Hello everyone. Yes, I am still here and NO this story is not abandon. I am consistently trying to find time to write but with THREE boys now, I can't really find the time any more.
Update on my life? Eli is here. Six weeks old as of yesterday and the most perfect bundle of joy, just like his older brothers.
Update on SVU and OC? Can we just say OMG. They are killing us!
Hope you guys enjoy this update. I am always sorry for it taking so long. Hoping it won't take as long for the next one. I will finish this story.
Happy reading and please review!
By the time she reached 24 weeks, Olivia already felt like she was dying. According to her doctor, because of her age, it wasn't uncommon for the pregnancy to be harder on her body than it would have been for someone 20 years younger. Something she was well aware of but wasn't really able to fully understand, since she had no other previous pregnancy to compare it to. Her feet and back hurt, she could barely bend down to pick things off the floor, her heartburn was at an all time high, she couldn't seem to fully catch her breath, she was more moody than she had ever been and all in all she was just exhausted.
Elliot had been nothing less than wonderful to every discomfort she experienced. Every night when she came home from work, he was quick to remove her socks and shoes, guide her to the couch to sit down and massage her feet until dinner was done cooking. When her mood would begin to spiral downhill, he would use his calm composure to try to keep her calm as well.
Since she handled everything at her job, he made sure he handled everything at their home. By the time she arrived home, the boys were mostly done with their homework, the house was clean, dinner was finished and they all spent the rest of the night together as a family. When it was time for everyone to lay down, their shower routine always remained the same. He would take his time washing her to ensure that she was fully relaxed to have the best night sleep possible. The farther along she got, the harder sex became on her. It wasn't that they couldn't find a comfortable position, it was that she didn't have the energy. Although they kept their intimacy alive every night, by kissing, cuddling and making one another laugh, sex had been placed on the back burner. If Olivia initiated more, Elliot was more than happy to obliged but if she didn't, he was more than happy to hold back.
On the Saturday of the week she turned 25 weeks, Elliot made sure that Olivia got plenty of rest the night before. She was out by 9:30 and when he looked at that clock on the stove that Saturday morning and saw that it read 10:30, with still no sign of her waking up, he sighed in relief. He wanted her well rested because he had finally decided that it was the day to ask her to be his wife. He had contemplated over the weeks on what would be the perfect proposal for the woman and, with the help of Kathleen, he had finally figured it out. Although his plan was for a simple proposal, his plan for their night was for pure romance. He was more than glad that he had Kathleen to not only watch the boys for the night but to also set up the house while they were out for the day.
On top of the proposal, he was prepared to ask Noah for permission to adopt him as well. Him and Olivia hadn't started any of the process of adoption yet strictly because of the fact that he wanted Noah to accept him as his legal father first. He hoped by the end of the day he would not only have a wife to be but a son who accepted him wholeheartedly.
It wasn't until he sat down on the couch with his second cup of coffee, that he saw their door begin to open. Their eyes connected instantly and they both smiled at one another. "Good Morning sunshine," he said.
"Good morning? It's almost afternoon. You really need to stop letting me sleep so long on the weekends. I already don't see you guys enough, I can't afford to spend half the day sleeping."
Although he nodded, he said, "You need your rest, Liv." As he stood up to take the view steps to her, he added, "You're baking a baby."
She rolled her eyes slightly and placed her hands on his hips, "Trust me El, I am very aware that I am baking a baby. She's the one who ultimately woke me up this morning."
As his hands came up to rest on her belly, he said, "Our little jumping bean?"
"Definitely, but I'm pretty sure she's bigger than a bean at this point."
He smiled and leaned in to kiss her lightly on the lips, "You hungry?"
She nodded, "I'm always hungry and I would love a cup of coffee."
"You got it, baby. I'll get you fed and then I was thinking since it's such a nice day outside, we can take the boys to the park."
"That sounds like a great idea." Since she still worked so much, anytime an opportunity presented itself to spend time with any of the boys, Olivia was quick to take it. There were even a few times throughout the last couple weeks that Elliot had surprised her in her office with lunch. Even the times where she couldn't escape her seat because of the phone ringing off the hook, he would still place her lunch in front of her and sit across from her in silence, just to watch her eat and work. Although those were the times where few words were spoken between them, they were also the times that made her fall more in love with him. Silence had the ability to say so much between two people and the way his eyes shined with pride watching her pry through files, explain strategies over the phone and stuff her face, made the butterflies in her stomach grow bigger than they already were. The man really was her soulmate.
Since a trip to the park with the boys consisted of a full day of outdoor activities, Elliot agreed to stop at the local outdoor store for them to pick out a few activities they were interested in. As the couple followed the boys around the store, debating with them which activities would and would not be a good idea, Olivia caught sight of what she thought was the most perfect thing.
When she released Elliot's hand to walk towards the item, she wasn't surprised when his eyes only followed her for a brief second before turning back to the boys to start regulating their wants once again. Her feet carried her to the item that caught her eye and as she made her way closer to it, she loved it even more. The pink onesie that she reached for read, "Careful, My Daddy is a Cop." Although Elliot was no longer a cop, she still felt like it fit his demeanor perfectly. She knew that even though he was going to be older as they raised Hannah, he was still going to make sure he scared away every boy that was remotely interested in her.
They hadn't bought anything for their daughter thus far. Olivia really wanted a day to go shopping strictly for her, however Elliot made a good point when he had brought up the fact that they had no idea what everyone was going to get them for the baby shower. As she fingered the pink onesie in her hands she decided that they were definitely going home and starting a baby registry.
She didn't jump when his arms encircled her waist and landed on her stomach, nor did she hesitate lifting the material so he could see it. "We are definitely getting this. And when we get home I want to start a baby registry because I seriously just realized how much I want to go shopping for her."
He smiled and kissed her cheek gently, "You got it baby."
When they arrived at the park, the boys didn't waste any time grabbing their bag of activities and picking a spot on the open field in Central Park. Olivia and Elliot followed closely behind them and took a seat on the closest picnic bench next to them. As Eli and Noah became busy playing soccer, Olivia became busy eating her chili dog and Elliot became busy mentally contemplating how the perfect way to ask her would be. He knew by the time his mind conjured up the possibility that she was going to say no, that he was overthinking the whole thing. Sometimes things that were not as planned, were the things that were the most perfect. So instead of continuing his thought process, he decided to let the day decide for him and got up to play soccer with the boys.
Olivia watched them intently as the three of them kicked the ball back and forth. She wished she could join them as well but knew that the life growing inside of her was prohibiting that want. Although sometimes it made her sad that she could not be as active with Noah as she previously was, nothing could overpower her happiness for her and Elliot's daughter. The thought of having a child at her age still terrified her. Fears of how her birth was going to go, how she was going to be able to leave Hannah after her maternity leave was up and how her and Elliot were going to raise a teenager in their late 60s, were constantly rolling through her head on a day to day basis. Elliot's calm exterior assisted in her staying calm as well. However, the farther she got along and the closer she got to giving birth, the fears inside her heightened. She had read numerous survivors' birth stories. From those that were positive to those that were more than negative. Although she and Elliot had yet to make a birth plan and had yet to discuss on how to keep her PTSD from coming to the forefront of her mind, she had secretly been making not only a list of possible triggers but also a list of calming techniques on her phone. Her strategy was to make sure she was one hundred percent confident in her list before sharing it with Elliot. That way it would be easier for them to figure out together exactly what he needed to do to keep her calm in the room. As in sync as they were, she had great confidence that they would figure it out.
She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't even realize Elliot sat down beside her until he leaned over and whispered in her ear, "Whatcha thinking about?"
The sudden sound of his voice made her jump lightly and she leaned into him instinctively, "Everything." When his eyebrows raised for her to continue, she said, "Our daughter. Our kids. Our lives. I mean, everything is just so perfect, El."
As his arm wrapped around her shoulders, he whispered, "The ball isn't going to drop, Liv. I promise you."
She nodded, "I know. I believe you. I've always believed you. I just keep thinking it can't get any more perfect."
He smiled widely and kissed the top of her head. "You know, I keep thinking that also. This short time we've been together, I mean actually been together, has been everything I could have ever hoped for. I'm continuously striving to make sure that you have everything you never had in life and I want to do that for the rest of my life. This, what we have created, is beautiful and there's only one thing that would make our lives more perfect than it already is." Before she even had a chance to question him, he was already on one knee before her with the ring in his hand. Elliot was a lot of things, including a man who quite literally shoved a $12,000 engagement ring in his pocket without a box. "Will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me Olivia Benson?"
As her brown eyes stared into his blue eyes, she couldn't help the tears that slid down her cheeks. All the times their eyes had connected over the 20 years they knew one another and this was the most meaningful of them all. His eyes held so much at that moment. Love, compassion, hope and although she knew he was trying to hide it, fear. She wasn't sure what the fear stemmed from but she knew she wanted it to escape his mind as soon as possible. Her head was nodding yes at the same time her arms were wrapping around his neck and her lips were leaning in to connect with his. They connected in a series of pecks at first. Between each peck she said, "Yes", "Yes", "Yes." By the third yes their tongues were touching briefly and two boys were groaning in disgust behind them. Their combined laugh unconnected their lips and she was holding her hand out in front of him. Wanting a ring was not something she had ever specified to him. However, the fact that she had seen it on his hand made her more than excited to have one. "The ring, put it on me."
He had barely slipped the ring on her finger before Eli was saying, "No way!" behind him.
"No way what?!" Noah said.
"Dad asked your mom to marry him!"
"Really?!"
"Really baby," Olivia said as she held out her hand to show the boys the flower shaped diamond on her finger.
As the boys admired her finger, Elliot leaned close to her ear and whispered, "If you don't like the ring, we can…"
Although she hadn't really had a chance to look at the ring before the boys bombarded her, her lips connected to his briefly, "I love it." She would have loved anything he chose for her.
"Does that mean you guys are going to have a wedding mom? And you're going to wear a big pretty white dress?" Noah asked.
Olivia laughed lightly, "Yes, Noah we're going to have a wedding. A big pretty white dress is questionable though."
"I actually have something for you too, Noah," Elliot said as he reached behind him to grab something out of one of the bags they brought with them.
Since Olivia and Eli already knew what was coming next, they both sat on the bench and watched the scene unfold before their eyes in silence. Elliot pulled out the gift he had made especially for Noah and knelt down in front of him. "I want you to know that I not only love your mother very much, but I love you very much as well. I feel like you've been my son forever and I promise you that I will always be a father to you, as long as you'll have me as one. Your answer to this question will never change that. But if you'll have me, I would love to be your father legally." As he asked him, he showed him the handmade metal boy dancing figure.
Noah took the figure from him and read what it said on it outloud, "To the son that chose me, from the father that chose him." When he looked back at Elliot he smiled, "I don't understand, I thought you were already my father legally. Why is this adoption stuff so complicated?"
As Elliot pulled him in for a bear hug, everyone around them laughed. The man couldn't help his eyes filling with tears when he said, "I don't know but wait until the papers come along. It becomes even more complicated."
"Great," the young boy said as he wrapped his arms around his father as well.
