Where Sheldon and Amy are 'safety partners'. They had the deal before they both went to different universities.
They are high school sweethearts. Both were glad to have found one another so early on their life. The two of them are like two pods in a peapod. Their mutual interest to science surely helped their blossoming relation. Knowing they are still young and to accomplish and contribute a lot to the science community, they made a pact. A marriage pact.
By the time they turn 40, and both still single; they are to wed one another. At the time, it seem the most reasonable. They both knew they wanted to get married someday; it is just a question to who and when. They both are still young and still have a lot to achieve. They will put their careers first.
For years, the gang has been wondering what Sheldon's deal is. Sheldon always went on how he is above baser urges, though he did talked one time that he will get married someday. They're puzzled and despite the rigorous pestering; Sheldon kept mum on who or what their friend is on about.
Little did they know Sheldon has been waiting years for Amy. He took no mind about the pact at first, thinking only of the Lady Science deserving of his attention. Maybe, one day, he will even meet a woman more remarkable than Amy that he'll think of courting. But, for years, he feels secured knowing once he turn 40, he will be having someone to spend life with.
Only to be disappointed when he received a wedding invitation from his mailbox one day.
Sheldon soon wondered if he sought out to Amy and act on his feelings will things differ for them.
A/N: A little angst. Sheldon kept on with his life and did not kept contact with Amy, thinking the pact may still have its validity only to be disappointed. IDK.
