A/N: since I think that I was grasping at straws on Game of Life, I decided to document the supposed events that can support this pairing.
Chapter 7: The Acknowledgement [Part 10]
After Rukia left for her last mission as unseated shinigami, Byakuya spent his time in the shrine of his late wife.
Meditating.
He knew that, this time would come.
But it did not lessen the guilt and regret… he made mistakes.
And thus he needs to stick to his promise to his late wife… his redemption.
Be Rukia's brother… a family she never had.
Her brother in law… whose wife abandoned her baby sister to survive…
Atonement of the dead.
"Hisana" he called to his wife's only remaining picture. Stoic.
He doesn't know what to feel about his late wife…. After all the things that had happened.
But one thing he stood for.
He will die first, before letting his honor get lost.
And he shall keep his word.
"I will be her family" Byakuya uttered, as he stared unto his wife's picture, firm.
"Her brother" he stated in finality.

And thus, Byakuya decided that he will not remarry.
He would fulfill the prophecy… and reverse the ancient curse.
He would appoint Rukia as his hire. The new leader of the Kuchiki clan.
He would end the Kuchiki blood line, himself.
A promise that had never been allowed to be fulfilled.
A secret.
A curse.
"Never shall the Kuchiki blood, find happiness in marriage"
