Bernadette brought the gang together. She got Leonard and Penny together.
As a struggling microbiology major, she has a part time job in the Cheesecake Factory where she is friends with a freshman college student and a part time waitress as she, Penny.
While the two are doing their shift, Bernadette's boyfriend, Howard, and his friends hangout at the restaurant to wait for her. After noticing the blatant crush of Leonard on Penny, she got the two together.
Now, she shares the plan to the gang about her next target. Sheldon and Amy.
She met Amy on a Biology Club and eventually became her friend. The frequent invitation to Amy on her and Penny's Girl Night gradually became permanent. Thus, the gang grew bigger.
Sheldon and Amy's more similar than the two would like to admit. They share the same aversion when it comes to physical contact and being socially inept. Bernadette felt giddy getting her two friends together. Unsurprisingly, the rest of the gang are in agreement.
