Chapter 80 – A Quick Pop-By

The Doctor popped himself and Genie into a small closet. He went to open the door and found it locked.

Genie laughed, "Well, pop us out of here!"

He smiled, "Nah, don't worry. Daddy is really good at locked doors." He took out his sonic screwdriver and unlocked the door. He stepped out in the hallway, holding Genie, and looked around. "Wow. This place hasn't changed at all!"

Genie looked around. "This looks like a castle!"

He smiled, "It's a University. Where people go to learn. Our Rose is going to teach them about Physics today. She's still doing her tour right now."

He walked down the hall until he came to some doors. He opened them and found himself in a big cafeteria. He spotted them immediately. Marines, the Quauhtin, Jake, Jack and Rose with several people wearing suits. Rose was wearing a lovely skirt suit. The Marines and Quauhtin surrounded them as they sat and ate something. Knowing Rose, it was most likely chips. She was deep in a conversation with several people from the University.

He stood and watched for a few minutes. Genie kissed him on the cheek. "Daddy, you have to walk over to her."

He smiled as he returned to the moment. He sat Genie down. "Go on over to her. Surprise her."

Genie jumped down and ran over to the crowd. Shakes saw her coming and picked her up and kissed her. He took her to Rose and sat her in Rose's lap. The Doctor heard Rose exclaim, "Genie! What in the world?" He could feel her surprise.

He walked over and shook Jake's hand. "Nice to see you, Director!"

Jack laughed and patted him on the back, "Right on time! Well, of course."

He rolled his eyes at them as he sat next to Rose quickly, "I'm not really here. I'm not staying." he told her quickly. Genie was in her lap, hugging her neck.

Rose saw him. "What? What are you doing here?"

He smiled as he looked in her eyes. "I just wanted to pop by. See you for a few minutes. I have to go back in a bit. Deal with some stuff. Genie and I have missed you."

Rose laughed at him as he leaned in and kissed her quickly. "I'm glad you came by. I've missed you both. Especially this one!" Rose told Genie as she kissed her. "Our flat is too quiet without you there. What's your favorite ice cream? We're going to have an ice cream party tonight when you get home."

"Strawberry!" Genie told Rose.

The Doctor laughed, "Ha! Like her Daddy, right Rose?"

Rose rolled her eyes and laughed, "Yeah, something like that."

A man in a suit who sat across from the table introduced himself to the Doctor. "Sir. I'm Doctor Jim Nassau. We're so happy to have Rose here today with us."

The Doctor stood up and shook his hand, "Pleased to meet you. I'm Doctor Johnathon Smith. Rose's husband."

"Oh! I had no idea you were married!"

Rose smiled as Jack grabbed Genie and hugged her. "We've only been married a few days."

"Newlyweds! Congratulations! Well, I'm sure you're thrilled over the news, Doctor Smith." he said.

Rose waved her hand, "No, I've not told him yet. I wanted to see his face."

The Doctor sat back down next to Rose. He looked at her and held his hands up to his face. "Here it is. I brought my face. What?"

Rose laughed at him. "You are so funny. Jack, Jake, Shakes. Watch this. Doctor Nassau, you can tell him."

He looked at Doctor Nassau who was smiling. "We've decided to present Rose Tyler with an honorary Doctorate of Science from our University."

His mouth hit the floor. He looked back at Rose, "Really? Doctor Rose Tyler?!" He smiled.

Rose nodded her head and smiled back at him. "Doctor Rose Tyler-Smith. Can you believe that?"

He ran his hand through his hair. "Wow! Doesn't really surprise me, you're brilliant!"

She giggled at him. She grabbed the collar of his jacket and pulled him to her. "Come here, I know you want to."

He was smiling like a loon. "Sweetheart, I don't think I can kiss you. I'm smiling too much."

She laughed as she leaned in and kissed him quickly. All of the crowd around the table cheered. The Doctor rolled his eyes at them. "Oh geez, people. I'm just kissing my wife! Good grief."

Rose laughed, "They are excited."

"I'm excited! Wow!" He turned and shook Doctor Nassau's hand.

Doctor Nassau smiled, "Two Doctors in the family. How about that?"

The Doctor beamed in pride at her, "Wow! Brilliant!"

Genie called to him, "Daddy! We need to get back to our game!"

He ran his hand through his hair. "Quite right, Little One! Tell our Rose that we will see her later. We have a game of Hide and Seek to win!"

Rose looked confused. "Who are you playing Hide and Seek with?"

He laughed, "Jacob and Tony. They are cheating, so we are too! Plus, I need Jake for the rest of the day. Something has come up."

Jack handed Genie to Jake. Rose looked concerned, "Everything alright?"

The Doctor shrugged his shoulders, "Ah, just something I need him to take care of for me. He's the best at it. Don't worry about it, Rose. Everything is alright."

Rose smiled as she stood up and kissed Genie on her cheek. "I'll see you later. Strawberry Ice Cream?"

"Yes! What's your favorite, Rose?" Genie asked her.

"Chocolate." Rose told her.

The Doctor smiled at them both and kissed Rose quickly. "We're off to win our game! See you later tonight. Let me know if you need me."

"I'll be fine." Rose told him.

He walked away from the crowd. "Men, take care of my girl!" The Marines snapped to and replied, "Yes, sir!"

Genie jumped in Jake's arms, "They are scary!"

Jack joined the Doctor and Jake and walked out the doors and down the hall with them both. "Okay, what the hell are you up to?"

The Doctor smiled at him. "You'll really have to be more clear, Jack. I have a lot going on."

Jack held his hand up and stopped him. "You're taking Jake. I want to know, what's came up?"

The Doctor put his hands on his hips and looked at them both. "I had a friend tell me that he knows who our Time Weaver is. He's given me a name. Jake, I need you to go back and see what you can find out about a man named Dorian Ides."

Jake looked surprised. "Wow! Who gave you this information?"

The Doctor rubbed his beard. "I'll keep that to myself for the moment. But, you can trust it's true."

Genie smiled at Jake, "It's true, Jake."

The Doctor smiled at her. "And that, gentlemen, should be all the assurance you need. I'll explain that later." He held out his hands for Genie. Jake handed her back to the Doctor who kissed her cheek as soon as she was in his arms again.

Jack nodded his head. "So, we're going to go get this guy?"

The Doctor held Genie and shook his head. "No. That's where we've messed up before. I want to find him and watch him. We could have gotten more information if we had just sat on some of this, instead of acting on it. I have a plan. I really want this guy!"

Genie put her hand on the Doctor's cheek. "Daddy, is this a monster?"

The Doctor looked at her and nodded his head. "Yes, little one. This is a monster. Don't worry about anything we're talking about."

The Doctor looked at the two men. He pointed at Jack, "You. With Rose." He pointed at Jake, "You, back to Torchwood and get me some information. I'll be back in about an hour." He smiled back at Genie. "I'm got to take Genie back and win a game!"
