Day 3 - 7:00 AM
*Knock knock knock*
"Kagome!" Souta shouted. "Kagomeee!"
Kagome stirred awake. She had been having such a pleasant dream, filled with stubborn Inu's and hot springs.
"I'm up!" She yelled back, her eyes still closed. "I'll be down in a minute!"
"Ok! Mom made breakfast!" Souta replied as he headed down the stairs.
Kagome snuggled a little deeper into the blankets, wanting to get a few more minutes of sleep, but she knew if she did, he would come running right back up to ruin it. 'Ok! Let's just get up already.' She said to herself.
She slowly got up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes, her hair was a complete disaster so she combed it out and made sure to have it come to the front of her shoulders, hiding the little love bite from view. Her finger gently went over it, she could almost sense his youki as she touched it. The color remained a deep purple/red, still very obvious. Giving herself one last glance to make sure it was completely covered, she made her way down to the kitchen to join her family.
"Good morning everyone!" She said, sitting down next to her brother to eat her breakfast.
"Kagome! When did you get back?" Her grandfather asked.
"Last night, sorry I missed you." She replied, keeping her eyes down.
"Kagome was very tired last night." Her mother supplied.
Kagome gave her mother a thankful look and continued eating her breakfast.
"I gotta run!" Souta said, quickly shoveling down his food and putting his dishes in the sink.
"Wait! Souta, where are you going?" Kagome asked.
"We got a game at 8 at the school, it's actually a little tournament. You're welcome to come if you'd like." He said, giving his mother a kiss on the cheek.
"Uh, I'll try to make it if I get a chance." She said non committedly. She was not a huge fan of soccer, and Souta knew that.
"Ok, if not we can hang out later, maybe do some shopping." He said with a smile.
"That sounds even better." Kagome said, giving her little brother a wink.
"Alright, wish me luck!" He said as he headed out the door.
"Good luck!" They all yelled back at him.
"I should head off too." Her grandfather said.
"Where are you going grandpa?" She asked.
"It would seem that he has a date today with Hiromi, the cashier from the shop down the road." Her mother said.
"It is not a date! We are simply going to go enjoy the cherry blossoms and have a light lunch after." He said blushing hotly.
Kagome giggled into her hand and watched as her grandfather practically danced out of the kitchen.
"How long has that been going on for?" She asked her mother.
"Hmm, about a month I think." She responded.
"Well good for him." Kagome finished her meal and went to wash her dishes.
"What about you Kagome?" Her mother hedged.
"Um…" Kagome was unsure of where to even start.
"How about I ask you some questions instead?" Her mother asked. It was obvious to her that Kagome didn't know what to say.
Kagome nodded and sat down in front of her mother again.
"Just to be clear, it was Sesshoumaru who gave you that mark, correct?" She started.
Kagome nodded. "Yes."
"Was whatever happened between you two consensual?"
Kagome's face flared up in a deep scarlet color, but she nodded nonetheless. "Yes."
Ms. Higurashi gave out a sigh of relief. She didn't worry too much about Kagome, she knew she was a smart girl, but that didn't mean that others would respect her the way she deserved to be respected, especially in a time and place where women were used as bargaining chips. The fact that whatever had happened between them was something she had wanted took a weight off her shoulders.
"Now, I hate to bring this up Kagome, but what about Inuyasha?" Her mother asked.
"Inuyasha?" Kagome questioned.
"Yes, I assume you have not told him, but are you really ok with keeping this a secret from him?" Her mother's eyes held her gaze.
"I… I'm not ok with keeping it a secret, but… I am not sure what exactly is going on with me and Sesshoumaru. We are supposed to meet again in a week, and we can discuss it then." Kagome answered truthfully.
"Okay." She nodded in approval.
Clapping her hands together, Ms. Higurashi stood up and went to prepare herself a cup of tea to go. "I think I asked everything I really needed to. Is there anything you wanted to tell me?" She asked, wondering why it felt like she was forgetting to ask something important?
"Uh.. No?" Kagome answered, a little unsure.
"Alright then dear, I have some errands to run before heading back to work, and I assume you have some assignments to turn in, right?" Ms. Higurashi asked, getting her things ready to take off. She didn't want to rush this discussion with her daughter but she really did have to get going soon.
"Yes. I just need to submit them and see what I have next. Oh, I also need to do some shopp…. Oh no!" Kagome's palm met with her face as she smacked herself for being so forgetful once again.
"Kagome?" Her mother asked in concern.
"Ouch…" She rubbed her forehead, "Sorry, I completely forgot to get the shopping list I went back for to begin with." She sighed in defeat. "I'll have to go back later this afternoon, after I submit all my assignments."
Kagome's mom simply giggled.
"Ok! I better get started. I'll see you later mama!" She called as she raced up the stairs to change and turn in her assignments. 'Thank God for online schools.' She thought.
"Bye dear!" Her mother called back to her.
Ms. Higurashi was halfway down the shrine stairs when she remembered what she had wanted to ask her daughter. She stopped and looked back at the steps. 'I am going to be late if I go back up now… I can just ask her when I come back home.' She thought as she continued down. She trusted her daughter, but she knew that sometimes emotions could get the best of us and make us forget important things. She just wanted to be sure her daughter was making educated decisions. Thankfully her forgetfulness gave her a little extra time to come up with the best way to approach the subject. There just had to be a better way of asking then 'Are you guys using protection.' Ms. Higurashi thought as she got on the bus.
