BioShock Infinite? Except with none of the cool stuff and double the hypocrisy? I know it's as cryptic as the ending of that game, but The Purge has quite the same energy as that.", then synopsizing, "But the homeless man comes in to save the day!", with Dwayne pointing his gun at the unarmed neighbors after punching one of them and shooting another one down, as Grace tries to coerce Mary to kill her but she refuses, all the while the neighbor's acting didn't have emotion in it, "I wonder if Grace should've said, 'The movie's almost over and Henry was the most entertaining thing anyway.'"

"So as you heard, she forces everybody to sit politely and patiently until the Purge is over.", imagined the black-haired huntress and then outlining, with the film's climax showing Mary arranging themselves to wait in peace until the night was over, but as they waited, Mary notices Grace almost grab the shotgun Dwayne had before Mary snatches it and hits Grace's face at the end of it, "BITCH! A LANNISTER ALWAYS PAYS HER DEBTS!", with the Faunus making a Game of Thrones reference by this.

The white-haired huntress remarked when Mary told off Grace that there would be no more killing tonight and beratingly asked if it was that hard to understand, "The next time I see you do that, you're gonna be faceplanted like what Cliff Booth did!", before the movie had the people hearing the sirens, signalling the end of the Purge night just as Mary simply tells them to get the hell out of their house, with the heiress greeting, "See you at the neighborhood barbecue!"

"So they all go home and life goes on as...normal?", questioned Ruby in the film's conclusion, the ending having the mother and the children standing outside and looking at the changed world whilst broadcasts reported that it was over yet it was said to be the most successful Purge yet, "But wait a minute! It wasn't successful! Was it?"; as the film ended, Ruby couldn't help but sing to America the Beautiful much to Yang, Blake and Weiss' laughter, "From sea to shining...", before slamming her fist on the floor in irritation, "SHUT THE FUCK UP! This is one of the most pretentious ideas I've ever seen in my entire life! I mean, who would actually be inspired by such a ludicrous idea?"

The shoji door to RWBY's washitsu guest room opened again, as Natsume and Ohana arrived once again.

"Guys.", team RWBY presumed.

Natsume smiled, "Hey, the two of us finished watching The Water Diviner, and we wanted to check up how ya doin' thus far. Anything happened?"

"Just in time. We just finished up the movie, and by the gods, it's so overambitious.", Ruby happily said and then sighed.

Ohana asked, "So, you think The Purge was worth getting a franchise out of it?"

"So-so, maybe not.", veried Yang.

Blake and Weiss said, "It wasn't up to our expectations."

"The Purge wasn't as good.", verdicted Ruby.

Just then, Ruby's Scroll rang once again as the leader of team RWBY pulls out her device and answers the call, seeing Pyrrha, Nora, Penny and Salem on the video chat again.

"Hey, guys.", team RWBY said.

Pyrrha, Nora and Penny said happily, "Hi, girls!", the latter adding, "Salutations!"

Natsume asked them with her Aussie slang, "Who's that sheila?", about Salem as she and Ohana uneased.

"That's Salem. She's someone we know, and we're discerned that you may think she looks creepy. Beauty can be founded within for the most part, despite appearances. You realize that, right?", Yang answers Natsume's question.

The ginger-haired Japanese-Australian girl replies, "Oh, yes. I understand."

"We apologize, Salem. Our friend here is from Australian, so she has a fluent figure of speech on and off.", excuses Blake.

Salem replied, "No hard feelings."

"Anyways, we finished watching The Purge, so we're about to do our overall thoughts of it.", Weiss reminded.

Pyrrha espied, "Is that so? We're almost finished watching The Purge too. We love to hear your thoughts if it's alright. After all, we're seeing you again in the morning."

"For our closing thoughts, well...", Ruby states.

That was when team RWBY gave their overall opinion of the film;

Ruby says in conclusion, "The point of this movie is to prove one thing, that the Purge is bad. Well, since we already know that and not in a million years we would let something like this happen, it's a pretty fucking pointless message."

"Maybe if it was a dark comedy, an exploitation film, or balls-to-the-wall satire, but it explains nothing about how this idea could work except that... it works! Most of it is just showing people sneaking around the house like it's trying to be a gritty real life situation.", prefers Yang.

Blake noted, "But since we know the situation is bullshit, there's no way to identify with it. Probably the only bit of fun is that Henry character. He at least does something totally bat-shit crazy and memorable. But for everything else, it's just a pretentious, wannabe protest film that has nothing to protest."

"It's like that kid who wants attention in your writing class, so he writes what he thinks is groundbreaking commentary when really its just someone complaining about how there's nothing to complain about. It's a stupid, ridiculous mess.", finished Weiss.

Natsume agrees with team RWBY, "All of that is true about The Purge. And thus we've gotten a few sequels, a prequel and even a TV show!"

"I think it's best to call it quits for The Purge tonight.", simply told Ruby, "We mean, it's not like Pinky and the Brain are splitting up or anything."

Suddenly, Natsume and Ohana were shocked to hear this, "Wait... Pinky and the Brain are splitting up?"

"Well...we were thinking about that the entire time we were reviewing The Purge. But at first, we think they did which was traumatizing, but-", Yang hesitates and explained.

Natsume suddenly started crying, "No... No, it can't be. I liked them when I was younger..."

"I'm not a big fan of Animaniacs or Pinky and the Brain, but I'm very sorry to hear it.", discouraged Ohana saddenly.

Blake calmed them down, "But now, they're not splitting up. We've explained them in our Lady in the Water and The King and I reviews we did some time ago."

"Really?", sobbed Natsume and Ohana.

Weiss ensures, "They're making a new revival of the Animaniacs, so rest assured, Pinky and the Brain will be coming back."

"That's a relief... I love that.", the ginger-haired girl encouraged.

Ruby thought, "We didn't even notice you were familiar with Animaniacs or Pinky and the Brain."

"I remembered seeing a few episodes of those re-runs back in the day from Australia.", the Japanese-Aussie told.

Ohana said, "Same. Celebrities breaking up are always the worst part in Hollywood."

"Yeah.", Yang acknowledges, "Anywho, how was The Purge, girls?", to Pyrrha, Nora, Penny and Salem.

Pyrrha rated, "It was alright. Not great, but alright."

"A bit controversial here, a bit violent there, but okay.", Penny assessed.

Nora evaluated, "I believe it's one of those films about fearmongering. They made it seem real."

"Protest propaganda.", Salem compressed, "It was decent."

Blake rejoined, "At least you guys think it was great. To us, it was kinda bad."

"Not the worst, but still bad.", adjudicated Weiss.

Pyrrha then told, "With that said, we can't wait for you to return. Me and the others missed you guys."

"Baiken, her friends and Ibuki even decided to come with us though. We guarantee you're going to like them too.", Ruby ensures.

Salem said wisely, "I'll be already gone when you come back. This watch party your friends have held tonight was at least entertaining if not wholesome."

"I suppose so. It's good if you enjoyed it, even when having company along the way.", fondingly says Yang.

Nora nods, "It's always great to have company."

"Friends, lovers, acquaintances...", Blake said.

Weiss finished Blake's sentence, "...they're always there to help us all."

"So anyways, good night, team RWBY. And remember, salutations!", Penny wished goodbye.

Team RWBY greeted back, "Salutations, girls.", as they ended the video chat on Ruby's Scroll.

"Glad they had fun.", Natsume compassionately tells Team RWBY afterwards, yawning, "Better go back now. We better go get some sleep so we can leave in the morning."

Ohana yawned, "Getting sleepy already..."

"Good night, guys.", Ruby said to Natsume and Ohana as the two left and closed the shoji door on their way back; she then turned to her sister Yang and their teammates Blake and Weiss, "Now that that's over with, looks like we gotta go back to sleep."

Yang, Blake and Weiss smiled, "Right.", as the three and Ruby proceeded to go back to sleep.

There were no nightmares that Ruby had throughout the rest of the night, now that Ruby had a good positive dream which overshadowed the negative dream from earlier in the night...

EDO ISLAND
9AM

The next morning, Team RWBY (who were currently wearing their usual huntress outfits from back home in Beacon) and their friends Athena Cykes, Trucy Wright, Maka Albarn, Tsubaki Nakatsukasa, Blair, Sinon, Leafa, Alice Zuberg, Asuna Yuuki, Ty Lee, Mai, Faye Valentine, Fuu Kasami, Iki Hiyori, Akane Tsunemori, Shion Karanomori, Yayoi Kunizaki, Rina Takizaki, Maki Oze, Tamaki Kotatsu, Iris, Miria Harvent, Nice Holystone, Jacuzzi Splot, Rachel, Celty Sturluson, Mika Harima, Anri Sonohara, Ann Takamaki, Futaba Sakura, Ohana Matsumae, Natsume, and their new friends Baiken, Inori Yuzuriha, May, Kuradoberi Jam, Millia Rage and Ibuki, trekked to the same area that the hovercraft shuttle dropped them off at.

"It was wonderful for you to come with us to Remnant, Baiken.", Ruby gratefully thanked, "Since you've showed us around the majestic Edo Island, now it's our turn to return the favor."

Baiken said in her serious demeanor, "I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit here. And seeing how you also make great friends like May, Jam, Millia and Inori, allow me to join you girls for the remainder of your social event, and possibly future adventures you girls will endeavor."

"Same with me.", Ibuki counts herself in.

Inori smiled, "Us too.", counting herself, May, Jam and Millia.

"Even the authencity of the Edo period as well as the lifestyle here is amazing!", Athena loved.

Maka chuckled, "We've tried the cuisine, we've explored, we've even got some souvenirs for back home."

"Not to mention the kimonos here.", Yang told, "They were so good."

Sinon sighs in relaxation, "We even saw majestic sights, had romantic nights, and it was all right."

"And now our perspectives are taken to new heights.", added Leafa happily.

Alice and Asuna giggle, "Your rhyming is perfect. Closely expresses our thoughts coming to Edo Island."

"It really took me back, you know? I'm actually going to miss this place, but the home we have right now is all good for me.", Fuu pleasantly says to everyone, thus also satisfying Faye and Iki as the trio hugged.

Akane Tsunemori mentions, "Our experience was like we travelled back through time, although there were still modern elements to it which were perfectly fantastic. Any kind of the noodles were my favorite food as always, particularly the ones in Jam's restaurant."

"Thanks for acknowledging!", giggled Kuradoberi.

The brown-haired inspector replies, "Don't mention it. The mushrooms were my least favorite, but the noodles were mostly delicious."

"The kiserus here were as good as normal cigarettes. The makeshift elements here on this island were incredible. Believing your instincts makes everything better.", Shion Karanomori includes, smoking a kiseru.

Yayoi Kunizuka states her own opinion, "I loved it. Rina's favorite part here was the traditional Edo period music with a mix of hip-hop. I know me and Rina had rocky times in the past, she is my sense of inspiration."

"The three of us enjoyed it!", Maki, Tamaki and Iris said, the former saying, "The food here was great, especially the squid here. Tamaki liked the fish while Iris enjoyed the sushi assortment. Besides that, it was beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of it."

Miria, Mika and Celty shared their thoughts, "All was great! Hope we visit here again in the future."

"It was indeed an experience trying out to be a ninja.", Rachel said, who was now wearing her casual coverall outfit.

Anri Sonohara cuts in, "Don't forget the samurai here too."

"It was a good one.", Natsume rated in her Australian accent, giving a thumbs-up with her prosthetic arm.

Ann and Ohana reply, "We could say the same."

"I know this place was like back home, but it was enjoyable at the very least.", Ty Lee also mentioned.

Blake replied, "We all enjoyed it. At least we have some memories from here that we'll remember."

"Alright, our ride won't come for much longer, so we'll be on our way to Beacon again.", Weiss told everyone but Ruby, Yang and Blake.

As said before, everyone sees the hovercraft shuttle arrive shortly after, preparing for everyone to board to leave Edo Island to return to Beacon in Remnant.

Ruby said, "Let's go, everyone.", before everyone starts boarding the hovercraft shuttle.

"Goodbye, Edo Island. We hope to visit you again in the future.", says Yang as everyone gets settled in.

And thus, with everyone now boarded, the hovercraft shuttle then goes off from Edo Island en route back to Beacon Academy in Remnant...

REMNANT
BEACON ACADEMY

10AM

Almost an hour later back on Remnant, Pyrrha, Nora, Penny, Jaune, Ren, Harley, Noelle, Church, Sarge and a few others then come out of the academy as they saw the hovercraft shuttle arrive once again.

Landing safely with the door hatch opening, team RWBY were the first ones to come out before the others.

"RWBY!", Pyrrha, Nora and Penny greet as they ran over to embrace the four.

Glynda walks over to the group, "I see you had a great time over at Edo Island?"

"It was fun. It's like we've travelled to another time period. Everything was authentic there.", Athena and Maka gave their verdict.

Baiken said, "I'd love to thank you for allowing the time for Ruby and the others to come to my home island. They enjoyed it for the most part."

"And in case you haven't noticed, my name's Ibuki.", greeted the black-haired kunoichi, shaking Glynda's hand as well as Pyrrha's, Nora's, Penny's, Harley's and Noelle's.

Church and Sarge ask, "You met the kunoichi from Street Fighter."

"Sort of. But she was awesome.", told Natsume.

"I'm Inori Yuzuriha, and this is May, Kuradoberi Jam and Millia Rage. We're friends of Baiken's.", she greeted to Glynda and the others.

Glynda simply said, "Pleased to meet you all.", turning to Ruby, "How was your experience thus far, Ruby?"

"It was incredible. I mean, how can this day get any better?", asked Ruby.

That is, before everyone turns to see another hovercraft shuttle arriving and landing at the drop-off point as well, opening the door hatch on arrival.

Ruby and Yang presumes, "Is that..."

"...who we think it is?", Blake and Weiss said in interest.

Just then, the ones coming out of the shuttle were indeed Cameron MacCloud, Yume, Kasuga, Emi Yusa, Eureka and their other friends, now having returned from their Niagara vacation from a few nights earlier.

"Oh my god, that Niagara Falls vacation was so incredible! I never had much fun ever since-", Cameron MacCloud said to Yume, Kasuga, Emi, Eureka and the others before she and her friends see RWBY, Baiken and the others looking at her.

Baiken simply greeted nicely, "Hello there.", as she and Cameron both look at each other courageously while the others watch...

End of Team RWBY's Commentary of The Purge

...And the end of Part 2 of Season 2.

To be continued.
