So, when Beckett hears the soft click of the front door closing, then, the creaking of stairs, she springs into action.

She creeps toward the noise, gun drawn. Reaching the nursery, her heart stops.

"Put my daughter down!" she growls.

Spinning around, cradling Lily, he gasps on seeing the gun.

"Kate!" he squeaks, a familiar voice.

"Castle?" She lowers the weapon. "Your book tour?"

"Canceled. Missed my girls too much." He sighs.

"You only left ten minutes ago."
