Chapter 82 – Night Celebration
Everyone arrived at the place where the celebration would taking place. The gardens were beautiful and well decorated. Each round table had 9 seats and in each one was a planet or ship in the center, so the guests when arrived, they would know what planet or ship they got and with that they would know their table. In one end was a stage with a band and in the middle of the tables was the dance floor. In the other end was a bar. This time there was waiters who would serve the guests.
They arrived and there was a waiter who was at the entrance of the garden, gave each one of them a card with a picture of a ship
"This is the ship there is on your table center" the waiter said and they enter the place.
"Hey Han we got the Falcon" Ines said smiling at his future brother in law.
Chewie growled making them smiled and they started to find where their table was, and as they found it, they all sat down: Luke and Ines sat down with Ben in his floating crib between them, playing with this Red 5, sucking on one the wings of the toy; with R2 near them and 3PO siting down near them too; Chewie sat next to Luke, then Han and Leia with Iris sitting between them.
"Who will sit in those 3 places?" Iris asked looking at her parents.
"I see I will sit here with you"
They looked up and saw Wedge with his new wife.
"Wedge! Prim!" Leia smiled as the newlyweds sat down.
"When did you return from your honeymoon?" Ines asked them
"Last week." Prim replied smiling
"How does it feel to be married?" Han asked them
"It is great. At least I love it" Wedge smiled to his wife
"I know what you mean" Luke said "And wait until you two have kids. It is the best thing you would ever want" he smiled looking at his boy who was having a conversation with his toy.
"I can't believe he is that size?" Wedge said looking at the baby
"Me neither. A year ago I was caring him inside me" Ines looked at her son and stroke his cheeks.
"Prim and I will wait a little longer but we can't wait to start a family" Wedge smile.
They started to talk about the party and how the place was nice, when a familiar voice came behind them
"I can't believe"
They looked behind and they all smiled
"Lando!" Han stood up and hugged his friend, followed by Luke
"We didn't know you would come?" Luke asked happy to see his friend
"I decided to make a surprise" Lando smiled and kissed Leia and then Ines on the cheeks. "No way. Is this little Ben?" he said as the little boy that Luke pulled him into his arms after picking him up from the crib.
The baby looked at a new face he never saw and finding Lando's mustache funny, he tried to reached Lando's face and tried to grabbed it, but Luke pulled his son's arms away
"No sweetie" he giggled making Lando laughed as well.
"Nice kid. You have your father's blue eyes but you looked more like your mother in terms of features, except the chin. That is yours too Luke" Lando said making Luke looked at his son
"Hard to believe that he also participate in the events a year ago" Luke said
"Yes he did, that's right." Lando smiled and looked at Iris "And who is this beautiful girl?"
"I'm Iris Skywalker Organa Solo" she said all proud making Lando looked at Han and Leia
"Iris is our daughter" Leia smiled stroking her daughter's hair.
"Nice to meet such a beautiful young lady" Lando said kissing the girls hand making her giggle happily.
Sitting down next to Leia, the waiter started serving them. The Menu was:
Vegetable Soup
Fire-Roasted Savory Salmon
Fire-Grilled Orange & Mustard Beef
with Fries and Infused Oregano Salad
Caramel and Mango Steamed Pudding
Cherry and Honey Doughnut
Drinks:
Water
Wine
Juices
Coffee and drinks in the open bar
Everyone started to eat and talk.
"So Lando how is everything in Bespin?" Leia asked while she was helping Iris by cutting her beef.
"So far is going well but we had some strange reports" Lando replied drinking his wine.
"What do you mean?" Wedge asked
"We got some reports of strange people in"
"Strange? What do you mean strange?" Han asked with a frown
"Apparently we got visits of a gentleman a few days ago. We get many people visiting the place but we got some reports that he was looking around, asking people some questions, especially about the time you were frozen in carbonite"
Han looked at him with a surprise look.
"About me?"
"Not about you but about that day. When Vader appeared and you were frozen in carbonite and the fight between Luke and Vader. Especially where it happened. Some people found strange and reported to me."
"Did you talk with that person?" Luke asked him
"I did when he arrived. He said his name was Fabio and he was just there for business purposes and he seems credible. So I never got any suspicious. Until some of my people started to get suspicious."
"Do you have cameras in there, right?" Ines told him
"Yes and that is what my people are doing, running every move from that guy from the day he arrived until the day he left" Lando nod. "Why? Do you think he was lying about his business?"
"And about his name as well" Han told him.
"We find out that empire is preparing something, and everything suspicious needs to be watch carefully, Lando." Leia informed her friend
"But why Bespin?" Lando asked them
"Well the empire was there. Maybe something left there by them" Wedge said
"If that was the case didn't Lando and his people already figure it out or something?" Prim asked to her husband
"Well we are checking every surveillance camera. If we find something we will report to the Senate, Leia."
"Please do".
The time passed and when everyone was finished their dessert, the band stopped playing and Admiral Ackbar came on stage and everyone stayed quiet and the Mon Calamari started to talk.
"Thank you all for coming. Today is a very important day for the galaxy. It is the day where freedom and democracy returned to our galaxy a year ago. A day that needs to be remembered forever, so our kids and grand kids know what we did for them and the many heroes that gave their lives for so many years and sadly they didn't have the chance to know we won. Today is a day of celebration. We have triumphed a year ago over villainy and oppression and have given our Alliance—and the galaxy beyond it—a chance to breathe and cheer for the progress in reclaiming our freedom from an Empire that robbed us of it.
A year ago, many heroes gave their lives for the cause, but we have heroes who are still between us today and I would like to thank them tonight.
First I will like to thank General Lando Calrissian and his co-pilot Nien Nunb, and their gunners Lieutenant Blount and Cracken and Red Leader Wedge Antilles for being the ones who entered the Death Star and shot the main reactor."
Everyone started to clap and to cheer at the three that stood up and thank the applause.
"Thank you for your courage. But we also need to thank to Gray Leader - Horton Salm, and Green Leader Arvel Crynyd. Please stand up"
Both leaders stood up and everyone clapped to them.
"But these heroes weren't be able to destroyed the Death Star if it wasn't from a courageous strike team that offered themselves to go the Moon of Endor to deactivated the shield of that Death Star, leading by General Han Solo."
Everyone clapped and Han nod a little embarrassed. He never liked to be the center of attentions.
"Also we can't forget that brave people who with General Solo flight the Imperial Shuttle, risking their lives while heading to Endor. So let's also give an applause to Chewbacca, Princess Leia Organa, Commander/Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker, and at the time Ines Talia"
Everyone applauded and cheered. Ben who was on his father's lap, grabbed his father's face when he heard his name and smiled making Luke smiled and kissed his cheeks.
"But also we need to thank Commander/Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker and Ines Talia, now Ines Skywalker, who were inside that second Death Star facing the Emperor and were responsible for his death"
Everyone cheered when Luke and Ines had to stand up, holding their baby, who giggled happily making everyone laughed at the baby reaction
"And to little Ben Skywalker that in a way participate in the Alliance as well since he was inside his mother during the confrontation inside that Death Star" Admiral Ackbar said laughing.
Once he heard his name, Ben giggled and looked at his father and grabbed his face smiling, making everyone laughed at the baby's behavior.
"So, today is a day of celebration and fun. So enjoy the first of many celebrations to come. Happy Freedom Day"
Everyone clapped and cheered.
