Chapter 87 – End of the day
Later that day, everyone had dinner in Luke and Ines's apartment, including Lando, who accepted the invitation.
At the moment they had finished the meal and were sitting in the living room, while Iris was sitting on the floor with baby Ben, who had raise himself on this knees and hands and were bouncing up and down until he got tired and lay on his tummy again, making his cousin laughed at the baby, which made him babble at her.
"I can't believe he is this size already" Lando said smiling at the scene.
"They grow too fast I'm telling you. It looked like it was yesterday that he was born and now he already can support himself on his arms while he is on his tummy." Luke smiled at his son who was again doing his favorite thing, doing noises with his lips, which made him drool a lot.
"Time flies my friend. Soon this little one is running around the Jedi Temple and you can't catch him" Han laughed
"Don't even talk about that" Luke laughed too.
Leia and Ines came with some cookies and drinks and sat down near Han and Luke.
"Lando can you show me the images you got from my brother. I want to know" Ines looked at him and he nod.
"I knew you would want to see them, so I brought just in case" and putting the little device on top of the table and images of Ines brother appeared.
They could see him walking around through the city, but a day later the images show him looking around, watching places that he clearly shouldn't be and the last image it show him in the carbonite freezer chamber, and the same corridor and place where Luke fought his father 2 years ago, which made Luke frown and looked at Ines. The image went black.
"This is what we got from him." Lando told looking at them.
Ben started to get upset to be on his tummy for so long, and started to pout and then to whimp, making Ines picking him from the floor and sat him on her lap, making the baby, rest his head on her mother chest, sucking the wing of his X-Wing toy, happy to be on his mother lap.
"What was he doing in that chamber?" Leia asked.
"The question what he was looking from there?" Han looked at her. "Do you have something value for the Empire in those chambers?" he asked while putting Iris on his lap, stroking her brown hair.
Lando looked at them and shrugged
"Apart from the freezing chambers we don't have nothing that is so important for them"
Ines looked at Luke, who was silence.
"Babe, you know something. It was there you fought with Vader"
Luke looked her and stroke his son brown hair, who was looking at him with his equal blue eyes.
"I'm not entire sure what he was looking for but…" he started
"But?" Leia looked at her brother
"My brother in law was exactly the spot where I jumped after Vader cut my hand"
Ines looked at Luke and gasped
"Do you think the Empire is looking for it?"
"It is the only thing I can think off"
Han looked at them
"Hello can you explain what the hell are you talking about?"
Ines and Luke looked at them
"My old lightsaber. I was holding it when my hand was cut off. It is the only explanation I have and the only reason he was there looking around."
"But we didn't find any lightsaber Luke" Lando told him
"Maybe because someone already found it first?" Leia spoke making everything look at her.
"The question is who? One of ours or the Empire" Ines replied
"There is another big problem." Luke said making everyone looked at him "If the Empire is looking for my old lightsaber, it means they can be looking for another one"
"Another one!" Lando asked
"I also cut Vader's hand holding his lightsaber back in the second death star."
"But then it exploded, so it must be destroyed" Han said
"Or it had time to land in Endor." Ines spoke
Leia stood in silence for a while
"Then we need to watch careful any activity that happens there. Tomorrow I will speak with the Senate about it. If there is any suspicious activity there I will warn you guys"
Looking at her daughter who was already sleep on Han's lap she smiled
"I think this is the cue for us to leave" Han told her and standing up, he pick his sleeping daughter.
"See you tomorrow" Leia told hugging Luke and Ines and kiss her nephew who smile at her. "I see someone his not sleepy tonight"
"Wait until he gets his tummy full" Ines giggled at her baby.
"See you tomorrow" Luke said and shaking Lando's hand he looked at him "Thanks for everything"
"No need to thank me Luke" Lando smiled and hugging Ines they left the apartment.
Later that night:
Ines was kissing her baby's tummy making sounds on it, making Ben babble and smiled, grabbing her head.
"Who is my little love?" she spoke looking at her son's eyes. She loved her baby's blue eyes. He had the same type of blue as his father. Smiling at him, she grabbed his little feet and kissed it, making the baby laughed. "I'm going to eat these little feet" she laughed. "I love you my sweet baby" she said and kissed his chubby cheeks.
Hearing his son's laughs Luke entered in the room, while Ines was putting Ben's pajamas.
"Someone is very active tonight" he said walking towards them and smile at his son, who babble at his father. "What is it?" he asked and kissed his cheeks.
Once he was all dress up, Ines picked him up and hold him up on her arms, while Luke wrapped his arms behind her and rub his nose on his son, who smile extend his little right hand and grabbed his father left cheek.
"Aren't you sleepy tonight little fella?" he asked him.
"Because he didn't have his meal yet, right?" Ines looked at her son and laughed when their baby started to grabbed her nightgown and tried to pull down indicating he want his meal. "See? Okay hold on mister" she giggled and sitting down on the little couch in her son's bedroom, she lay Ben on her arms and pulling the strap of her nightgown, she smiled when her son reached her left breast and started sucking, showing he was hungry. Even with 6 months old, she decided as long as she had milk and he wanted, she would breastfeed him in the morning and before bed.
Luke sat on the little boy's bed looking at her.
"How are you feeling?" he asked her, even if knew the answer already.
"Relieve and shocked and sad" she said looking at him. "I know it is not the same thing when you found out about your father but having a brother that worked for the empire it is sad. And he allowed our family to be killed." she looked at her baby "Our baby nephew" she sighed letting the tears followed down her face, making Luke stand up and pulled her into her arms.
"Cry babe, it helps" he said kissing the top of head.
"I'm sad but I'm angry at him. Why? And he didn't want me to leave. He want me dead Luke. I didn't get it back then, I thought he was concerned, typical big brother, but no, now I know, he didn't want me to leave because he wanted me dead."
"What he didn't know was you had the force on your side all this time and we should never go against the force. The force was pulling us together and it did" Luke told her stroking her hair.
After finishing feeding her baby, who already started to close his eyes, they lay him slowly on his crib and covering him, they said their goodnight, leaving R2 inside as always.
As they lay in bed, Luke pulled her closer to him, wrapping his right arm around her waist, while they intertwine their legs. Ines was looking at him running her left fingers on his blond hair.
"I liked to see you in that black outfit" he told her making her laugh
"Figure" she said kissing him
"Also, that guy Wrein, he had feelings for you"
Ines looked at him
"What? How do you know that? Wrein was a good friend that's all"
"For you, but he saw you more than just a friend and he wanted to tell you that back in Tatooine before you left the ship"
Ines looked at him in silence. She never saw anything that indicate that from him. Looking at Luke she smiled
"Do you think he survived?"
"I'm pretty sure he did. Why?" he asked
"I wonder if more people survived. Especially people that I knew. That's all" she said "Are you jealous Luke Skywalker"
Luke rolled on his back and didn't say anything
"You are jealous" she laughed and rolled on top of him and made him look at her "Luke, you don't need to be jealous. You know there is only one guy in this galaxy that I belong. A very cool guy"
"Who?"
"Well he is gorgeous, he has the most beautiful blue eyes and blond hair, but he is kind, gentle, nice, strong and powerful, the most amazing husband and father that I could ever have in my life. So I'm sorry for Wrein but if we ever see each other again, and if he continues to have feelings for me, which I doubt, my heart already belongs to that guy" she smiled looking down at him and leaning down she kissed him. "Understood Skywalker?"
Smiling he wrapped his arms around her and turn them around making him on top of her making her laugh.
"Really?"
"Really!"
"Good" he smiled "I love you"
"I love you too" she said and they kissed deeply, knowing that their love for each other was strong and forever.
