Season 5: Beginning of the Invasion

Episode 20 (81): Chrysalis invites Thomas

The war with the Steam Team, resistance & the changeling army has been a long one, but ultimately, the resistance and the Steam Team proved to be victorious. At the castle, Chrysalis was upset of the fact that her army failed to take out the resistance for good, but one of her changelings offered a new plan, offered a peace treaty to Thomas, and have them go about their business, and the changelings could capture Sunset to make Thomas vulnerable, to which Chrysalis likes. The changelings were hard at work creating a message potion that'll have her message to Thomas ready. Chrysalis arrives to check in on the progress.

Queen Chrysalis: How's the potion coming along?

Changeling #1: It's coming along nicely, and we'll have some changelings go to the resistance, find Thomas, give him the message and bring him to you.

Queen Chrysalis: Excellent. Keep up the good work, and when the time is right, I'll kill him in cold blood. (Laughs evilly)

Whatever the changelings are up to, we can already tell it isn't good. Meanwhile, in the resistance, life is going very well, with the changeling army gone, the Elders now have one major objective: expelling the changelings and Chrysalis from Canterlot castle. While they work on the issue, everyone is doing their normal things and the Steam Team helped out as well. Meanwhile, in the hotel room, one couple is sleeping peacefully, but when the morning starts, Thomas woke up as he yawned and stretched his wings, but gets an unexpected surprise when he got a kiss on his nose. He looked and saw it was Sunset Shimmer.

Sunset Shimmer: (Giggles) Hello cutie.

Thomas: Well then, good morning sweetie.

Sunset Shimmer: How is my sweet little prince doing?

Thomas: Well, judging from that little kiss you gave me to start the morning, this is gonna be an interesting morning.

Sunset Shimmer: It might, (Rubs her hoof against his cheek) I just can't stop staring at you, my little cutie.

Thomas: (Blushes) Aww, thanks Sunset, you're just too sweet.

Thomas brought his wings out, wrapped around Sunset and pushed her closer to him, Sunset responded with a blush as she stares at her boyfriend.

Sunset Shimmer: I love you Thomas my sweet prince.

Thomas: I love you too Sunset my sweet princess.

Sunset giggled and kissed him on the lips, the two exchange in a sweet make out session. The kiss lasted for a minute until they parted and looked at each other lovingly.

Sunset Shimmer: Should we join our friends and join the fun Tommy.

Thomas: More than anything Sunny.

Sunset giggled and gave him one final kiss on the nose, before they left the room to join the others. Thomas and Sunset could see his friends having fun, Gordon and Rainbow doing some loop-to-loop tricks, Percy and Pinkie are having some cupcake samples, Starlight and Spike hanging around with Emily, Nia & Rebecca, Applejack teaching Toby how to speak like a cowboy and using a lasso, Henry and Fluttershy playing with Angel, James and Rarity talking about fashion and Twilight talking with Thomas about Gold Dust with Lady as well. The Young 6 also joined in as well

Sunset Shimmer: (Chuckles) I'm seeing that all of you are enjoying yourselves.

Princess Twilight: You have no idea Sunset, with the changeling army out of the picture, all that leaves is Chrysalis, and Equestria will be free of her terror.

Lady: I'm sure the Steam Team will be there to stop her.

James: You darn right, that bug queen ain't got nothing against the Steam Team.

Emily: Although it won't be easy, much like with some of the other fights we've had to deal with.

Henry: From Diesel and his flunkies, Timothy the Ghost Engine and to Midnight Sparkle, these villains are not gonna be easy.

Sandbar: He's right, even though these villains are deadly enough as it is, they can never match their teamwork.

Smolder: I know they won't stop at nothing to get what they want, but can't they just say they admit defeat, I mean come on already!

Rebecca: You know they won't give up without a fight. Even if we're down fighting, we always get back up.

Yona: Yona believes Steam Team will pull through, Yona knows this.

Pony Rainbow: Trust the Steam Team, they've got this in the bag.

Pony AJ: I have faith in them. Any situation they can get out of, they'll do in a jiffy.

Percy: Aww, that's nice of you guys, you really have that much faith in us.

Pony Flutters: We do, and we wanna see you at your very best, no matter what it takes.

Pony Rarity: Fluttershy's right darling, you've truly shown that you're a team match made in heaven.

Spike: I'll say, you guys killed it back there.

Pony Pinkie: Oh yeah, the way you went boom, then you went pow, then you went kablam, then you went wapow, then you went….

Gallus: We get the picture Pinkie, thanks.

Silverstream: Still it was so amazing, watching them fight.

Ocellus: Yes, especially Thomas showing his awesome power.

Nia: I agree Ocellus, Thomas has shown that he's not just a leader, but a powerful one at that.

Canterlot Guard #1: Changelings!

They turned to see castle guards pointing their spears at the door as it showed a group of changeling brutes and three changelings. The Steam Team were quick to go into their fighting stances as the Pony 6 and Young 6 went behind them.

Toby: I thought we finished them.

Edward: From the looks of it, these changelings might be stationed from the castle.

Gordon: Wherever they came from, let's finish them!

Changeling #1: Before you knock yourselves out, I wanna let you know, I come in peace.

Emily: Come again?

Changeling #1: I came here to deliver a message to Thomas.

Thomas: What sort of message.

Changeling #1: I'm not the one to tell you, but this will.

He threw a message potion at a nearby water bucket, as it puffed out and showed Queen Chrysalis.

Queen Chrysalis: (Laughs evilly) Well, we meet again Steam Team, especially you Thomas.

Thomas: What is it that you want Chrysalis, you've lost your army, your conquest is over, so why don't you come over and surrender peacefully.

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles) Oh Thomas, always try to be the direct one. But I have something much more than my attempts at conquest.

Thomas: What is it?

Queen Chrysalis: I've enacted a peace treaty with just you Thomas, I won't resume my attempts to conquer Equestria, but I'm willing to invite you over to Canterlot castle. I'll even provide you with the necessary things to make you more comfortable while we talk. No trickery, no magic, just a simple conversation. When you make your decision, my changelings will escort you to the castle. I can assure you I won't try to double-cross you. I'll expect an answer from my changelings when you do. (Chuckles quietly) Don't be late.

The potion dissipated as they're faced with a decision.

Changeling #1: I'll let you think things through.

James: You kidding, we will never hand Thomas over to Chrysalis.

Gordon: If you try it, we will stop you.

Thomas: Stand down Gordon, I'm going.

The others exclaimed over Thomas' decision.

Sunset Shimmer: What?! Surely you can't be serious Thomas!

Thomas: There's no other option, I'm going.

James: Alright you number one numbskull, I've had enough of you getting into these dangerous situations.

Thomas: That's not true at all, it's my job to protect my friends, no matter what it takes.

James: Well for your information, we can sometimes take care of ourselves, without you!

He roughly pokes him in the nose with his hoof. Thomas enraged by the pain, he tackles James as a dust cloud forms in their fight. The others really think this is getting too old and out of hand while the changelings can only watch as they fight it amongst themselves.

Changeling #1: (Chuckles) I like it when they fight each other.

As they fought, Edward and Sunset use their magic to separate the two, while Gordon holds James in place and Percy holds Thomas in place.

Percy: Thomas, I'm sorry buddy, but you're beef with James needs to stop right now.

Thomas: Let me at him Percy.

Sunset Shimmer: This is getting ridiculous, your battles with James are meaningless. We need everyone in this together, and that doesn't mean you guys fighting each other. Not anymore!

Edward: Sunset's right, your squabbles and rivalries with Thomas must stop James, time after time, you're always getting in his grill and that has our team taking the brunt of your conflicts, they must stop now!

They eventually release their magic hold on Thomas and James.

Sunset Shimmer: Thomas, there has to be another way. I don't want to lose you again, I've lost you too many times, even those memories of your fight with Adagio is one I don't want to relive. Please Thomas, don't go.

Thomas: (Sighs) I appreciate your concern Sunset, but I can assure you that this is a completely different situation, besides it's just a talk.

Sunset Shimmer: I know, but still. I'm worried for you.

Thomas: Don't worry sweetie, (puts his hoof under her chin to look at him) this won't take long I promise. And that goes for all of you as well, it won't be long, and I'll be fine. You all can trust me.

Sunset knows that this'll be hard, but she's gotta support her boyfriend, so she wrapped her hooves around his neck in a sweet hug and Thomas does the same. After the hug, she gave him a kiss to his cheek. Thomas' friends know that this isn't much for discussion, they know Thomas is right, and they must respect his decision.

Sunset Shimmer: Please, be careful.

Thomas: I will Sunset, I'll be back before you know it.

Edward: We'll support you Thomas, even though it might be hard to accept, but we're supporting you Thomas.

Thomas: Thank you Edward. I'll miss you guys, but I'll be back.

Changeling #1: So, have you made your decision.

Thomas: I'm going. Take me to Chrysalis.

Changeling #1: A wise decision, right this way.

So Thomas began to walk away from his friends, he took one final look at them, before he continues walking towards the changelings, the bugs took one final look, before they left. Meanwhile, Percy is crying in tears knowing he might not see his best friend again and hugged Sunset tight. Sunset saw how Percy is feeling, so she wrapped her hoof around him and stroked her hoof along his mane.

Sunset Shimmer: There, there Percy, it's gonna be okay, Thomas will be back as soon as possible. (Thoughts) I hope, but I also don't trust this, I'm going to that castle, find Thomas and get him out, whatever means necessary.

The changelings and Thomas flew towards the castle, as they're flying, the changelings try teasing him.

Changeling #1: (Sarcastically) How great this appointment with Chrysalis will go. (Chuckles)

Thomas: It's gonna be quick and simple, and hopefully her and your kind will leave Equestria alone.

Changeling #2: (Laughs) Oh really, for one thing, you can't stop us, you're outnumbered, you can take all of us on.

Changeling Brute #1: And another thing, you think you can save all of Equestria, but we all know, you'll fall in no time.

Thomas: (Thoughts) I have a bad feeling about this already.

Changeling #1: You think you're this world's savior, but you're just a runt with no purpose.

Thomas: Hey, I do have a purpose, and I will accomplish what needs to be done, by stopping you.

Changeling #2: (Chuckles) We shall see.

So as they fly to the castle, they lower down and landed and walked over to the entrance and that's where Chrysalis is, standing in the middle of the hallway. She watched sadistically as the changelings bring Thomas to her.

Queen Chrysalis: Ah Thomas, so nice of you to join us.

Thomas: Well, the feeling's not as mutual.

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles lightly) I know you don't trust me Thomas, but I can assure you that I've come peacefully.

Thomas: Hmm, we shall see.

The other changelings aren't taking their royal highness seriously with her acting innocent.

Queen Chrysalis: Now my changelings, I want you to leave us, we've got some business to attend to.

Changeling #1: Aww, why do we have to sit this one out.

Queen Chrysalis: You should know better than to disobey me, leave now or suffer the consequences!

Changeling #1: Y-Y-Yes your majesty.

So they fly away from Chrysalis and Thomas.

Queen Chrysalis: Ugh, the nerve of them, let's go somewhere else quietly for a change.

Thomas: Too right, but I'm still keeping an eye on you.

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles) I can assure you Thomas, I won't be a danger to you. Now then, allow me to show some generosity to you and open the door for you.

She used her magic to open the door to allow Thomas inside.

Thomas: Uhh thanks.

So Thomas walks through the door and Chrysalis followed. They went into a room where Thomas saw two chairs and a table with tea and crumpets for them to be comfortable.

Thomas: I don't understand, you're offering me refreshments and some food?

Queen Chrysalis: Why I'm being generous to you, if we wanna talk, the best that I can do is make you feel comfortable.

Thomas: Uhh thanks, I don't know what to say.

Meanwhile, at the resistance, Sunset is looking out at the entrance towards Canterlot castle in the distance, with the rest of the Steam Team accompanying her. Celestia was watching them, and decided to walk towards them.

Princess Celestia: You're worried about Thomas, aren't you?

Sunset Shimmer: Yes, I am Celestia, I'm worried something bad is about to happen to him, and I don't want that to happen.

Princess Celestia: I know, we're all worried about him Sunset, but we must not lose hope. He can hold his own without worry.

Sunset Shimmer: I know, but what if this all a trap. What if Thomas was Chrysalis' target all along? There has to be something we can do.

Princess Celestia: Hmm, that's most troubling. But most of our forces are already spent. If they're back in the battlefield, they won't have enough energy to fight.

Sunset Shimmer: I know what I must do. Hang on Thomas, I'm coming for you!

Sunset raced out of the base as she raced off to the castle.

Edward: Sunset wait!

Princess Celestia: You guys go after her, she might need backup. I'll let the Pillars and the Princesses know about this. I hope you guys can stop Chrysalis for good, she's more trouble than I thought.

Edward: Don't worry Celestia, we'll stop Chrysalis whatever it takes. Steam Team, roll out!

The Steam Team raced off after Sunset, while Gordon and James contemplate on Edward leading the charge.

Gordon: I still can't get over Edward leading the team while Thomas is absent.

James: Let's not question that, we've already been through enough scrapes and I don't want to be the punching bag, let's get going.

Gordon: Right behind you!

So as the Steam Team and Sunset raced to the castle, Thomas and Chrysalis were drinking tea and snacking on the crumpets.

Thomas: Chrysalis?

Queen Chrysalis: Yes, Thomas.

Thomas: Why are you acting like this?

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles) Oh Thomas, this is no act my friend. I'm being really honest with myself. Since you're a special guest, I thought I should treat you with the upmost hospitality. Thus, I gave you some refreshments to make you more comfortable.

Thomas: Well, I don't know what to say, I thought you will try to take the opportunity to kill me, but you didn't. (Drinks his tea)

Queen Chrysalis: I would never take advantage on killing you, I enacted this peace treaty so that way we can patch things up between us.

Thomas: I see, well, I thank you for inviting me over here Chrysalis, even if we don't see eye to eye.

Queen Chrysalis: That's perfectly fine Thomas. So, since we've begun speaking, let me ask you this, where did you and your friends come from.

Thomas: Well, my friends and I originated from a different world, in an island known as Sodor. It's where we live, work and make sure that it's in tip top shape. We have a lot of friends there, and a few that try to stop us, but we make sure they are put in their place.

Queen Chrysalis: Hmm, must be hard trying to keep tabs on those guys, must've been bad knowing they have their own agendas on how they do things.

Thomas: You're not wrong there, the most notorious villain on our island is Diesel 10.

Queen Chrysalis: Hmm, who is this Diesel 10?

Thomas: He was the most powerful villain on Sodor, obsessed with gaining power and magic. He once tried to gain the power of Gold Dust, that's what powers not just one of my special friends Lady, but a very special railroad that keeps our island alive, the Magic Railroad. So, to stop him from getting it, I have to stop him.

Queen Chrysalis: Hmm, interesting. (Thoughts) This Diesel 10 guy seems mighty powerful, when I get rid of the Steam Team, I'll pay a visit to him.

Thomas: And he's not the only one that we have to stop as well.

Queen Chrysalis: Who were the others?

Thomas: Well, there was Diesel and his band, they've been causing trouble almost every minute. Sailor John, a dangerous pirate whose obsessed with treasure and even tried to blow me up on one occasion.

Queen Chrysalis: Oh my, those scoundrels really have been giving you guys grief to no end.

Thomas: Too right, though my scariest and possibly my worst rival next to Diesel 10, was my late brother Timothy.

Queen Chrysalis: Never knew you had a brother.

Thomas: Me neither, but I never want him to be my brother in the first place, from what I know, he once had a good heart, but after months of abuse, he had it and decided to turn to the dark side, and take his own life to haunt Sodor as a ghost.

Queen Chrysalis: That must be frightening.

Thomas: It was, and he even tried possessing me, albeit a success. But that wasn't my first time I had a trip in the dark side.

Queen Chrysalis: Oh really, what was the second one.

Thomas: I somehow was manipulated into evil by someone called Midnight Sparkle, and she transformed me into a being known as Nemesis Thomas. (Sighs) That's one moment I really don't want to relive ever again, the fact I nearly hurt my close friends in getting the Staff of Darkness.

Queen Chrysalis: Oh, I never knew that. It must've been hard to hear that.

Thomas: It is, but we managed to defeat Midnight in her home dimension and destroy the Staff of Darkness.

Queen Chrysalis: Well that's good to hear. Taking her down will hopefully take away her chances at taking control of you.

Thomas: Thank you Chrysalis. (Drinks his tea)

Queen Chrysalis: (Thoughts) Hmm, so he's acceptable to being angry and being manipulated into being evil. I don't have that power, but I can take him down at his most vulnerable. (Chuckles quietly)

Meanwhile, Sunset is sneaking her way through the castle trying to find Thomas. She looked at the guard guarding the door.

Sunset Shimmer: (Whispers) Don't worry Thomas, I'll get you out of there.

So Sunset being quiet and sneaky made her way to the door, she then used her magic and bashed the handle of her sword at the changeling's head knocking it out. She quietly opened the door and raced inside. As she traversed through the hallway, she tries to figure out where Thomas is.

Sunset Shimmer: (Whispers) Now where did she take Thomas, they could be anywhere in this castle.

She then stops and spots two changelings coming down the hallway and knew she had to hide, so she hid behind a pillar as the changelings went their separate ways in the halls. As one heads down the hall Sunset came in, so she grabs it and punched it to knock it out. Sunset got out of her hiding place and raced away. She suddenly stops it and sees two changelings guarding another hallway. She has to think smart, so she magic blasts one, which knocks it out and grabbed the second and beat it up until its unconscious. Sunset panted a sigh of relief after her takedown to the two guards.

Sunset Shimmer: (Panting) This just doesn't want to go any easier, but it's worth it. If it means saving my boyfriend from the tyranny of a bug queen, then it's totally worth it. I don't want to lose him anymore.

So she raced away leaving a trail of bodies behind. Meanwhile, Thomas and Chrysalis were still relaxing in the break room until Chrysalis used her magic to set her tea cup down on the table.

Queen Chrysalis: Thomas, could you do me a favor.

Thomas: What's that?

Queen Chrysalis: I want you to go to the throne room, I'll meet you there in due time, I just got a few things I need to take care of, nothing world-conquering wise I can assure you.

Thomas: Umm, sure I guess.

So Thomas sets his tea cup down on the table and leaves the break room as he heads to the throne room. When he's gone, Chrysalis leaves right after Thomas and when she's out of the break room, some changelings walked up to her.

Queen Chrysalis: What's been going on in my absence.

Changeling #1: While you were chatting with Equestria's protector, some of the changelings have seen some signs of orange roaming around the castle. We think it might be Sunset Shimmer.

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles quietly) So, Thomas' girl comes in to rescue him. Well, we'll make sure that won't happen. I want you to find her, capture her and bring her to the throne room, and we'll watch the magic happen when I take down Thomas right in front of her. You make sure you do that and don't screw it up.

Changeling #1: We won't your excellency.

Queen Chrysalis: Good, (Chuckles evilly) Thomas my friend, you're in for a world of hurt when I'm done with you.

As the changelings enact their plan, the rest of the Steam Team were making their way to Canterlot castle. They stop right at the entrance of the castle when they see the body of the changeling that was guarding it.

Percy: Edward, is Thomas going to be okay, along with Sunset, I'm really worried.

Emily: It's okay Percy, we're all worried for them.

Edward: Rest assured Percy, they'll be fine, they've gotten out of bigger scrapes than this, so I'm sure they're perfectly fine.

Gordon: Well, not as the time we're all defeated by Chrysalis.

Rebecca: I hate to agree with Gordon, but he's right, Chrysalis has managed to singlehandedly defeat every one of us, even with our powers.

Henry: With that, how can we defeat her?

Toby: That was a one-time event.

James: Yeah, a one-time event that that bug pony defeated us like we're nothing.

Edward: Guys, now's not the time. We need to be strong and work together in order to stop Chrysalis, whatever it takes.

The Steam Team knew that Edward is right, they need to keep pushing forward, in order for them to achieve their mission.

Gordon: You're right, we need to be together for this, no matter what it takes, let's go safe the world.

Edward: You're right Gordon, come on everyone!

So the Steam Team raced inside the castle as they follow the trail of bodies left behind by Sunset. Speaking of Sunset, she is still trying to find Thomas, until 6 changeling brutes surround her.

Changeling Brute #1: (Chuckles evilly) Well, what do we have here, a stowaway, the queen said she'll be here as she hoped.

Changeling Brute #2: Well, here she is mate, let's bring her to the throne room.

Sunset Shimmer: You're gonna have to go through me to get to me.

Changeling Brute #3: We shall see, dogpile her boys.

One brute lunged for her back and she jumped back as the brute was slammed into the wall by Sunset's force, another lunged for but was stopped by Sunset's sword as she kicked it in the stomach and was sent back. Another tried a charge attack at Sunset, but she sidestepped and kicked its head which caused him to stumble and fall. That's when two brutes managed to restrain her by shooting goo ensnaring her legs and dogpiling on her to prevent her from escaping, leaving one brute to look at her.

Changeling Brute #1: (Chuckles) Well done boys, you got her.

Changeling General: What's going on here?

Changeling Brute #1: Boss, we found this unicorn Chrysalis requested for us to find.

Changeling General: Excellent work my friend, bring her to the throne room, and then the real fun begins. I'll have my friends check them out for the next mission. Let's go!

Sunset Shimmer: Why are you taking me to the throne room.

Changeling General: Why do we have to tell you, it'll ruin the surprise, besides you're gonna like it. (Chuckles slyly)

So they dragged Sunset with them towards the throne room. Thomas arrived at the entrance of the throne room, and with his magic, opened the door and walked right in.

Thomas: I know Chrysalis told me to meet up at the throne room, though where is she. Probably still needed to take care of things, although I can't really call her taking care of things while in Canterlot castle anything good.

That's when Chrysalis teleported in.

Queen Chrysalis: Ah Thomas, so nice to see you. You recognized these thrones right.

Thomas: Yeah, those thrones belong to Celestia and Luna, though I still don't understand why you conquered the castle with the princess' throne, when you already have a hive of your own.

Queen Chrysalis: Yes, you are right on that. My behavior has been on the questionable side, and all I ever wanted was to expand my hive, and just feast on the love the ponies have, to make my changelings powerful.

Thomas: Yes, though you could've done something good instead of evil. I always see people and many creatures getting a second chance if they've done something wrong. I can see you having that second chance.

Queen Chrysalis: You-You really think so?

Thomas: I know so.

Sunset Shimmer: Let go of me!

Thomas recognized that voice and saw in his wide eyes, two changeling brutes with a changeling general right beside them with Sunset in their grasps. While she was talking with Thomas, Chrysalis had her eyes closed and head drooped down, but when he saw Sunset being brought here. She opened one of her eyes and made an evil smirk until blasting Thomas back with her magic, and enveloped the door, to which she closed it to not let anyone in. Thomas was on the ground after being blasted as he sat up with a surprised look on his face.

Queen Chrysalis: (Laughs evilly)

Sunset Shimmer: Thomas it's a trap!

Thomas: Chrysalis why?

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles) Did you really think I'll be that nice when I let you in. Oh no, I brought you in as a ploy to not just capture your pretty girlfriend, but to finally take my revenge on the Steam Team for ruining my conquest of Equestria, but since the rest of your pathetic friends aren't here for me to relish my hatred and see them destroyed, you'll do nicely. But I've gotten a taste of your power, and I want to finish you off, once and for all. And when I'm done with you, I'll find this Sodor and take its power to expand my conquest. (Chuckles) Won't that be sweet?

This made Thomas very mad, not just of the fact that Chrysalis had kidnapped Sunset and held her hostage, but Chrysalis lied to him, faking that she enacted that peace treaty just to talk to him and faking that she was innocent and turned good. And even went ahead and threatening to kill his friends and take over all of Sodor, now Thomas sees there's no redemption for Chrysalis and decided to defeat her once and for all, by firing a beam of gold from his horn at Chrysalis, sending her skidding across the ground. Chrysalis smirked knowing this will be an interesting final battle and Thomas got up, ready to fight.
