Chapter 79 – Hide and Seek with Genie

The Doctor popped inside the Presidential Palace's hallway. He rubbed his head and heard children playing. He hid quickly behind a suite of armor. Jacob and Tony ran down the hall. They were laughing and looking for something.

Tony put his hands on his hips. "Genie! You have to come out sometime!"

Jacob laughed, "She's the best at Hide and Seek! Where is she?"

The Doctor took out his phone and looked up Genie's GPS location. He could feel her happiness. The boys ran down the hall to continue to look for her. He slipped out from the behind the suit of armor and took off his shoes so he wouldn't make any noise. He slid them into his pockets of his suit.

He crept down the hall, sliding his phone back in his pocket. He turned a corner and saw Genie hiding behind large plant. He quickly jumped behind the plant with her. She jumped, but smiled as soon as she realized it was him. She hugged him as he kissed her on the forehead. "What's base, Little One?" he whispered to her.

He leaned back and looked in her eyes. He put his finger to his lips and whispered. "Tell me in my head."

Genie smiled and put her hand on his cheek. 'It's in the big, red room where Nanna Jones says they draw.'

The Doctor smiled. He put his hand on her cheek. 'The Crimson Drawing Room?'

Genie smiled, 'I heard Crimson. Yes. That's what she said. We can't get there though. Jacob and Tony are going to catch us!'

The Doctor shook his head and said, "Nah. Daddy's here to help." He pulled her into his arms and popped them into the Drawing Room. No one was there. Genie laughed. "Brilliant, Daddy! I won!"

The Doctor quickly hid behind the curtains. "Have them play again. Don't tell them I'm here."

Genie laughed. "Tony! Jacob! I won!"

Tony and Jacob ran back in the room and saw her. "Wow! How did you do that, Genie? You are the best at this game!"

Genie smiled. "Let's do it again!"

Tony insisted. "Well, alright. But I think I need Jacob to help me find you. Can we do it that way? Would that be alright?"

Genie shrugged her shoulders. "Sure!"

Genie ran down the hall as both of the boys counted to 100. After they finished counting, Tony looked at Jacob. "Okay, mate. This is what we're going to do. I'll go find her. You stay outside the doors so she has to pass by you to get in here. That way we can catch her."

The Doctor looked impressed. "Clever." he whispered.

Tony left to go find Genie. The Doctor looked up her location on his phone and used his watch to pop to get her. As soon as he got her, he popped them up a floor into a hallway.

Genie looked around once they got there. "Daddy, that's cheating."

He put his hands on his hips and looked at her. "Oh, like we wasn't cheating before!"

She put her hands on her hips and looked at him. Considered him for a moment and said, "That's very true!"

"I thought you were going to ride horses?" he asked her.

She waved her hands as she paced the floor. "Oh, phhh... Uncle Howie had to go talk to someone. He's coming back and then we'll go."

The Doctor chuckled at how much she reminded him of Rose in that moment. He ran his hand through his hair. "I'm going to go see Rose for a moment. Do you want to go with me? Surprise her?"

Genie looked surprised. "What now?"

"Yeah. I already told your Nanna Jones I'm here." he reasoned.

She threw her hands out, "But, we're in the middle of the game, Daddy!"

He knelt down in front of her. "Yeah we are. They can't find you in New Jersey."

She smiled. "Crank up your motor, Daddy! Let's go see her!"

He laughed at her. "Yes, my princess." He picked her up and kissed her cheek. "I've missed you. I'm glad you are coming home tonight."

"Yeah, but we're coming back here to finish this game, today!" Genie told him.

"Indeed. I never run out on a game. Don't worry, Little One." he told her.
