Chapter 87 - Visions

The Doctor got up off the sofa and nodded that it was alright for Genie to have ice cream. "Genie, stay here with these guys. I'm going to change, too."

He grabbed his jacket, and walked down the hall with Rose.

"You are so funny. The entire lot of you. Of all things to bet on." Rose told him as they walked into their closet.

"Ah, it's been a weird day. That's the second bet I've lost." He confessed as his phone rang.

He answered, "Doctor Smith."

He leaned against the doorway as he spoke on the phone, watching Rose change. She noticed and took his hand and sat him down on the bench. He smiled as he continued his conversation.

"Yep, a bet is a bet! I'll get it out for you tomorrow morning." He said.

Rose unbuttoned her blouse, turned and slid down her skirt, slowly. Exposing her thong.

The Doctor ran his hand through his hair and cleared his throat. "I'm sorry, what? Well, hell Tony. That's not necessary."

Rose took off her heels and put them back on the shelf. The Doctor made a face of disapproval and pointed his finger at her forcefully.

'Heels?!' he grumbled in her head.

Rose rolled her eyes.

He continued his conversation as Rose disappeared in the closet. "I really appreciate that! Wow! Amazing! Thank you, Tony."

Rose reappeared in front of him wearing a knee length, sleeveless simple light blue dress. He looked at her and tossed his hands up in disappointment.

"The hell!?" he exclaimed.

He returned to his phone call, "Sorry. Not you. Ugh! Mad woman here."

Rose heard laughter on the other end of the phone call. She smiled and walked into the bathroom. The Doctor rubbed his face in disappointment.

"Yeah, I actually had tea with him this afternoon. No. He had no idea. There's a mole someplace I need to find though. Wow! He had a lot of information I'm not comfortable with him knowing. Thank you for your help on that."

Rose heard him as she brushed her hair.

"Right!" he said as he ended the call.

Rose called from the sink. "You sir, have some explaining to do."

He walked to his side of the closet. "Oh, don't I always have something I need to explain?"

"You aren't going to confess?" Rose asked.

"No way! Not until I know what you know. I learned a long time ago, never tell a woman using that tone of voice anything! It might not be what she already is cross about." He told her.

Rose smiled, "Clever."

He walked out of the closet wearing his jeans and a black oxford shirt. Rose noticed he had put on his blue trainers. He was finishing rolling up his sleeves.

She turned and leaned against the cabinet, sitting the brush down. He came over to her, put both of his hands on the cabinet on either side of her, leaned in and kissed her quickly.

"That's so mean, Rose Tyler. Teasing a man like that." He smiled at her.

She smiled as she turned around and sat down her brush. She pulled her hair up and said, "Oh, stop grumbling. You like it."

He nodded as he stepped away from her. "Oh, you know I do. Are you putting your hair up?"

"I'm thinking about it." She told him.

He grabbed the hair brush and wet his hand quickly under the tap. He brushed out her hair and started twisting, and braiding it.

"Too tight?" he asked her.

She smiled, "No. I love you playing with my hair."

He chuckled, "Just a matter of time before that part of me bled into you."

"So, nothing you want to confess?" Rose asked him.

"Nope!" he popped. "Don't know what you are on about."

She rolled her eyes as he worked on her hair. "Whatever, Old Man. We'll talk about it later. Why are you wearing your trainers? Are you going someplace?"

"Yes. I have a surprise for you! I have to go get it in a bit." He explained.

She smiled, "You're always surprising me. I wonder what it could be."

"Oh, something I'm extremely excited about. I've been shielding it all day. I hope that's not what you are on about. Have I spoiled that?" he asked her.

"No. I doubt that's it." She told him.

He finished her hair. "There. Wow. I've not done that in ages. That's really nice!"

Rose looked around and found a small mirror. She turned to face him and looked in the small mirror at the back of her head. She saw a very elegant braid that had a piping of hair running through it.

"That's beautiful. Where did you learn to do that?" she asked him.

He leaned down and kissed her quickly and smiled. "Only the best for my Rose. I need to run out, just for a bit, and get your surprise. Will you order dinner for everyone? Whatever you want. Don't let Jack pick me anything out. He might lace it with aspirin!"

Rose laughed at him. "He's not that bad. How much have you been sneezing?"

He put his hand on her cheek, "Not bad. I had the cleaning service come in today when we were gone. They did something to get the smell out. It helps."

Rose smiled up at him. "What is it?"

He smiled at her. "I just want to stand here and look at you. You are so beautiful. Have I told you that today?"

She wrapped her arms around his waist and pulled him close. He put his other hand on her cheek and rubbed her face with his thumbs.

"May I kiss you, Rose? Please?" He asked her.

"Why do you think you need to ask permission? You know you can." Rose smiled at him.

He shook his head, "No, this is different. I want to try something. You trust me, right?"

She looked at him curiously, "Are you going to do something strange to me?"

He chuckled, "Possibility. It might feel….weird. It won't hurt you. I would never hurt you."

She smiled, "I know that. I'm yours. Go ahead."

He smiled as he bit his bottom lip and looked at hers. He looked back into her eyes. "Sure?"

She rolled her neck back in surprise. "I think so."

He laughed, "Relax. I can feel how tense you are now. It's alright."

She rubbed his back. "Sorry. Go ahead."

He leaned in and rubbed his nose with hers. He kissed her gently. He put his hands on either side of her face as he licked her lips slowly.

She moaned.

He put one of his hands on the back of her head while he kept the other one on her cheek. He slipped his tongue into her mouth as he kissed her. She felt a rush of emotions from him. It was overwhelming. She felt as though the force of it would knock her off her feet if she wasn't standing against the cabinet. She grabbed him tightly as he continued to kiss her. She suddenly saw something she couldn't explain.

'It's alright.' He told her.

He continued to kiss her. She could feel his heart racing, hers felt like it might beat out of her chest.

She felt safe and excited. She was pulling back from hugging someone to see the face of a ginger, young man beaming in pride and wearing a graduation gown. She heard her voice say, "I'm so proud of you, Tony! A doctor! We saw that coming, didn't we?" She saw a flash of light.

She saw a beautiful, tall, slender black woman with an elegant braid embracing the Doctor. "You would approve, Daddy. I know you would." She said.

She heard the Doctor say, "Sweetheart, I'll always trust your judgment. Even more than my own."

She saw another flash, and then saw the Doctor standing on the upper deck of a huge house. She could hear the ocean and felt the wind blowing in her face. She walked up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. She heard her voice ask, "Where is everyone?"

He smiled as he pointed towards the beach where she saw a tall, ginger, teenage boy holding the reins of a horse who was standing in the water up to his chest, a slim black teenage girl on another horse with a small toddler, and two other children playing in the water. She watched as one of the taller of the small children climbed onto the back of a second horse and jumped into the water. All of the children laughed and cheered.

She saw a flash and then rolled over in a bed to come face to face with her Doctor. He had a completely different face. She somehow knew it was him. He opened his eyes and smiled at her. "Is it alright? Do I still make you happy?"

She felt herself smile as she ran her hand across his cheek. "You have never disappointed me."

She saw a flash of light as she realized she was still kissing her Doctor. He was breathing heavy as he stopped and rubbed his nose against hers. He opened his eyes and stepped back, rubbing his face.

"Wooooo! Wow! That was wild! Never done that with anyone before." He told her as he rubbed his face and laughed.

She leaned against the cabinet. Her heart felt like it was going to beat out of her chest. She was panting.

The Doctor grabbed her hands and looked at her, "Are you alright?"

She nodded, still dazed. He chuckled at her as he grabbed a towel and wet it. He put it on the back of her neck making her feel instantly better. He picked her up and sat her on the cabinet. She wrapped her legs around him as he held her and rubbed her back. He lay his forehead on hers.

"Better? Sorry if I made you sick. I didn't know how you would react honestly. I've never done that with anyone else. I didn't know if it was possible." He told her, not taking his forehead off of hers.

"Is that how you see things?" she asked him.

"Sometimes. I get glances of things, just like you saw. It's like a …..state of mind I have to be in. Like …. meditation or something. Oh, I'm terrible at explaining things, Rose. Ugh! English needs more damn words!"

Rose giggled at him. "So, not all of the time?"

He rose up and shook his head. "No. Not often at all. I don't like to see it. I'd rather just be surprised with everyone else. I hate spoilers."

Rose smiled at him. "So, that was Tony?"

He smiled proudly, "Yes! You did see it! I wonder where he gets the idea to do that?"

Rose smiled, "Oh, I can guess. And Genie?"

He put his hands on either side of her and leaned into the cabinet. He nodded, "Yes. Man, what a beautiful woman. I really need to rethink locking her in the TARDIS."

"You said you trust her judgment." Rose reminded him.

He chucked as he stood up and ran his hand through his hair. "Oh, and that scares me. Why would I need to say that? Oh, the gods! What is that daughter of mine going to put me through?"

Rose giggled at his reaction. "Such a Daddy. I love this side of you. It's endearing. "

He leaned back into the cabinet and sighed. "Oh, how I worry about that child. My master interrogator. That's promising. At least she's not angry with me as she gets older. Seems like she still likes me."

Rose looked up at him, "She adores you. Sounds to me like she feels loved. Valued. Trusted. What more can someone want?"

He nodded his head and smiled, "Yeah. Did you see the horses?"

"Are those other three children….."

"Ours?" he helped. "I have no idea. And who would have thought horses on our island?"

Rose giggled. "I was going to talk to you about that. Genie asked me today if we could get horses. I told her that I would talk to you about it."

He chuckled, "Looks like that's something we do. Wow! That's a swell idea! I love riding. I guess Genie does to."

"And these other, random children." Rose smiled.

"With Tony and Genie!" the Doctor pointed out. "Wow." He ran his hand through his hair and looked at her. "What did they look like? Could you tell?"

Rose shook her head. "No. I couldn't even tell if they were boys are girls."

He pointed at her, "See, this is why I don't like doing this. Now, that's going to make me crazy. I hate spoilers."

Rose tossed her hands up, "No one asked you to do this."

He moaned and tossed his hands up. "I can't help it! I can feel it and have to look. I've felt it for a while! I decided to show you so we can suffer together!"

He walked away from her and put his hands on his hips. "I have to admit, this is the first time, in all of my lives that I've been able to talk to someone about what I saw. Normally, I just look and then forget about it. Try to forget about it."

"Is this alright? Are you okay?" Rose asked him.

He nodded his head as he put his hands in his pockets. "I'm always alright, Rose. That's how I know. When you stop having these…..visions…..you just stop. Something happens and you die or whatever. It is how I've always known that no matter what was happening, I was going to be alright."

Rose was surprised. "So that does mean something! Something else besides just, 'alright,' like we would say."

He looked down at the floor and nodded, "Yes. English is a very limited language. That's the closest thing to what I would call it. I'm. We. Are alright. Tony and Genie are too. No matter what happens, that happens. It's fixed in time. Everything you saw is a fixed point."

"You change again." Rose told him.

He smiled, "Yeah, thankfully not until Genie and Tony are older it seems. But, I worry about those other three children. That's going to be very hard to explain. Maybe it's much later. Sometimes the things you see can be hundreds of years apart."

Rose smiled, "You are still so very handsome."

He looked at her and smiled, "Lusting after another me? Be careful there, Rose Tyler. I'll get jealous."

Rose laughed, "And not blue."

He ran his hand through his hair and laughed, "I've never been blue. No one in my family has. I really don't think we have to worry about that, love. But tell me, I couldn't see. Was I….. ginger?"

Rose laughed and jumped off the cabinet. She wrapped her arms around his waist. "You are so funny. Is that really what you want to know? Couldn't you see yourself?"

He shook his head as he held her. "No, I saw you. How could I see myself?"

Rose looked surprised, she hadn't thought about that. "So, you saw me?"

He nodded, "Yes. Everything I saw was from my point of view. You saw things from your point of view. That's how it works."

"What did I look like?" Rose asked him.

He let her go and walked away from her. "Well, of course you weren't ginger! Damn it, Rose! Thirteen bodies and none of them ginger! Well, I'm not entirely certain about this body though. Is it my first or my eleventh? Huh. I haven't thought of that. Huh. I might outlive my other self. That would be something. Explains that prophecy. Wow. That explains a great deal."

He put his hands on his hips, lost in thought.

Rose looked at him, "Prophecy?"

He looked up at her and waved it off. "In the vault, love! Don't worry about it. Crazy, Time Lord legends! Really. Don't worry."

She put her hands on her hips, "You know. I need to tell you about something. When I was looking for you, I met you. An older you."

He shook his head, "No, love. That was him. An older him. Not me. He could only change one more time. It would have been his last face. I remember seeing it. Big chin, looked younger than me…."

Rose shook her head. "No. He was older. Scottish. Curly, white and grey hair. He had bookshelves all over the TARDIS. I asked Jack about him. He met him, too. Traveled with him for a while."

He shook his head. "Rose, that's not possible. He can only change one more time. That was someone else."

She looked at him seriously, "No! He knew me. He knew I was looking for you. He told me that I would find you, and would be very happy. He cried when I had to leave. He told me to give you a message."

The Doctor looked surprised at her. "How can you be sure it was him?"

"I'm a trained agent of Torchwood you daft bloke! I asked him something only you and him would know!" Rose insisted.

He nodded his head. "Right. Sorry. Okay, so it was him. What was the message?"

Rose shrugged her shoulders. "It makes no sense. I haven't told you about it because I know you hate talking about him. He said, let me think. It was odd. Let me think."

He put his hands in his pockets and sighed.

"I've got it. He said, 'No More'. He said to tell you that first." Rose told him.

The Doctor's eyes got huge. "Oh, that bastard! Of course he would remind me of that! Sorry piece of shit." Rose felt him become angry as he walked into the bedroom and kicked his football as hard as he could against the window. He continued to complain in another language. He was livid.

Rose was shocked. She followed him into the bedroom and watched him clap to return the ball himself.

"You aren't wearing your necklace, how is the ball returning to you?" Rose asked him.

He gritted his teeth. "It's my watch. I gave my necklace to Genie. What the hell, Rose? Out of anything he could have said to me? That? Oh, I'm going to kill him if I ever see him again. What an ass!"

He kicked the ball again as hard as he could. Rose could feel his anger. He rubbed his face with both of his hands and clapped to return his ball. "That?! He says to tell me that?! Out of everything? Not, 'I'm sorry?' Not, 'We could have done this differently?' Not….. ugh! Oh, that is just….."

He kicked the ball again as hard as he could. "Fucking hell. That guy!" He continued to complain in some language Rose couldn't understand.

Genie ran in the room. "Daddy! Let's kick the ball!"

He clapped and sat the ball down in front of Genie. "Go ahead, Little One."

Genie kicked the ball against the window.

Rose put her hands on her hips. "We're not done talking about this."

"I'm done talking about this! I don't want to hear anything else about it. There's nothing he could say that would do anything but wind me up worse. I have enough problems without having to import them from…..him! 'No more'. No more indeed, Rose! I'm going to think no more about it. I'm not going to let him get into my life! He's screwed his up and he's not messing up ours! I won't let him. Ugh!"

Genie looked at him as he clapped and sat the ball back down in front of her. "Are you cross with Rose?"

He shook his head. "No, Little One. Rose, I'm sorry to be so…"

"Unreasonable?" Rose helped.

He snapped as he pointed at her. "Yes. We'll go with that. I'm not angry with you at all. This is something I really just don't want to talk about. Think about ever again."

He kicked his ball as hard as he could.

Genie put her hands on her hips. "Hey! Daddy!"

He clapped and caught the ball. "Sorry, sweetheart. Daddy's head is all messed up at the moment."

He handed her the ball and walked back to Rose. He put his hands on his hips and spoke in another language.

"What are you doing?" Rose asked him.

"Counting to ten. Calming down." He told her. "Rose, I'm sorry. I just can't talk about this. Not now."

"He said you would be –"

"Really. Not now." He rubbed his face. "I'm sorry, I just can't."

Rose wrapped her arms around him. "I didn't mean to upset you. It was not my intention."

He nodded his head. "I know, sweetheart."

She could still feel his anger. "New plan. Let's forget about it. Go get my surprise and I'll call for dinner."

Genie stopped playing and heard what Rose said, "Daddy is leaving?"

Rose could feel her fear. The Doctor did too. "Get on the bed, Genie. I have an idea."

Genie climbed up on the bed as he walked over and stood near the side of it. Rose felt his anger completely disappear as he spoke to Genie.

"Okay, on the count of three….jump to Daddy. Come on." He told her as he took a large step back from the bed.

Rose's eyes got huge. "Are you kidding me?"

Genie jumped on the bed and bounced right into the Doctor's arms. He laughed at her. "Like a kangaroo! I'm not going to deal with any more monsters right now, Genie. You are safe."

She held him tightly around the neck. "I don't want you to leave."

Rose rubbed her back. "What's this about?"

"She had a fright this afternoon. She'll be alright. Just needs Daddy a bit more for a while." The Doctor explained. He kissed Genie. "Come on, Genie. You can come with me to get Rose's surprise. You will love it! Let's go get Shakes."
