Chapter 81 - Regeneration Energy Healing
The Doctor and Genie played Hide and Seek several more times. Each time they played Genie would run off to hide; the Doctor would pop to get her, use telepathy to speak to one another, and then the Doctor would pop her back to base. Sometimes, they would sneak down the hallway and hide again together from Tony and Jacob.
They both had such fun. Genie was beginning to understand more of what the Doctor would say to her in her head. It was only when Howie came up to the drawing room and saw them pop back in the room did the Doctor know the game was over. Howie put his hands on his hips and laughed. The Doctor put his fingers on his lips and said, "Shhhh….."
Howie looked stunned at him. The Doctor ran and hid behind the curtain again. Howie watched as Genie called for Tony and Jacob. "Boys! I won again!"
Tony and Jacob ran into the drawing room. Tony scratched his head. "Dang it! I can't figure out how you are doing this!"
Jacob put his hands on his hips. "She's the best at this game, Tony! Wow!"
Howie smiled as he watched the children. "You whippersnappers go on downstairs and we'll ride."
The children ran out of the room. Genie turned once she got to the doorway and blew the Doctor a kiss. He had stepped out from behind the curtain and was smiling at her.
Howie met him, hands on his hips. "I believe they call that a bilk."
The Doctor looked confused at him, "I'm sorry, a what?"
Howie threw his arms out, "A chisel."
The Doctor shook his head and put his hands on his hips, "Still not following, Howie. Sorry."
Howie took his hat off and shouted, "A swindle! A cheat!"
The Doctor smiled and rubbed his beard. "Yeah, or an advantage."
"Have you been up here with these children all day?" Howie asked.
The Doctor shook his head. "Nah, just the past hour or so."
Howie laughed at him and slapped him on the back. "Genie is lucky to have such a father. Go on back to work. I'll take care of them!"
The Doctor smiled, "Oh, I have no doubt. Thank you, Howie."
Howie walked out of the room, laughing at the entire situation.

The Doctor knocked on Pete's hospital room's door and entered. Pete was sitting in a chair having tea. Jackie was sitting on the side of his bed, smiling.
"Hey! Doctor!" Pete greeted him.
Jackie noticed immediately. "What happened to your leg!?"
The Doctor looked embarrassed and ran his hand through his hair. "Yeah, Jackie. Pete. I need to chat with you about something. First of all, how are you doing, Pete?"
Pete shrugged his shoulders. "They are all scratching their heads trying to figure me out. They said I shouldn't be feeling this good. I'm in remarkable shape for what I went through. They want to have a word with you when you have a minute."
The Doctor sat in the recliner he had been in the night before and rubbed his face. "Yeah, I bet they do. Ugh! Oh, well."
Pete laughed at him. "Okay, what's going on? Why aren't you wearing your leg brace?"
The Doctor sat up on the end of the chair and rubbed his hands together. He looked at them, "I'm glad you are both together. I've wanted to talk you both for a while, without Rose around. She won't agree with what I'm about to tell you. Rose was worried you wouldn't like it at all, and swore me not to tell you about it. I'm sorry, but I just can't keep a secret from either of you like this. As her parents, you should know."
Jackie looked confused. "Rose is alright?"
The Doctor smiled and nodded, "She's fine. She's amazing. I just saw her. No, it's not that."
Pete looked confused, "Then what is it?"
The Doctor rubbed his hands together. "Let's start with me. My leg. My hand. I was also shot in the arm a few days ago…" He looked up at them and tossed his hands up, "I'm fine. See me, sitting here, speaking with you. I'm completely fine. I know I had told you had used that machine on my hand, Jackie. But, I'm sorry. That wasn't it."
Jackie looked worried. "Then, what was it?"
He looked at her. "It was me. I healed myself. I can do that. If I get hurt very badly, I'll completely change. You remember that. I used to have a different face."
Jackie nodded, "Yes. I remember. I still don't understand that."
He shook his head. "You don't have to. I really hope I don't have to deal with that again, for a long time. But, with small things, like cuts, broken hands, and burnt shoulders…..I can heal myself. It's something people can do where I'm from."
Pete chuckled. "Very neat!"
Jackie still looked confused. "But, you rode to the hospital in an ambulance."
He nodded, "Yeah, I did. I was hurt. They stitched my leg back up. I got sick of the pain, and healed my leg. I'm too busy to be hurt."
Jackie shook her head in disbelief. "Okay. That's just weird. What does this have to do with Rose?"
He rubbed his hands together, "Well, I did it to Rose, too. When she had her heart surgery. She came back to her house, and I didn't want her to be in pain. I used my regeneration energy to heal her. She's completely fine. Been fine since the day she came home. A bit tired, but that's always been her. She can sleep 24 hours a day!"
Jackie looked shocked, "This doesn't hurt you?"
He shook his head. "No. It doesn't. I can't do it a lot, I only have a limited amount of …. The stuff I use to regenerate myself. It's really only supposed to be used for me. But, I don't want Rose to ever be in pain. I don't want her to hurt. I would do anything to make her life easier. She deserves so much more than even what I can give. "
Pete realized where he had gone with this. Trying not to act like this was news that was sortof new to him, he smiled. "That's amazing, Doctor! Wow!"
Jackie looked at him. "Why didn't you tell us?"
The Doctor shook his head. "Rose asked me not to. She was worried you wouldn't approve. Mad, alien man using some strange power on their daughter to make her better. I told her that I didn't know you very well at the time, but felt like she was over reacting. As a parent, I don't really care how my Genie is better, as long as she's better."
Pete smiled, "I agree!"
Jackie shook her head. "And, she's alright?"
He shook his head. "She's completely fine. Same Rose. Nothing is different. Her cells were rebuilt the same way they were before."
He chuckled as he blushed and told them, "She even grew back a small birthmark she had on her chest. Completely the same as she was."
Jackie smiled. "No scars?"
"Like nothing ever happened. I even blocked her fear in her mind. She's not suffering from PTSD any longer. She's so amazing. I'm so glad I could help make her better." The Doctor told them.
Pete looked impressed. "Wow! Isn't that something, Jacks? Could we have found a better guy for Rose?"
Jackie covered her mouth in disbelief. "Oh, I'm going to kill, Rose! Why didn't she tell me? I've been worried sick!"
The Doctor laughed, "That's the reason I'm telling you now. Rose finally agreed with me about telling you this morning. It became apparent I was going to have to explain what happened with my leg. So, I told her I would rather just get it all out in the open. Well, at least between us. I felt like it would ease your mind. She's fine, Jackie. Completely. You'd never know anything happened."
Jackie realized, "Like Pete! You've done something to Pete!"
The Doctor smiled, "Yes. I did. Something a bit different, but I won't deny it. He's going to be fine."
Jackie put her hand over her mouth and cried.
Pete rolled his eyes. "Oh geez, Jacks. So, dramatic?"
Jackie smacked his shoulder as she walked over to the Doctor and stood in front of him. He looked up at her. "Are you going to smack me, Jackie Tyler?"
She grabbed him and stood him up. Then she threw her arms around him. She could only manage to whisper, "Thank you."
Pete laughed silently at the look on the Doctor's shocked face as Jackie held him. He mouthed, "Great idea! Brilliant!"
