The Fate of the First Hero of Light
In a small room in a cottage somewhere...
Two figures stand inside.
"JUST OPEN THE DOOR!"
"Zelda please stop..."
"QUIET FOOL! JUST DO AS I SAY!"
The Dwarven Mage Hurmhilda submits, she calls forth a warp gate.
The stone door fades into existence.
The texture of the stone slab changes and it becomes like rough crystals sparkling in blue.
The gates frame still stays as if it were made of stone.
Zelda moves to enter the gate, before she can, a red ape like face takes form and protrudes from the warp gate, it speaks.
"Avatar know that Brittania has entered into a new age of enlightenment, know that the time has finally come for the one true lord of Brittania to take his place at the head of..."
"SHUT UP!"
Zelda winds back her shoulder and with great force...
BAM
Her punch has shattered the ape's head.
Its many red fragments fall on the floor.
Finally the warp gate has stabilized.
Zelda puts her hands into the blue crystals of the gate, they disappear like that of an illusionist's performance.
She walks into the gate and disappears from the present world.
The gate closes behind her.
Zelda takes in her surroundings, she is standing in a street there are many fires around her. The Kingdom's royal guards lay strewn about on the road, they have fallen in battle.
There is a white beast moving through the streets with great speed, he is carrying someone on his back. The person being carried is wearing a headdress that is made from an ice creature, protecting her from falling debris.
Zelda is reliving the day when Geir saved her from House Dominitus's assassination attempt.
She will attempt to move further on than last time she had been here. She adjusts the speed of the recollections of times past. She walks next to Geir, as he moves slowly killing his family members.
She sees herself being carried by him.
"This was when he almost killed his mother."
Zelda stops the magical recollection of events past.
She takes in the scene.
She looks to Geir his eyes are fierce, he is breathing very heavily, there is blood everywhere covering him.
The Knight and Fire Mage arrive.
Geir apprehends his mother he is going to execute her.
Zelda has seen this vision time and time again...
The many suncycles that have passed since these moments, the many quests and experiences, the battles fought, the death and the destructions.
Zelda thinks to herself she has lost her naivety many times ago, but even then, she knows his reasons but could never approve of his actions.
The vision continues...
Zelda sees herself and the Knight standing in the street.
The blade goes to kill the woman, it is blocked in the air. Geir's Grandmother stopped it with her ice magics.
Many words are spoken, she does not even listen she has been here many times.
Geir's Grandmother Esdeath makes an ice lounge in the street, she sits down.
Geir's parents are being restrained by the Knight.
Geir and the Fire Mage run towards House Dominitus.
"I will move onto House Dominitus this time."
Geir moves so fast even with her walking at a brisk pace, she has to slow down the projection of the pasts events even further.
She is standing in front of the gates of House Dominitus.
There is a great battle being waged, Geir darts pass the chaos and runs into the building.
Zelda grasps to her chest, she has never gone in.
"Do I really want to know?" Zelda goes to open the gateway to return to her time.
In her mind she sees the image of the smiling boy with the bright eyes, that she had seen in the dream world.
"How could that innocent boy turn into Geir?"
Zelda walks into the building.
There is blood everywhere, people lay decapitated and dismembered.
Zelda throws up and falls on her hands and knees.
"Why?"
Zelda thinks that she has been in many battles and has seen each type of cruelty imaginable. Even the magical battles of past, the explosions from her hand's clay have mangled and maimed people many times worse than these injuries.
"Is it because they are innocents?"
Zelda stands up, she composes herself. The white beast darts in front of her path, he runs down the halls, blood flows like a stream from his broadsword.
"Let me find the Lord Anaxtus, this bloodshed is to much."
Zelda walks up the stairs, finally she sees the office door.
She walks through the door, the office is busy. The Lord is issuing many orders the messengers depart. She sees Micheal and Estonix leave and close the doors, only the Lord and the Dionoxus twins are left.
Zelda feels nervous, as if she has to take a test she did not prepare for. She feels her legs shake and she clasps her hands together.
"Do I really want to see this?"
What feels like an eternity.
The door is kicked open.
Geir enters and in an instant kills the first twin and fatally wounds the other.
The massive man Lord Anaxtus assists the other twin.
He puts him carefully down and closes his eyes.
Zelda looks to Geir she wants to flee from these events.
She sees the image of the innocent child she had seen.
Geir stands weakly, the sword that is almost as long, as what he is tall, starts slipping out of his grip.
Tears are forming he will start to cry at any moment.
"GEIR DO NOT FALTER!" The mighty man booms.
Zelda was startled by his words. Geir recovers and grips his sword tightly.
The Lord moves to kill him.
Geir slides on the floor he hits a piece of furniture. He pushes with all his might, the sword pierces the Lord it is almost completely inside the massive man's frame.
Lord Anaxtus speaks to him, the sword is removed.
Geir assists the man to his great chair.
Lord Anaxtus speaks many words to the young child.
Zelda listens attentively.
"I have come this far, there is no use in even trying to be ashamed of betraying Geir's privacy."
The man takes Geir face in his hands the life is fading from them, he speaks his last.
Some moments pass...
Geir leaves the office and closes the doors.
It is only Zelda and the deceased Lord Anaxtus sitting in his great chair in the room.
Zelda looks he has a tranquil look and there is a smile on his face.
Zelda thinks to herself this is how a parent would look, if their child surpasses them.
Zelda sits on the floor with her back against the wall.
She stares blankly in front of her "Would he have killed me, if he had remembered their time together?"
Zelda stands up she calls forth the gate.
She returns and is inside the lodgings of the Dwarven Mage once more.
"I am leaving." Zelda walks outside of the cottage.
The Knight and Fire Mage are outside waiting for Zelda.
"YOUR MAJESTY YOU HAVE RETURNED!" "Your Highness did you find the answers you sought?"
"Sir Hunfery, Sir Izdryn thank you for waiting, let us return."
"AT ONCE YOUR MAJESTY!" "Yes, Your Highness."
They walk towards the Capitol.
"..."
There is total silence the Fire Mage and Knight are still, they know, Zelda is deep in thought.
They arrive at the Royal castle.
She enters the throne room, she sees a Mighty Dwarf with a mighty mustache and a braided beard.
"Great Father Thandall!"
"Yes, little Lassie I have been waiting for you."
Zelda wants to ask of his visit, but even before she could speak.
She breaks down and cries.
"YOUR MAJESTY!" "Your Highness!"
"Little girl what seems to be the problem?"
She runs to him and the Mighty Dwarf hugs the crying Zelda.
"Zelda what is the matter?"
She wants to speak but cannot.
"Please sons if you would excuse us."
"YES, I UNDERSTAND, WE WILL STAND READY! YOUR MAJESTY CALL FOR US! WE WILL BE HERE IMMEDIATELY!" "Yes, Your Highness."
Through her tears she nods, they depart.
"What seems to be the problem little girl."
Zelda explains to Great Father Thandall Deepstand.
"I see. Do you really need an answer?"
"Please Great Father my heart is so heavy, each night I cry myself to sleep."
"What I am about to tell you must never be shared, do you understand?"
Zelda gulps her throat.
"Yes, I will not share this ever."
The Mighty Dwarf speaks.
Zelda is so shocked at these words, she falls over on the floor.
"LITTLE GIRL!" Instantly the Knight and Fire Mage enter, they have their weapons drawn.
The Dwarf picks up the unconscious Queen.
"Sons, fetch some water!"
"AT ONCE!" The Knight runs out of the room.
Many moments pass...
The Queen awakes, she is laying in a bed at the castle's infirmary.
The medical assistant notices, the physician is called.
"Please Your Majesty rest for some moments more, have these." Zelda is handed some medicines.
She becomes slumberous, she closes her eyes.
Before she sleeps she thinks of the Great Father's words.
"Even if Geir had all of his recollections he would have saved your life Zelda, of that there is no question. When he returns home to the Dwarven Realm, he would many times tell us of your adventures and how proud he is of you little girl. I truly believe Geir to think of you, as if you were his little sister."
"WHAT DID YOU SAY?!"
"Yes, it is true Zelda, you are like a little sister to him. Geir is a prideful and shy person, he would never speak these words aloud. I have known me boy since young, this is truly how Geir thinks of you."
"LITTLE SISTER?!"
This revelation is to much for her to bare, Zelda puts her hand to her head and faints.
Zelda wakes she looks out of the window it is evening, the full moon is shining brightly.
The attendant, attends to her. The physician is called, examinations are done, she has passed all of the examinations.
The physician hands Zelda a confection, the same as what children receive when they are obedient.
The confection is a coloured sphere on a stick.
Zelda is discharged from the infirmary.
Zelda walks outside of the medical wing of the castle exiting the doors.
The Knight and Fire Mage, stand outside at attention, guarding the entrance.
Zelda speaks some words to the Fire Mage and Knight.
"THANK YOU HOLY MOTHER FOR YOUR BLESSING!" the Knight is so relieved he sheds one tear.
"Sir Hunfey, Sir Izdryn I will be retiring to my room."
They escort her to her room and greet her goodnight.
Zelda lays down to sleep, she does not feel tired.
"I must have slept too much at the infirmary."
She goes to and opens the hidden wall in her room.
She walks down to her hidden garden and waters the plants, the sound of the fountain's water bubbling out always relaxes her, the cool air in the hidden space makes it feel as if her soul is being healed.
Zelda looks to the full moon.
"If only I could ask Geir of his true feelings."
She says a prayer to her land's deity, even though being the Kingdom of Hyrule's Queen, she could never give her heart completely to the Quartet and the Holy Mother.
Finally she relents, for the first time she prays to the Holy Mother with her whole heart.
While sitting on her chair, she puts her hands to her chest clasping them tightly, she closes her eyes.
She prays with full earnestly in her heart...
"Please Holy Mother give me a sign, any sign that Geir would have protected me no matter the circumstance."
Zelda opens her eyes.
A bloody arm falls on her lap, it is wearing a sleeve of what would be from a white parka.
Zelda is so shocked at this, her face is totally white and she starts shivering out of fear.
She hears heavy breathing from behind her and feels something warm dripping on her head.
She jumps from her chair and turns around.
There is a bloodied figure that grabs her with one arm.
"ZELDA!" the figure grips her even tighter.
Zelda screams louder than she ever has.
"AAAAAAIIIIIIIIEEEEEE!PLEASE HOLY MOTHER SEND ME A DIFFERENT SIGN!"
Finish.
