***Gepard 2-1***
"All units be aware, villagers have engaged friendly forces and are deemed hostile, you are cleared to engage!" A voice said into the radio.
"Gepard 2-1 copies, assaulting now." The vehicle commander said.
Gepard, also known as Cheetah in english, is the callsign for some of the StuH squadrons, though the Quincies usually utilized their callsign in some german, even if the callname was english they did retain some of their Germanic names as the Quincies was proud of being linked to anything Germanic, so the numbers were always said in German, so this was essentially a StuH with the callsign Gepard zwei-ein, the lead StuH for Gepard 2-2, 2-3, 2-4 and 2-5 before the first number changed to 3, or Drei.
"Gunner, clear a path for our infantry to pull back, aim at the villagers and fire at will, driver, forwards!" The commander ordered.
The gunner took aim in the periscope to the howitzer and aimed it in, it did still have some slight turn capabilities along with it's elevation due to the build up, this was to avoid having the StuH constantly fine adjust with it's tracks, as for the forwards command, in combat, the speed was usually in five quick order categories unless a specific command was issued.
These categories were in Reverse, Stop, Slow, Forwards and Fast, reverse was probably self explainatory and it wasn't as fast in reverse as it was forwards, despite being directly track controlled by two levers on the sides of the drivers seat, because of this there wasn't any need for a reverse gear on the gearbox as forwards and reverse was controlled by the two levers controlling the two tracks, the Stop command is also self explainatory.
Slow was usually a speed that went forwards in about 10 km/h, and Forwards was usually about 30 km/h and fast was pedal to the metal and force out every horse and pony inside the engine, as for it's gearbox though unlike it's counterpart it wasn't manual transmission, but automatic with partial manual, as it was controlled by buttons on a panel rather then a gear lever which functioned as a switch, resulting in a total of six buttons.
The gearbox itself was a 12 gear gearbox, with three of the gears in manual, namely 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, and then there was the D for drive, which put the StuH in gear, N for neutral which disconnected the gearbox and P for park, which connected and locked the gearbox, though they would mostly use the D function as the manual gears was for problematic terrain where the gearbox would shift often and a lot of strain put on it, it wouldn't move fast in 1st to 3rd gear but atleast it wouldn't damage or destroy the gearbox, so the manual was just an emergency solution in case they got bogged down, additionally as it wouldn't move fast, the tracks wouldn't spin too much either, helping them avoid getting more stuck, although automatic transmission wasn't uncommon in the Quincy military, they used it on every ground vehicle they had actually.
The gearbox was connected to four additional boxes which was connected to four large gear wheels on the outside, namely two in front and two in back which caused the tracks to move, inside them was even more gears, the gearbox was connected to a single gear on the inside, which was movable, and that gear was also connected to the control levers that the drivers used to control the tracks, of course they utilized synchronized gears, rather then unsynchronized to make controlling the vehicle a lot easier and faster and the gears didn't scream for mercy everytime the gears changed.
Of course this explanation is just an oversimplified version of how the StuH moves around and how it actually operates, as it's construction was far more advanced and complicated then that, additionally, the crew wore vehicle helmets with microphones to speak to one another with ease as the vehicle was very loud inside, also known as the vehicle helmet, this was to protect their heads aswell should the ride become bumpy and they might risk banging their head into something hard and sharp for instance, which would really suck.
They didn't wear gas masks but had it in their equipment belts should they ever need the goggles, mask and barret, this was because the vehicle itself was airtight once the hatches was sealed and it could be considered it's own world, this was because of a legimiate threat of chemical attacks or hazardous environments, resulting in the StuH having it's own air filter and oxygen generator which utilized reishi in case of hazardous environments, this allowed it to operate at almost any enviroment it encountered.
Regardless let's get back to the battle.
As 2-1 fired, the shell flew rapidly towards the villagers, it missed them by chance and hit the edge of a building, but the shockwave still injured and killed parts of the villagers, but it was evident that they had aimed too high, and revealed the threat of a blue on blue incident should they aim too wrongly as they got closer, also known as friendly fire, and the last thing they needed was to hit their own, especially if it was an already badly beaten and bruised regiment hanging on by a thread.
They needed to be careful on where they aimed as they drove down, infantry right behind them, the mob had opted to disperse at the sight of reinforcements, running into their homes to hide or whatever, but that did not stop the infantry from attacking the villagers.
Several infantrymen fired their rifles right into the fleeing crowd, and they just kept firing and before anyone knew it, the ground was getting soaked in blood and bodies of dead villagers, by this point the Gotei had also gotten words of this... Treachery... And they saw it for themselves as the 3rd, 6th, 10th and 13th divisions appeared after the Quincy vanguard along with the main force.
The howitzer artillery much further away had zeroed in on the Dominion lines however, as they were deemed the biggest threat of all for obvious reasons.
"All units, load HEAP and focus on the Dominion vehicles, they're the biggest threat." The commander said into a handheld radio connected to the vehicle as he began to change from HE to HEAP casing.
The cannon had one special lever however which was located on the left side, the gunner sat on the right side of the vehicle and the commander on the left, this was a safety lever that disabled the gun, allowing the commander to approach the gun safely, as soon as the safety was on, he pulled the breech lever to open it up, resulting in the edge of the casing coming out automatically, so he took it, put it in place and loaded a HEAP casing before closing the breech and turning the safety off.
"Gun ready, fire at will." The commander said.
"Copy, firing at will." The gunner said.
"Vehicle stop! This is a good distance, we'll attack them from here." The commander ordered as the driver pushed in the brakes and the cannon fired.
The shell this time hit one Dominion cannon vehicle right into the drivers cabin, resulting in it blowing up as the HEAP shell exploded after entering, the explosion knocked the crew off the vehicle and damaged the ray cannon severly.
"Nice sho- *Bam, Klang*" The commander said before a blast was heard and the whole StuH shook.
A ray cannon hit them, plain and simple, though the armor absorbed the impact and did it's job, it was definitely noticable as the klang later was caused by the blast itself, and boy was it loud, resulting in the ears of the crew ringing, this was a drawback to the coffin buildup the Wandenreich used as the interior was isolated when the hatches was sealed, resulting in the soundwaves having nowhere to go, resulting in an immense echo that, if bad enough, could actually disorient the crew or stun them, resulting in the vehicle itself becoming immobile.
Though the research division had already anticipated this, resulting in the headset on the vehicle helmets also functioning as ear protectors, the hit was pretty damn loud, so even while having ear protectors, their ears still ringed, so it did say a lot on how severe this blast was, but it wasn't enough to pierce their armor, but then again their front was facing the enemy, and the front was the most armored part of the vehicle, and therefore the most protected part, the StuHs biggest weakpoint was it's rear as it was designed to face the enemy, not turn it's ass on them, but also the radiator which cooled the engine was located on the rear aswell, so it couldn't be as tightly sealed or armored because of the necessity for air intake to cool the radiator and to allow the fuel to ignite in the engine.
"Everybody alright?" The commander asked.
"Yeah." The gunner replied, trying to shake off the ringing.
"I'm fine." The driver replied, scratching his helmet around the ear.
"Son of a bitch... It's fresh out of the damn factory... It just got a FUCKING paint job and those bastards have probably scratched the paint and dented it!" The commander said clearly angry, causing the gunner to laugh.
"Stop laughing and shoot the fucking bastards!" The commander yelled out in fury, by now it was clear that the driver was holding in his laughter.
"Gepard 2-1, making smoke!" The commander said as he reached for the commanders panel.
The smoke generator had two switches, one which was protected with a cover and one two point switch, the switch behind the cover was the master arm switch for the smoke system, which gave power and charged up the canister launchers and the generator, the commander had before the battle started flipped that switch to on before the first shot was fired and then closed the lid again to ensure that the switch didn't fall down by accident or something, when the switch was flipped and the smoke system was ready, a green light would light up on the panel saying System Armed to verify that the smoke system was active so you didn't need to see the location of the switch to know.
The second switch was as mentioned a two point switch with one function, you could manually hold the switch in the center to let out smoke but if you let the switch go, the generator would stop making smoke, or you could flip it all the way up and it would stay in place and constantly create smoke, the switch was located right next to a cover protecting a specific button, on that cover it said Launcher which was the cover to protect the launcher button to the canister launchers.
The reason for the cover on the launcher button was because the canisters had to be manually reloaded and that could take a few moments, so you didn't really want to waste the canisters needlessly, additionally the canister launchers, if you had it, could also be loaded with chemical weapons aswell, which was another reason on why it was protected, after all if you had weaponized the canister launchers, you definitely didn't want to push the button by mistake, especially if it contained nerve gas or even worse, a gas that tore the soul to pieces without breathing it in, which is definitely very very painful, and yes a gas like that did exist and yes the Wandenreich did possess it and yes it could be put in canisters and put on vehicles with canister launchers before you ask!
There were three words for deploying smoke or canisters, the smoke generator was Making Smoke, the smoke canisters were Deploying Smoke and if the canisters were loaded with gas then it was Deploying Gas, but it all depended on what the canisters were loaded with for the deploy word.
As soon as the switch was flipped, the smoke started to pour out from four pipes at the rear of the vehicle, two pointing backwards and two point out on each side, though on the outside it appeared as it came out of the armor, the smoke was modified in the generator to hide reiatsu presences and to hide from view aswell to ensure that the soldiers and the vehicles were difficult to spot, but the vehicles possessed the periscopes with infrared sights, so it wasn't a problem for them as they could see through it and fire inside it, although it made it harder to distinguish between friend and foe if you were unaware of the positions of friendly and enemy troops.
***Infantry Section 2***
Infantry section two, one of the eight sections of the reinforcing force, they had opted to utilize sections and split up the force that way, it was an easier method for the force commander to control the entire force efficently in this manner, then the section commander controlled the units inside the section.
The infantry used their rifles to fire, they were about 970 meters away from the fullbring forces and was now engaging in long range combat, just 30 meters away from the range limit of the reishi bullet, the Dominion cannons was also engaging them at a range, and some small rays were coming towards them but they were clearly stretched thin and barely capable of reaching them, the biggest concern was the cannons.
However the Quincies also had some problems, because while their rifles was within range, barely anyone used a rifle scope, so they were using iron sights, while firing at an enemy about 970 meters away, and naturally, at that range, the enemy appeared very very small, so hitting something was not exactly easy at that range, and there was no way the Gotei would be able to just charge in with their Zanpakutos, they needed long range kido spells that wouldn't cause a blue on blue incident.
Additionally, licht regen was out of the question, at this range, licht regen would cause the heilig pfeil to copy itself over and over, however that would be very risky as it would be an extreme danger close as the spread would be massive at this range and the odds of hitting 5th regiment was big, so this limited their capabilities in the field, but atleast the MG was more accurate then the Ginrei Kojaku bow at a distance, so they utilized it as best they could.
Amongst the vehicles present was the amphibious transports aswell that had been loaded off the ships to carry troops along with trucks, the trucks themselves did have a hatch on the top in the drivers cabin to put an MG42 if needed, but the trucks weren't designed for front line combat so it was best to leave them out of it, but the StuHs and the amphibious transports did possess MG42s, and the amphibious transports had already engaged with their two top side MGs.
The soldiers kept firing and recharging their rifles with reishi rounds, despite the original Mauser rifle which was bolt action, the Quincy copy of it was semi automatic and could fire after being recharged, so it's rate of fire could be compared to that of G43, or Gewehr 43 if the user was skilled enough, and the military did possess enough training to get to that level, although it wasn't as rapid fire as the SMG or MG42, it still did the job and allowed more control as the reishi explosion inside the chamber from the casing did cause recoil, just like any other explosion or blast.
Whilst the infantry fired at any small target in the distance that appeared to move, 5th regiment was pulling backwards into the village, trying to break past it and rejoin with the reinforcements, causing them to break engagement completely as they pulled back, but they were carrying the wounded which was slowing down their retreat, and then the situation got even worse for the infantry, as Gepard 2-1 was making smoke, making it harder to see.
"Gepard 2-1, the hell are you doing? Stop making smoke, we can barely see the enemy for crying out loud!" The section commander said into a phone radio using a radio operator.
"Copy, ceasing to make smoke!" Gepard 2-1 replied.
"Keep on the attack! Shoot anything that moves, and if it appears to be standing up, you still shoot it until you're sure it isn't standing up anymore!" One of the commanders said into the ear radio.
Many of the Quincy soldiers had proned down or crouched down to make aiming a lot easier, by crouching or lying down it was much easier to stabilize the rifle and get a much more accurate shot as the arm would rest and stabilize against the leg or the ground, and as a bonus, this also made them harder to hit as they became smaller targets, though some had opted to fire while standing.
"All units, fire and advance on my mark! We'll close the gap between us and support 5th regiment at a closer range, we'll use speed to get to them as quickly as possible, so hope you are in shape!" The section commander said.
The soldiers prepared to fire and advance, this was a pretty much standard tactic, as it involved closing the gap between the enemy and yourself, to explain it, the soldiers would advance or move towards the enemy while firing, of course it had it's draw backs as soldiers on the move had less accuracy with ranged weapons due to the movements of the body, but it worked to pin the enemy down if utilized correctly, the best method to utilize this tactic was to have the soldiers move at the same time while firing independently at any target, a volley could work but it was too predictable, as volley fire meant that the soldiers would fire at the same time, allowing the enemy to calculate when the next volley would arrive, letting them slip in a few shots themselves, so independent fire was the best course of action.
However there was a small problem however... A little itty bitty tiny problem... Alright screw it, it was a very big problem, because the Quincies and the Dominion had one thing in common... And what was that thing they had in common? Well let's find out.
"Mark!" The section commander said as the section started to move.
The Dominion however still possessed not only their cannon vehicles... But also their crystal MGs who just saw the sections begin to move rapidly, all nicely lined up, so naturally, they opened fire on the advancing sections, spraying down the Quincy lines with their crystal MG, causing several Quincies to just fall dead on the ground.
"Damn it, stop the advance and hit the dirt NOW!" The force commander ordered quickly as he saw that this was just a death sentence.
The soldier quickly jumped down on the ground, making them harder targets for the crystal MGs, but the crystal MGs had already opened fire, but the rays could be backtraced and that was utilized by snipers, MG42s and StuHs alike, so they began to blast away, except the snipers who was taking their sweet time aiming before firing.
One of the snipers had a gunner in his sights, he just saw that red uniform and blonde hair of a female right in his scope, squeezing the trigger, the rifle eventually fired, and after a short while, that female had a hole from a reishi bullet going straight into the frontal lobe of the brain, causing the female to fall instantly dead right on the ground while the man besides her just stood there stunned, taking in what had just happened before he manned the crystal MG, only to get a reishi bullet right in the right eye a short while later, leaving the shrapnel from the shattered reishi bullet to destroy the frontal and temporal lobe of the brain.
The Quincies kept firing at the distance they had, having gotten closer to the enemy, they were now much more visible, but still difficult to hit, regardless the Quincies kept up the attack, they had lost some soldiers even before the attempted advance, but nothing serious at all, some casualties was to be expected, eventually the Inks arrived, and used their abilities on the fullbring forces while staying over the Quincy lines, and as expected, their abilities functioned best as a ground support role.
After a brief moment however, the fullbring forces gave up and decided to retreat, evidently wanting to cut their losses as their vehicles began to reverse, infantry following close behind, but that didn't stop the Quincies from continuing to engage them, as they wanted to cause a maximum amount of damage on the hostile force before they got away, and there would be no time to chase them down as they would stop at this village, and then they needed to firmly secure it.
"Cease fire! Cease fire!" An officer yelled out as soldat after soldat stopped firing, by this point the fullbringers had pulled back far enough that the rifles were out of range.
But that did not stop what happened next, because the artillery was still in range, and the rocket artillery had also reloaded, and the artillerymen had calculated the range, distance and time of arrival and fired, as many rockets appeared in the air, hitting the fullbringers dead on, and whilst that did took it's toll on them, it was nowhere near enough to destroy the unit but atleast it was a proper farewell present.
As the village needed to be secured, Kyoraku ordered the Gotei forces to move back and link up with the other divisions that was still en route but was a bit further away, of course no one understood this order, additionally Wing Bind was to support them as the Quincies had their own aerial units, but Bambietta had given the Quincy forces the order to secure the village at all costs.
And this is where things began to get really messy, because the orders were to capture the village, but there was no order on what to do with the civilians that had turned to the Dominion cause, and the spiritual world had no such thing as a geneva convention or rules of war, furthermore the military laws of the Wandenreich only stated on how to act towards fellow soldiers or allied soldier, but it was very vague on how to act when handling civilians loyal to enemy forces, if anything the military laws didn't even have a single paragraph with so much as a word that even mentioned civilians loyal to the enemy.
Bambietta had ordered them to secure the village using whatever means possible, and that's exactly what they did as they began to move down towards the village to rejoin with the 5th regiment and to secure it.
As the soldiers approached the village, it was dead quiet, everybody had hidden in their homes and locked the doors, whether it was because they realized they had screwed up or out of fear, it was hard to say, why they even attacked the allied forces to begin with was unclear at this point but instead of liquifying the village completely, the Quincies decided to detain as many as possible for questioning later.
Fifth Regiment HQ
A small unit approached the village in their brand new field car, it was designed as a vehicle capable of handling rough terrain, which was only natural, and not only that but this was probably one of the most expensive cars in the entire empire, if we were to convert the price to U.S dollars I'd say it has about 10 million dollars in purchasing costs, and that price is equal to that of an expensive sports car, and just to mention, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin sold the vast majority of their super cars for less then that price, just to compare, and the Wandenreich was making thousands of these at this point.
It was outfitted with the most advanced assistance technology in the field, carrying canister launchers on the top, each canister launcher had space for four cansiters each, and there were two of them, aiming at 90, 75, 45, and 25 degrees respectively, which would cover the vehicle at a near 180 degrees in the front in smoke or gas, they also had a smoke generator built into the engine compartment to assist in the field.
The car was also armored to protect against spiritual attacks with the same special materials as front line vehicles were, and it was also made to be air tight to protect against chemical weapons as long as the air intake was on recycle, once it was, nothing could get into the car at all as long as the top hatch wasn't open and such capabilities did cost a lot to build as the materials needed were special and it couldn't be made out of seki-seki either as it would affect the troops inside.
Additionally it also possessed a manifestation device with a total of five functions on two two point switches and one one point switch, two of the functions that went to one switch was to the hatch, which manifested an attachment for an MG42, the second flip would manifest a shield aswell to protect the soldier, allowing for more offensive capabilities, the reason they had this system was because the shield made it harder to properly attach the MG as it kinda got in the way, and there was also the possibility that the shield wasn't needed in some situations.
The second switch was also attached to two functions on the device, which manifested a wall with a cage that seperated the rear from the four seats in the middle and front as it was an eight seater but could carry nine soldiers if not more, if you count the floor and the gunner hatch, the seats in the trunk was foldable so usually this wall and cage could stop anything from sliding through the car whenever they had to make a quick stop for whatever reason, however the second function of the switch manifested a special plastic glass in case they should transport prisoners, additionally this glass also happened to be sound proof and protected the soldiers from being spat on or attacked in any manner, including annoying screaming prisoners, so that was quite handy, the rear doors could be locked and the handles disconnected by flipping a lock switch on the drivers side so it was hard to escape from this car as it was armored and everything.
Not surprisingly, the lock switch was also two point, hold it up in the middle to unlock the rear doors, and let go again and switch will fall into lock position again, which made it easier to just put the prisoners in and just lock the door and no more worry about them escaping or something, and it saves the driver from explaining to the commander, why the prisoners escaped because he forgot to lock the door, which could quickly happen, really, and full up was constant unlocked, which was best used for cargo transport.
The fifth function was the one point switch, which was probably one of the most important ones, because the two others involved transportation and firepower, so naturally this one was the defensive one, because the windows were capable of protecting against certain attacks, and the car had three windows, a front window to see where you go, and the driver and the seat besides the driver also had windows, but the four rear doors didn't have any, regardless, the windows were also screens attached to small cameras on the top of the car that covered the entire front and the front sides.
This was because the last switch manifested shields around the windows that completely covered the windows, prohibiting any outside view, and that was a benefit as it would give more armor, but also a downside because... Well... It was impossible to see outside the car, and driving with the door open in a battlefield was probably not a wise idea, so they attached some very very small cameras on the top close to the roof, just above the shields where the glass on the windows could function as screens, allowing the soldiers to see outside the vehicle and be protected at the same time, the cameras were extremly small and you had to get very close to see them, like just 10 centimeters away close to see them and even then they would appear as small dots, and because of the size and the technology required to make these cameras, they were extremly expensive, and so was the glass.
Additionally it was a multi purpose car for any military branch, so behind the armor on specific parts of the car was a special plate, which was connected to a touch screen inside the cabin on the drivers side where the navigation was located, these plates didn't manifest physical objects but letters and whisked them out aswell as signs, in total five plates was attached to the vehicle, one on the hood, two on the top of the wall where the trunk was located on each side, one on the roof and one on the left side rear door, this meant that they didn't need a complete repaint in case a vehicle got transfered, though the letters and signs were already programmed into it's computer system so all the soldiers had to do was to push the logo and the letters they wanted as it was all pre-programmed, so that saves the Wandenreich a complete repaint of certain parts of the car aswell, though every vehicle had the same logo and word written underneath, as it was a silver five pointed star with black letters underneath saying Royal Army, though the vehicle was mostly white, it did have some black color to it's bottom parts.
behind the left canister launcher was four bolts, attaching a four pointed cross shaped bracket that also covered a socket, the reason they had this was because they could mount a rod that was connected to a light spinner which could function as a light signal that spun around, the spinner was usually in a metal cover which you took off and put on the glass you needed, which was easily detachable and attachable, which in the car was either blue or orange, depending on the need, it also had a speaker and a siren attached to it, though the siren could be switched on by a switch in the fuse box and activated by the same switch that turned on the spinner as it was a two point switch aswell, normally the siren switch was off, and since blue was the color of law enforcement, it essentially made it into an armored emergency car used by the military, this was a much easier option and a cheaper option then to have to build several models with just the flasher and siren attached to some, or they could use orange and function as a lead car for heavy or wide truck loads and clear a path for military trucks with wide or heavy loads.
The vehicle also possessed a radio device, the talking device attached to it could be connected to the speaker or the radio itself depending on which button you pushed on the radio panel, however the radio panel was actually connected to a device similar to the phone radio, allowing them to contact any unit inside the military without a radio operator with just a few buttons, though for them this was a necessity to have as you never knew when you would need it, it could also be connected to specific channels and frequency and function as a regular Quincy mask radio too if needed.
Also, the car possessed powerful a twin turbo V8 engine, which gave it quite a kick, but then again the car weighed about 14 tons, but surprisingly it still possessed a top speed of 170 km/h or 105 mph, which made it very fast considering it's purpose and weight, and with a top notch suspension designed for extremly rought terrain and to provide comfort for the soldiers so they didn't have back problems or bang their heads against the roof everytime a bump came and specially made wheels designed to withstand even a spiritual minefield alongside the armor of the car, additionally the vehicle also had a winch on back just in case they needed it, the wire was manifested, giving it quite the range as the winch would only create more wire, and it also could be attached with a towbar at the rear, as the vehicle was quite tall, it had steps on the sides and the rear doors to enter, but a towbar could be attached to the rear step to allow the car to attach a trailer, it also had four hook points to attach a hook, two in rear and two in front.
This car which was called the K-29N Sentinel Armored Charger or just Sentinel for short, the K in the K-29N stood for Kreutzgruppe, who was a private manufacturer in the Wandenreich who took on jobs for the Quincy military and government and worked in close relations with the research division and was actually the designer of the vehicle, the research division backed their decision and that's how they got their funding to make it, and the Sentinel would soon become the pride of their company, and the Sentinel woul soon be the workhorse of the infantry and one of the backbones of the Quincy military, and it was designed to be as reliable as you could get.
And truth to be told, if you had a dirt bike and tried to escape law enforcement and this car was chasing you, you could just give up, this car could essentially go anywhere with it's rear, front and four wheel drive, depending on what the driver needed, though it wasn't amphibious as there wasn't space to put the ballast tanks or propellers, it could still chase you down in all sorts of terrain, even heavily forested areas, so you'd be easier off by just giving up if this ever appeared flashing blue on you.
Additionally, this vehicle was naturally made to withstand just about anything in it's environement, for instance if you had something made to destroy electronics, as there was a bit of electronics on the car like a massive EMP bomb, or anything hazardous, this car was designed to take it on, as the Kreutzgruppe made this vehicle with a post-apocolyptic world in mind, so it was designed to take on what would essentially even be the apocolypse with fair ease, though it has yet to be tested in such a world, hopefully it wouldn't come to that, but if it did, this was the car you definitely wanted to have by your side to escape danger.
Funnily enough though, the key was connected to the main battery and what was known as a key stopper which was connected to the engine, as the car had two engine stoppers, in short the key was the main power switch and the switch to deactive the key starter which allowed the engine to start, as this was an anti-theft system, the ignition was connected to a single switch besides the starter and then you had, again, a two point switch that went sideways, which said start and stop the start side went to the starter and the stop went to the engine stopper connected to the switch, and that's how you started the car, additionally there wasn't any keys made to the car as the military used a universal key for all their vehicles, which was manifested by a cross, making it extremly hard for anyone to steal the vehicles as the key had to be manifested in the perfect manner and it had a unique appearance which made it even harder to manifest perfectly, and also the keyhole was slightly hidden behind a key cover aswell so you would have to search for it if you didn't know where it was.
A total of two soldiers and one medic entered the house where they noticed the female the fifth regiment was talking about.
"This her?" A soldat asked.
"Yeah, she ain't talkative though, all we know is that her name is Irisviel." A fifth regiment soldat replied.
"Alright, we got her from here." The soldat replied as he approached the female.
"Hello, my name is Erik, I'll be taking you to the beach where you'll be transported to Fort Cardinal before being taken to the Quincy capital city of Silbern for medical treatment, is there anywhere it hurts in particular?" The soldat asked.
The female just sat there, looking at the wall with completely dead eyes, not even acknowledging the appearance of more soldiers.
"The hell happened to her?" Another soldat asked.
"No idea, I know someone was executed besides her but we're not sure if it is related, the captain never mentioned anything, she appears to be in a state of shock." A fifth regiment soldat stated.
"No, there is more to the story here, this is more then just shock, she's appears to have completely given up." The medic stated.
"How bad is this fullbring world?.." A soldat asked.
"Good question, we'll hopefully find out soon enough, for now let's get her to the car, you're coming with us?" The soldat who was the driver asked the fifth regiment soldiers.
"Yeah, those are our orders." A fifth regiment soldat replied.
"Alright, let's go." The driver said as they began to head out.
World of the Living (Outskirts of Taipei, Taiwan)
As the Quincy military was fighting on the eastern front, the central front was mostly left to the paladins, the only military units they had was those stationed in Japan at this point, as most spiritual military forces focused on the eastern front, the world of the living was left mostly with minor skirmishes between units the size of fireteams, namely 2-4 people.
The Wandenreich prioritized Europe and Asia, deploying their paladins to the respective continents, though due to the small sizes of battles, it wasn't uncommon for the paladins to convert themselves from reishi and mask their reiatsu and use public transportation between the continents, usually airlines such as Qatar Airways and Emirates and so forth, though they always changed to civilian clothing and removed their Paladin clothing when traveling, this made it difficult to seperate them from living people as they blended in with the living.
Some odd source of reiatsu and magic was detected by the Royal Order of Holy Paladins stationed at Fort Karakura, and while it got their interest and curiosity, it didn't appear as anything dangerous so Leonikt decided it wasn't worth bothering Ichigo about, though he did contact Tessai at the Urahara Shop who became involved and arrived at fort Karakura, the Quincy command center in the world of the living, naturally they deployed a scanner, which was the drone the Wandenreich has used ever since Ichigo took the helm, and it was actually more used then people believed, but their camouflage capability made them hard to notice.
But when the scanner drone arrived, it encountered a round barrier about 500 meters of the landscape, which wasn't really that much, they tried to utilize several camera functions to see and listen through, the scanner was made to be able to peek through barriers, but this one stood out in particular, as the scanner was unable to look through it, of course the scanners were made with scanning and analyzation capabilities of magic and spiritual abilities, but the problem was that the scanner always came up with an error everytime it tried on the screens.
Of course the Quincies thought that the drone might have malfunctioned so they ran a quick diagnostics test of it, which it was capable off, only to get a message saying that all systems are green and no errors, malfunctions or failures were detected, so they assumed the whole scanner was broken, so they sent it back to the fortress and deployed another one, only to get the same exact message.
Wondering if they did something wrong, they took forth the most holy book there is, the one book that holds all the secrets of the universe, the one book who can help a man understand a woman, the one book that was so holy, it could never be touched but yet the one book everyone should read but never does! The holiest of all the holy books, the one book who shines so brightly whenever you just look at it!
It was... The user manual! And in as it the Quincies and Tessai basked in it's infinite wisdom of which it proudly shared, it gave them the knowledge they sought, as it proudly and brilliantly told them... Call the guy!
So one angry call, one user manul in the trash and a team of two paladins deployed later and here we are.
"So this is the spot?" The first paladin asked.
"Yup, if I recall correctly the scanner is still here somewhere... Ah there it is." The second paladin said as he noticed the flying scanner moving towards them, having removed it's camouflage and appeared in a silver color.
"Alright, so the scanner is found, now we just gotta find that barrier right?" The first paladin asked.
"Yup." The second paladin said as he did something.
He crouched down and put his finger on the ground, before closing his eyes in a sense of deep focus, until he opened them up again and looked in a specific direction.
"23 meters that way." The second paladin said as they both began to move.
As they walked the very short distance, namely just about 20 steps, the got to the barrier and quickly noticed that it was a rather unusual barrier, leaving them to wonder what the hell was going on here, regardless the first paladin, at the orders of Tessai, had took out a grimoire from his equipment belt and turned to a page where he had drawn a circle with several runes around it.
It was a drawn Quincy spell that utilized the Protection tree of Quincy magic, as this spell essentially sealed whatever was needed to be sealed, and protection specializes in defensive magic, and defensive magic was essentially magic that put up shields, barriers and seals.
This spell which was known in english as Sieben Magische Siegel, or Seven Magical Seals in english, was single high tier Protection magic spell utilized by the Quincy protection paladins to seal away people, objects or spiritual and magical abilities that had already taken shape, like barriers or something like that, this was actually a spell you had to practice a lot for in order to use, even if you are an echt Quincy as it was a very complicated seal and the spell was very difficult to use for even the most decently trained in Quincy magic.
But that wasn't a problem for paladins as every paladin could utilize protection magic, that was after all the purpose with the Royal Order of Holy Paladins, aswell as to give the Wandenreich some extensive magical capabilities along with a powerful and terrifying military force.
Regardless, the paladin took his grimoire, and aimed the palm of his hand right at the barrier, causing a circle filled with dark markings and lines to appear around the entire barrier and then the paladin did said some sort of incantation quite lowly, causing the spell to activate as the markings and lines began to glow blue and a hand appeared out of the grimoire which grabbed the barrier, causing it to become visible to the paladins before the seal in the grimoire began to suck it in.
The process took a little while as it wasn't exactly an express spell which did things instantly, and naturally as the barrier was being absorbed towards the grimoire, the opposite side of the barrier vanished first, but despite being sucked in, the barrier still held it's circular shape, but the barrier was atleast visible, and it looked almost like a mirror as the paladins saw reflections of themselves, though slightly distorted due to it being sucked in.
After a few moments the barrier was sucked in, and a marking appeared in the grimoire inside the circle, which itself was a common rune that signified Sealed as it was glowing red and smoking, even the runes drawn inside had changed into lines and moved into the Seal rune to further amplify the seal.
However, once the barrier vanished, a lot of questions appeared, as the paladins were stunned at what they saw in front of them, as the scanner watched the whole ordeal, even Tessai and Leonikt was surprised as they watched from Japan, they did expect something to appear but nothing like this.
Silbern Royal Common Room
***Sometime Later***
Ichigo and Sabrina had both just finished their in-between meal, and while it was essentially an appetizer meant to awaken the appetite, it all depended on the size of the meal in the end, if it was too big then it wasn't exactly something that woke up the appetite much but rather gave a limited working on the stomach, and they did get a fairly big portion but it wasn't enough to satisfy their stomachs as they still had dinner to go later, so being stuffed when dinner is ready is not exactly optimal.
While they ate, Ichigo put on a movie on the TV, mostly out of Sabrina's desire to see a certain movie she liked, it wasn't often she used the TV, even though she had one in her own room, this was caused by Sabrina not really knowing how to use one as she didn't even know what a TV was until she moved to Silbern, regardless Ichigo put on A Goofy Movie, a good classic from 1995.
Though due to the intense training Ichigo had put Sabrina through, she fell asleep fairly quickly, which Ichigo noticed as she fell right into him once she had fallen completely asleep, though Ichigo decided to ignore it for now as he knew he really did push her more then she was used to, so letting her sleep for a moment didn't really hurt, currently she was sleeping with her head on Ichigo's left lap.
It was kinda funny now that Ichigo was thinking about it, the child who was supposed to be watching the movie fell asleep and Ichigo was sitting there leaning on his head into his right fist, watching a childrens movie as he had nothing better to do, then the phone rang, which was located at a table, with two chairs in a corner of all places, so Ichigo had to stand up.
Gently repositioning Sabrina without waking her up, which he was successful in, before moving towards a chair sat down, he noticed it was the control center that was calling, the control center always knew where the royals were as they had a system that marked their position, making it easier to transfer calls, regardless he picked it up.
"This is Ichigo." Ichigo said into the phone.
"Your majesty, the call is being redirected." The operator said as Ichigo heard a beep.
"Hello?" Ichigo said into the phone.
"Ichigo-dono, this is Tessai, I'm regretful to bother you but a situation has arisen in the world of the living in which Leonikt-dono and I feel should be brought directly to your immediate attention!" Tessai stated.
"How bad?" Ichigo replied.
"I am not sure, I believe you need to evaluate that yourself, but we request additional forces, preferably military paladins and investigators from the research division." Tessai replied.
"Where?" Ichigo asked.
"Taiwan, just outside Taipei, we have given the position to Silbern already." Tessai replied.
"I'll be there in five minutes!" Ichigo replied.
To be continued
A/N: JennadeDamaged, no you are right, turns out I looked at the wrong notes which was taken out, or rather, the draft files, causing a mistake in two chapters, they will be immediately corrected, thanks for bringing this fault to light.
Since there was so much technology involved in this chapter and vehicles, I decided to put in some Quincy magic to indicate that we are still in the spiritual world, only the Wandenreich is more advanced then the Soul Society and much more open to change then the Soul Society is.
Additionally, the K-29N Sentinel Armored Charger, also known as the Sentinel is inspired by the STAG N-forcer from Saints row three with most of it completely identical, but I did modify it to accomidate Quincy needs aswell as it is essentially a front line car meant for battlefield usage.
Alright, so I've been asked in PM what the difference between a tank and a stormcannon is, and it is essentially that a tank is made to work independently ahead of infantry and function in it's own accord, where the stormcannon is essentially just an artillery gun with armor, an engine and tracks shoved on it, a tank is well capable of working independently as mentioned but a stormcannon is made to support the infantry, compared to a tank that works ahead of the infantry and clears out the enemy beforehand, the stormcannon is made to work with the infantry and advance with them as it is unable to properly protect itself due to not having a turret, and the weakpoint of such a vehicle is it's rear where the engine is mounted, so once an enemy gets behind it, it's pretty much screwed, compared to a tank that can just rotate it's turret rapidly and destroy anything and everything, so in short, a stormcannon works with the infantry as field artillery and a tank works ahead of the infantry to let the infantry mop up what remains, that's the difference.
Of course I have been asked if it was possible to do tank battles, but in order to do that I need to implement tanks, and while I don't really see the benefit of a tank, I will let the reader decide, so you can PM or leave a review on whether you want me to implement tanks into the story or not. So go ahead and leave a review or a PM and I will make a decision based on the majority, of course I will leave a message in A/N on which won.
