Hello! I noticed a few of you were re-reading the story and in this chapter you may find a few Easter eggs hehe
Charlotte seemed a lot more relaxed after opening up to her mothers, she seemed very happy with Ethan, too. He was very gentle and very fun to be around. Sometimes Sophie wanted him to be her boyfriend, and she wasn't shy about telling him that.
When Kira was already able to go on walks, the girls made sure to leash train her, try to get her to stop biting on the leash and they planned her walking schedule. Of course, Beca and Chloe said they had to be careful and in the beginning they wanted the girls to be with either of their mothers to take Kira on a walk.
Kira was closest to Sophie, the little puppy started following Sophie around everywhere, even in the bathroom. Sophie even put her in the pool and swam with her, then later would take her to her bathroom to give her a bath and clean her.
Beca got Kira a rainbow colored leash with a bone shaped name tag and her and Chloe's phone number on the back. Kira and Sophie were getting pretty famous on instagram, everytime Beca, Chloe or Charlotte posted a picture of them, everyone commented about how Kira's bright blue eyes matched Sophie's and how Kira was a doggy version of Sophie.
Beca had started a rule, saying everytime Ethan was sleeping over, Charlotte had to keep her door open during the day and they were not to lock it during the night. Charlotte was okay with this rule at first, but after a few weeks she started having problems with it, saying it was unfair, that it was an invasion of their privacy and it was an insult to Charlotte, like her mothers didn't trust her.
"Mom, come on, why can't we close the door during the day?" Charlotte asked her mother as they sat in the kitchen. "Ethan's coming over today, we need privacy!"
"Char, I'm sorry but you're still 16," Beca said.
"Come on, mom, it's not like we're gonna do anything!" Charlotte said. "It's just annoying having Sophie walk by and make a comment or think she can come in!"
"I'm not always home, Char," Sophie said as she walked by and grabbed two bananas, Kira following her.
"Stay the fuck out of it, Sophie!" Charlotte snapped but Sophie seemed unphased.
"Language!" Beca said.
"You owe me 50 cents!" Sophie said with a bright smile.
"50 cents?! It was only a quarter!" Charlotte complained.
"Inflation, ever heard about it?" Sophie said simply before walking out to the backyard, unpeeling one of the bananas and feeding it to Kira.
"Honey, you have to explain to Sophie that the open door doesn't mean 'come in', knocking is still very important."
"Come on! Is this a way for you and ma to control me?" Charlotte said. "Why am I being treated like a child?"
"You're definitely not being treated like a child, Char! You have a boyfriend, you're sexually active, your mom and I wanna take precautions," Beca explained. She was trying to keep her cool, but Charlotte seemed about ready to explode. Her teenage hormones were definitely getting the best of her.
"What do you think will happen, mom? Do you think I'm gonna get pregnant?" Charlotte asked.
"You know that's my biggest fear, Char," Beca said.
"Mom! I'm not gonna get pregnant, okay! I know what pills are, I know what a condom is! I'm not stupid, like you were! " Charlotte screamed.
And there was silence.
Beca just crossed her arms and tilted her head, looking at her teenage daughter's eyes.
Charlotte was holding her ground at first, but when she saw her mom's eyes fill with tears, she immediately regretted saying what she said.
"Mom-" she stepped closer and opened her arms to give her mom a hug but Beca rejected it and all but ran upstairs. Charlotte ran after her but Beca shut her bedroom door and locked it. The teenage brunette knocked and knocked, but Beca wouldn't open.
"Mom! Please, I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have said that! I've never regretted anything more in my life, please, come on out!" Charlotte said and waited. "Or let me in, mom, please!"
Charlotte's eyes filled with tears and she slid down the door and sat against it, crying with her head in her knees.
"Mom, please!" she tried again.
Leslie came out of her room and looked at her older sister, giving her a disapproving look.
"You shouldn't have said that," she said.
"I know, I just want mom to get out or let me in!" Charlotte said.
"I think you should give her some time," Leslie said.
Charlotte nodded and got up, going to her room. She threw herself on the bed and cried herself to sleep. She even texted Ethan not to come.
Sophie and Kira greeted Chloe as she came home that day, the little redhead had a bright smile and was still wearing her leotard, tights and flip flops.
"Hey, I thought your mom was gonna get dinner ready," Chloe said.
"I haven't seen mom in hours," Sophie shrugged.
"Where are Char and Leslie?" Chloe asked, putting her purse down and her shoes off.
"Upstairs in their rooms," Sophie said.
"I'll figure dinner out, go take a shower, Soph," Chloe said, going upstairs. She knocked on Leslie's door and the little one was reading. "Leslie, where's your mom and your sister?"
"Mom is in her bedroom, Char is hers," Leslie said.
Chloe then knocked on Charlotte's door and was impressed by how fast the door flew open. Charlotte's eyes were bloodshot and she seemed relieved to be opening the door but when she saw it was Chloe, she visibly became disappointed.
"I thought you were mom," she said, going back to her bed, grabbing her soaked pillow and burying her face on it.
"Char, what happened, why are you crying?" Chloe asked.
"I fucked up big time, ma," Charlotte turned to look at Chloe. "Big, big time, I don't think mom will ever forgive me. You have to go in there and see if she's okay!"
"Whoa, whoa, what happened?" Chloe asked.
"I was trying to get mom to let me close the door when Ethan came over, she said she was worried because I'm sexually active and she didn't want me to get pregnant," Charlotte said and Chloe nodded. "And I said I wouldn't because I'm not as stupid as mom was."
Chloe was taken aback and Charlotte nodded, crying harder.
"I know, I know!" Charlotte said. "You had to see her face, ma. I broke her. I don't ever want to see that again."
Chloe sighed.
"Now she won't even open the bedroom door, she won't answer me or the girls. You have to get in there and make sure she's okay, please, ma!" Charlotte said. "Please, I'm desperate!"
"Char, calm down, okay?" Chloe got up. "First of all, that rule is staying. Second, you know your mom wasn't stupid, contraceptive methods aren't 100% effective."
"I know, I was just mad! I didn't mean any of that!" Charlotte said. "I just wanna apologize. Please go see if she's okay!"
"I'll be right back, go grab a glass of water before you give yourself a panic attack," Chloe said, standing up.
Charlotte went downstairs and poured herself a glass of water, downing it in one go. She took a deep breath and poured herself another glass before Chloe showed up.
"So?" Charlotte asked.
"She wouldn't let me in, she just asked for some time," Chloe said.
Charlotte started crying again and Chloe grabbed her by the shoulders.
"Listen to me, calm down, Char, I know you feel bad and you're worried about your mom, just give her time, okay?" Chloe said. Charlotte wiped her nose with the back of her hand. "Do you want me to give you something to calm down?"
Charlotte nodded, wiping her eyes. Chloe nodded and got the electric kettle going to make some tea, then picked out a bag of chamomile and a mug as she waited for the water to boil.
"I ordered a pizza," she announced.
"What kind?" Charlotte asked, shaking from the sobbing and the crying.
"Peperoni," Chloe said. "Like Sophie would let me choose another kind of pizza."
Charlotte didn't even chuckle and Chloe sighed before turning to her.
"Charlotte, I'm serious, calm down, okay?" she said. "Your mom needs time and so do you, try to get some sleep and please stop crying, you're gonna give yourself a headache."
Charlotte sighed and wiped her eyes again, sniffing, only to find her nose was stuffed from the crying.
"I should take a shower," she said.
"Yeah, go and I'll bring your tea," Chloe said. "And a slice or two of pizza."
"I'm not hungry," Charlotte said, hugging herself, as if it had suddenly gotten cold.
"I didn't ask," Chloe said and shot her daughter a smile. Charlotte tried a smile before leaving to take a shower.
The teenager threw herself on her bed after her shower and closed her eyes, pinching the bridge of her nose when she felt the migraine coming. Sometimes she thought her ma was some sort of witch.
Chloe came in, followed by Leslie. The two were bringing Char her pizza, tea and a glass of water.
"I brought Advil, I imagined you had a headache," Chloe said.
"You imagined right," Charlotte said. "I can't stand any sort of light."
"Well, get something in your stomach," Chloe said.
"I'll try," Charlotte said.
"Your sisters and I will be downstairs if you need us," Chloe said.
Charlotte nodded, not being able to open her eyes.
"Can you get me an ice pack for my head?" she asked.
"I'll have Sophie or Leslie bring you in a minute," Chloe nodded.
And the two were gone. Leslie came back soon to bring her an ice pack before returning to eat with her mother and sister. The three were rather quiet, Chloe was worried about both Charlotte and Beca. She knew Beca had horrible migraines, she had them when she was pregnant with Charlotte, so she knew what the teenager would be dealing with.
Sure enough, Charlotte started throwing up an hour after her migraine started and she puked for a good portion of the night. Chloe slept in her room because the girl was in a lot of pain. She couldn't help but remember when that same thing happened to Beca. Of course, back then she didn't even know Beca was pregnant.
Chloe was so thankful the next day was a Saturday, so when she woke up, Charlotte was still asleep, so she got herself up and down to the kitchen. She looked out the backyard and saw Sophie feeding Kira before sitting down to watch her eat.
"Sophie! Come eat your breakfast, Nikki will be here soon to take you to dance!" Chloe said.
"I'll be right there, mamma!" Sophie said.
Chloe smiled, starting breakfast. She loved how responsible Sophie was being with Kira, even with her busy schedule. The bigger redhead got out a few eggs from the fridge, the orange juice, milk and butter when Sophie came back in, closing the sliding door.
"Honey, did you see Leslie?" she asked.
"She was in her room. Reading, like always," Sophie said. "Little Leslie is a nerd."
"Sophie, it's not nice to say that about your sister," Chloe said.
"I didn't mean that in a bad way, mamma," Sophie said. "It's good that she's a nerd, Leslie will probably have a great future."
Chloe was surprised at hearing that and she smiled.
"You're right. Like all of you girls will," she said. "Go get yourself ready for dance and have Leslie come down."
Sophie nodded and ran back upstairs. Leslie came down and helped Chloe set the table. She knew Charlotte probably wouldn't be up anytime soon, so it was probably her and the two little ones. She didn't know if Beca was coming down, she hadn't talked to her much last night, since Charlotte took up her night. It felt like having a baby all over again, except she had to pull the teenager's hair back so she would puke. It was past 4 when Charlotte finally managed to fall asleep.
"Mamma, have you talked to mommy?" Leslie asked.
"I haven't. Charlotte had a major migraine last night, I had to stay with her," Chloe said.
"Is Char alright?"
"She is, baby, she just needs sleep and something to eat as soon as she wakes up," Chloe said.
"Want me to see if mommy is okay too?" Leslie asked.
"Honey, maybe we should let your mom sleep, she might've been as bad as Char last night," Chloe said.
"Okay," Leslie said. "But shouldn't we at least check?"
"I will, as soon as we eat breakfast," Chloe said.
Sophie came down wearing a red leotard, pink tights, jean shorts and flip flops.
"Mamma, want to leave some soup for Char's lunch?" Leslie asked as Chloe and Sophie sat down to eat breakfast.
"Sure, maybe after you and I walk Kira we can do that," Chloe said.
"Great," Leslie said.
"Soup? But it's really hot out today, mamma," Sophie said, drinking her orange juice.
"I know but Char threw up a lot last night, her stomach might still be a little sensitive," Chloe said. "Soup is better for digestion."
"Pizza is too, we have leftovers," Sophie said with a smile.
"Pizza isn't that good for digestion, baby, it has a lot of fat," Chloe chuckled and Sophie narrowed her eyes.
"Don't speak ill of pizza," she whispered, which made Chloe and Leslie laugh.
"If you want, you can take some leftover pizza for your rehearsal," Chloe said.
"Can I?!" Sophie grinned brightly.
"Sure, I'll just put it in a doggy bag," Chloe said.
"Great!"
Pretty soon after they finished breakfast, Leslie and Sophie helped put everything in the dishwasher and Chloe put some slices of pizza in a lunch bag for Sophie and left it with her dance bag. Nikki picked Sophie up to take to dance and Chloe and Leslie were off to walk Kira.
After they were back, they got started on Charlotte's soup. Chloe was teaching Leslie how to peel potatoes, the little one was even wearing an apron.
"Can we add some rice to it?" Leslie asked
"We can add some noodles and make like pho," Chloe said. "Well, pho wannabe."
"Morning,"
The two cooks turned to see Charlotte taking a seat, rubbing her eyes. Her very puffy eyes. Kira started licking her and wagging her tail.
"Hey Char, how do you feel?" Chloe asked.
"My eyes feel like they're drier than the Sahara desert," Charlotte said. "And I feel like I've been run over by a truck."
"Oh, baby, sorry to hear that, but your soup is almost ready," Chloe said.
"Great, I'm starving," Charlotte said and yawned.
"Other than that, do you feel better?" Chloe asked.
"A little," Charlotte said, petting Kira.
"That's an improvement," Chloe said.
Charlotte crossed her arms on the table and put her head on it, yawning again. Chloe didn't complain, she knew the girl was probably pretty tired.
"Ma?" Charlotte asked.
"Yeah?"
"How can you be so nice to me after what I said to mom?" Charlotte asked.
"Because, believe it or not, I love you, and I can see you felt terrible, there's no need to make you feel worse," Chloe said.
Charlotte chuckled.
"I can see why mom married you, you're an angel," Charlotte said.
Chloe smiled.
"Thanks, honey," Chloe said. "I do it all because I love you."
"I love you more," Charlotte said. "Thank you for taking care of me last night."
"You're welcome, honey," Chloe said, turning back to the soup.
Charlotte buried her face in her arms again, trying to get some more rest.
"Morning,"
The three shot their heads to the door to see Beca standing there, looking pretty much identical to Charlotte, which told Chloe she had gone through pretty much the same thing as their daughter.
Of course, the first one to hug Beca was Charlotte, and she began crying again.
"I'm so sorry, mom! I'm so sorry!" she said through her cries. "I never meant a word, I swear!"
Beca hugged Charlotte tight before letting go and the teenager pulled apart. The older brunette cupped her face, wiping her tears with her thumbs.
"I know you didn't," she said.
"I was so worried, mom, I never want to see you cry again," Charlotte said.
"It's okay," Beca said. "And for the record I don't like seeing you cry either, so stop."
Charlotte chuckled before wiping her eyes.
"I know you weren't stupid, you're just looking out for me," Charlotte said.
"Thanks," Beca said.
"Sit down you two, get some food in your systems before you disintegrate," Chloe said, putting the soup on the table. "And Char, stop crying before you give yourself another migraine."
"You're right, I don't want that," Charlotte said as she sat down.
"You had a migraine last night?" Beca asked.
"Yeah, from crying," Charlotte said. Beca placed her hand on her arm and rubbed it affectionately.
"You're period is due, isn't it?" she asked.
"What? Yeah, why? How did you know?" Charlotte asked.
"Well, you couldn't be more like me if you tried. Your mood yesterday, plus the migraine? Period," Beca said.
Charlotte groaned.
"I'm definitely not excited about going through puberty," Leslie said, making the other three laugh. "Especially knowing I came from you, mom."
"You've got my genes too, baby, which means you have a 50% chance of escaping that," Chloe said. "And let's hope you do because Sophie and I can't be outnumbered."
"You and Sophie? What makes you think Sophie won't be like that?" Beca asked.
"Mommy, are you kidding? Lil So So will probably fly when she gets her period," Leslie said, making the others laugh once again.
"That's true, though," Charlotte said. "Ma, 10 bucks Sophie will be ecstatic the day she gets her period."
"I can't bet on that, I wouldn't say otherwise," Chloe said and the others laughed.
"You know, I bet Sophie will be very hot when she grows up," Charlotte said.
"Your ma said the same thing years ago about you," Beca said.
"She's not wrong, is she?" Charlotte wiggled her brows and Beca gave her a look.
"Am I a bad mom if I don't voice my agreement?" Beca asked.
"No,"
"Good,"
Chloe smiled as she watched the two brunettes interact, glad to see they were both back to normal. She knew they'd be okay. They were way too similar, unfortunately, so they just needed time.
For those wondering what the Easter eggs were:
1) in Chapter 2, Beca has a migraine and Chloe took her to her and Aubrey's place to help her
2) somewhere in the story when Char is little, Chloe mentions to Beca she thinks the girl will be very hot when she grows up and Beca freaks out hahahaha (I would mention the chapter if I knew which one it was lol)
