Chapter 64

"Hokuto, will you please stop fussing over me? I'm fine! I love you, but will you ever let me be an adult?"

"Nope, because clearly, YOU MAKE DUMB DECISIONS."

Subaru looked at his older twin and crossed his arms. "It isn't my idea you know…this is Sei-kun's idea and I don't approve of it either."

"Then my issue is with him! Where's my wand!"

"Hokuto please calm down, I assure you it will be okay."

"What will? You getting bitten by the most monstrous and venomous snake in the world?!"

"It's the only way to kill the part of her soul that's inside me unless someone here is willing to use the killing curse on me?"

Kamui started to raise his hand; he still hadn't forgiven Seishirou for the venomous plant incident; but Fuuma slapped his hand down. "Your heart wouldn't be in it. Come on; let's get you your coffee."

"Sei-kun…the only cure for Basilisk venom is Phoenix tears and we don't exactly have one of those."

"They keep some in St. Mungo's. Dad told me, it will be fine. Besides, after that, I plan on keeping it as a pet."

Subaru had reluctantly let Seishirou seek out the Basilisk, only after confirming that St. Mungo's did in fact have Phoenix tears. Turns out his father-in-law owned a Phoenix so thankfully it was just a matter of time. Subaru was forced to stay behind and let Fuuma go with him since Subaru was pregnant and was ordered by both Hokuto and Seishirou to stay home.

Fuuma paced, not feeling the least bit comfortable out in this big…..wasteland for lack of a better words. It looked worse than the old Chamber of Secrets that he had seen pictures of in the history books (not that he paid attention in history of magic mind you, his teacher's voice nearly put him to sleep and it was his least favorite subject next to potions). He heard his brother talking in some weird language and heard the shrill scream before walking up, his legs shaking with nerves.

He heard that the stare of a Basilisk was deadly so he kept his gaze down on his feet and prayed his brother had managed to tame it so it didn't eat him or worse kill him.

To his surprise, he saw the thing was…asleep and seemed to be protecting his brother who looked at Fuuma with half closed amber eyes. "Get me to Dad…then I'm coming back to take this one home…it's lonely."

Amber eyes opened and he saw himself in glittery green robe in King's Cross Station. "Why am I?"

"That's a good question, isn't it bigger brother? This is the crossroads and I hoped I would never see you here."

He looked and he saw…Kotori? It couldn't be. Kotori was a little girl when she died; this woman was older, a few years younger than Subaru in fact. "Kotori? You've aged…how?"

"My soul lives here…in the crossroads. My spirit is still tied to that of the mortal world. Mommy was wrong about me you see. I did have magic and had the makings of a seer. I knew what she was planning to do so I made her a trade."

"Does that…does that mean I'm dead? Did Fuuma mess up again?"

"No, you're not. Unless you choose to stay here but I daresay as much as I mean to you, there's someone else that holds a greater pull on your heart and can make you happy, right?"

A moment's hesitation before amber eyes closed. "Yes."

"Then go, he's waiting for you. Oh, and bigger brother?"

"Yeah?"

"Remember that the future isn't always decided."
