QBH: I can't believe that I haven't uploaded a chapter for so long.
Luigi: That sounds odd because you did upload another chapter in quick succession, what happened?
QBH: I don't know if i just got lazy or i just didn't see writing fanfiction is a top priority.
Mario: Oddly you have been buzy with the switch for the time being.
QBH: The switch is perfect for a working man like me. I admit I no longer have the freetime like any child or teenager. It does suck that you must be responsible and learn to fend for yourself.
Luigi: Well as long your audience can respect that. I just hope that they wont have to wait that long for the next chapter.
QBH: Well I admit I can't guarrantee that but I am committed to writing whenever I have the freetime. Anyway, I present you guys this chapter! Enjoy!
Chapter 84: A Chance to Talk
As Zelda is getting ready to take a bath, she is also trying to put in deep thought about some of her actions with Luigi in check.
Meanwhile Luigi exhausted from his conflicting interaction with Zelda, tries to head to a different bathroom to get ready for bedtime.
Elsewhere, Link leading Samus by hand across numerous stages at first being awkward silent until Link finally ask
"You are awfully quiet since I hold your hand. Is there something on your mind, Samus?" Link
"Uh… No. I always wanted to hold hands with you. I wished it would be a bit more romantic instead of forced like this at the last moment." Samus
"I understand. I should also apologize to you." Link
"Apologize for what exactly?" Samus
"I never actually took you seriously when you mentioned underneath the armor that you are a woman. The moment you did the reveal, my heart actually started beating differently and your beauty enamored me." Link
"Is that so? I … am flattered. Deep down, I wanted to like you though I should have said so when you first introduce me to Zelda." Samus embarrassed
Link immediately realize what Samus meant and smiled at her
"I wanted to introduce you to her as my best friend. Were you intimidated by her back then?" Link
"I … uh ..." Samus stuttering embarrassingly
Link just smiled genuinely at her until she finally speaks
"Actually when you first introduce me to Zelda, I felt … jealous about her. She is after all your princess that you swore to protect and be her hero and everything. I instantly thought I couldn't win you over because you would be lovers." Samus lowering her head in shame
Link didn't respond at first.
Silence descended between the two until Link finally spoke.
"I am amazed that you are the bravest, fearless and confident bounty hunter would show such insecurity." Link
Samus didn't say anything thinking that Link would be disappointed in her.
"Then that makes me a terrible boyfriend." Link
"No. I don't think you are that horrible." Samus
"But I actually dated other girls before without knowing you had feelings for me." Link
"You what?! Wait … how long have you dated Peach?" Samus
"Ever since we all got introduced. I have been trying all this time to even meet up with you but you have been so elusive that I thought we are growing distant." Link
"Oh, I didn't intend to make it like that … I'm sorry I was too wrapped up in my own insecurities." Samus
"Then you should have told me so. After all we became friends before she joined us here." Link
Samus blushed heavily once more upon the realization and softly spoke
"I actually wanted it more than just 'friends'. It may have been when we first jump into Melee." Samus embarrassed
"But you didn't tell me until now?" Link
"Yeah. Would you still forgive me?" Samus
Link responded by pulling Samus closer to him and gaze into her eyes, which the latter didn't expect and softly reassures her
"Of course, Samus. A misunderstanding isn't going to break our close friendship. It is only natural for couples to have disagreements but this isn't going to stop us from dating. Besides … I am very much enamored by your beautiful face ever since you are allowed out of your power suit." Link
Samus blushed even harder at the sudden close up and couldn't speak out but she thought aloud
"It is also hard not to get fixated on your pretty boy looks too you know." Samus
Link just smiled and continued to lead her by the hand while Samus is at this point trying to regain her composure still.
Back at Luigi's Mansion, Luigi feeling exasperated from the situation, is still totally unsure what to think about Zelda's sudden change in behavior
"I really can't tell how Zelda's been acting whenever we go out together. I mean she can be so calm and composed. Almost mature and like an amazing queen." Luigi
Recalling how shy and reserved she was on their first few dates he thought she is just a very refined young woman. Nowadays she somehow able to express herself more even do very seductive acts whenever she can get away with it. Luigi couldn't tell if he is okay or scared with it.
Meanwhile at one of the many bathrooms, Zelda is innocently taking a bath when she is interrupted
"I am starting to get worried about your odd behavior for some time now. I am starting to get concern you might behave differently." Sheik echoed in
Zelda is surprised by the interruption even at such an odd time.
"Are you sure? I mean I don't feel or been doing anything differently." Zelda
"You can say and deny that all you want but I tend to notice snippets of you being more aggressive and even seductive towards Luigi whenever you two get together." Sheik
"I think you are overreacting Sheik. I don't display that kind of behavior you are talking about." Zelda
"I won't turn a blind eye to your more brazen moments here, Zelda. I just hope this won't make Luigi too uncomfortable and leaves you." Sheik
"Luigi isn't the type to just simply abandon his friends like that, I think." Zelda
"Well, I should be worried. Luigi is the only one we both consider our closest friend." Sheik
Zelda paused over what Sheik said, she quietly reminisced all of the get togethers they had and she couldn't deny that she has spent most of it with Luigi.
"Since when did you admit that Luigi is your closet friend?" Zelda
"Remember Luigi is the only one who knows we can transform into each other." Sheik
"I understand that whenever either of us needed to show up for a tournament match, he would often cover for us when it was appropriate." Sheik
"I often tend to forget that he would do that for us." Zelda
"That is why I don't want to take Luigi's relationship for granted." Sheik
"You maybe right. Though if you are worried about him. I can switch with you if you don't mind." Zelda
"It is not necessary. I don't want him preoccupied when he is still participating in the ongoing tournament." Sheik
"Alright." Zelda
Back to Link and Samus as the two are getting close to Link's home at Hyrule Castle. Link still leading Samus by the hand, strolling past stages oddly without a word spoken.
"You have been awfully quietly back there. Is it something I said?" Link
"No… Its odd of you to be so forward on our relationship." Samus
"Then do you want it to be more discreet? I know the others have been eyeing on you since you can be out of the suit." Link
"Was it that big of a deal?" Samus surprised
Link obviously remembers the days most of the males are staring at her rather than her combat or the results
"Have you wondered why so many others tried to ask you out?" Link
"Uh… I actually said I wasn't interested and often reject or lie my way out." Samus
"Oh … you did. How come you keep rejecting them?" Link amazed at the revelation
"Cause I … I only have eyes for you. You have long been friendly with me before all the unwanted attention." Samus blushing
"But didn't you also assume that I am in a relationship and never bother to address it?" Link
"I admit now I am too stubborn to change unless proven wrong." Samus
"If the rest of the guys knew you would behave like this, they would immediately be turned off." Link
"I am not just some pretty girl trophy that you can date or ogle over." Samus
"By the way you have been fighting and kicking outside of your power suit, I don't even want to get in your bad side." Link
"That is why I can expect from my boyfriend." Samus
Link blushed at the revelation
"Boyfriend? You already admit that?" Link
"Of course. I wanted to reaffirm that notion since the start of Melee." Samus
"But … that was when I introduced you to Zelda, correct?" Link
"Uh … yes. Since you introduced me to her as your princess of your home world." Samus
"Funny. I just wanted to address my best friend to another good friend. I must have been oblivious that I never took your true feelings into account." Link
"You do remember that I am stuck fighting in a bulky power suit back then, right? Even when I told you my gender, you didn't believe me." Samus
"Did you tell anyone else about your gender back then?" Link
"No." Samus
"Then that is why I had a hard time believing. Although after that introduction, you did try to avoid me and never wanted to hang out afterwards. Were you jealous of Zelda because you assumed she is my 'girlfriend'?" Link
"Of course. You are considered the 'hero' of your respective universe and the knight to her. I thought it was natural for the two of you to be lovers since the hero is always coming to the aid of his princess." Samus
Link stopped walking, turns around and looked Samus with a look of disbelief, forcing the latter to be really concerned since she always see him as a calm yet forgiving friend.
"What kind of romance fantasy do you believe in? I am indeed considered the 'hero' in my universe but there are flaws in what you assumed that me and Zelda are lovers by default." Link being serious
"Such as?" Samus while feeling scarred how Link can be when he feels he has wronged someone.
"For one thing, I am just a simple man. I mean that I am an ordinary guy who has no title, training or even prestige before getting the destine role as the hero. There were countless times, I didn't want anything to do with saving the world but I had no choice or say on the matter as the end justifies the means. Which is why I will do what I can to vanquish evil regardless of circumstances." Link
Samus didn't argue and was amazed at his reasoning.
"Another point is that, if you are comparing Mario to me then he happens to know the Princess after rescuing her. He did tell me when I was first introduced to her is that they both know each other since childhood. So, it was natural the two are close and even be considered lovers if they both are willing to commit." Link
"So how come you never did the same thing with your princess?" Samus
"I have given it some thought and did made an attempt to get to know her better but …" Link
"But?" Samus
"We actually have nothing in common at times, we do share experiences and get along but we both agree it wont work out. We oddly respected each other and still remain friends despite our huge differences. I mean I am just a commoner, and she is a princess. A woman of nobility and prestige like that made me feel inadequate just being near her." Link
"Is it the same when it comes to me instead?" Samus
"Actually, due to our similar situations, like our rise to adventure and exploration, we got along surprisingly well. I admit there wasn't anyone else I rather hang out with other than you. Does that make you feel better?' Link
"Of course." Samus blushing yet smiling openly
Link didn't hesitate to kiss Samus gently which lead to her to pull him into a tight embrace as they continued their kiss for a bit.
Afterwards both showing genuine smiles as they continued to head back to Link's place holding hand in hand as they do so.
QBH: I feel embarrassed that it is nearly a year since I uploaded a new one.
Luigi: But you are working so hard. It is still amazing that you are continuing in writing chapters despite everything.
QBH: I said it before and I mention it again. I do have a life and while I don't have the luxury of having free time like every working adult.
Mario: Then how come you are still buying and playing games? Are you trying to procrastinate and make your audience wait for another year?
QBH: I am still a gamer. I want to continue playing the games I am interested in. I admit that I am committed with writing more chapters.
Luigi: Well I tend to notice that the plot is right now stagnating, when are we getting back in the action or the fighting?
QBH: Since when are you so eager to jump back in to the fighting tournament? It will come in due time. See you guys soon for the next one!
