Day 3 - 6:30 AM

The night had been torture. Every thought was laced with his need for her. He tried desperately to control his desire lest it seep out and become noticeable to the many inu-noses. He had finally fallen asleep only to be woken up ten minutes later by Rin and his mother. He did not need sleep, but it certainly would make things a lot easier if he did. He had been able to keep thoughts of her at bay during the conversation with his mother, that was until he looked down at his breakfast and saw the fish and berries.

Thoughts of her eating the breakfast he had prepared for her flooded his mind; as did the memories of what came after. She had called him warm, and touched him, and proven him to be warm. His beast groaned with need and it took all of his self control to keep it in check. He quickly contained his youki and lowered his eyes, he could feel them start to turn.

"Sesshoumaru?" His mother asked. "Is everything ok?"

"Yes." He managed to spit out.

"Lord Sesshoumaru?" Rin's voice did the trick. His beast instantly calmed at the thought of looking less than perfect in Rin's eyes.

"I am fine, Rin." He said, his eyes meeting hers.

Rin nodded and continued to eat, but his mother's gaze was fixed on him.

"Eat quickly Rin, you should not keep your instructors waiting." He said as he too started to eat.

"Yes, Lord Sesshoumaru!" She quickly finished and excused herself from the table, waiting for InuKimi at the door.

"Are you coming, Lady Mother?" She asked innocently.

"Yes dear, go on without me, I shall meet you there." InuKimi replied.

"Ok!" Rin walked down the hall with the ladies in waiting, all the while talking.

"Sesshoumaru… Wh.." She started, but Sesshoumaru cut her off.

"I said I was fine, mother."

"That was not fine! You nearly lost control near Rin! You cannot be expected to continue this way, Sesshoumaru!" She hissed out, careful to keep her voice low, in case the walls had ears.

"I. AM. FINE." He proclaimed.

InuKimi huffed but knew it would not be beneficial to continue fighting with him. Her fears were coming true. If he continued to deny himself he would be torn apart. Although she knew he had no intention of taking on a mate, and she had not really been looking for him to get one, only looking for him to open up to the possibility, it was becoming clear that he would need to be mated before the next blood moon. If he continued to fight with himself, to deny his urges, his demon, he may lose himself completely and not even Rin would be safe.

"Very well, Sesshoumaru. Just remember this; the longer this goes on, the longer you put Rin in danger." With those words she stood up and walked away, leaving a seething Sesshoumaru behind.
