Honor and her family arrive at the Lauder estate in the Maldives with little to no drama in the journey. Mitchum and Shira seem to be in good spirits as they enjoy drinks on the veranda during the sunset. The white stucco of the house glows pink with the reflection of the setting sun as Honor's mind wanders back to her honeymoon and the blissful month spent with her and Josh having the unfettered run of the place. She fell in love with this house during that trip. The memories have Honor hoping to rekindle the spark of an earlier time. It is not that she and Josh are no longer in love, they most certainly are, life has just gotten in the way the last few years. Josh's role at the firm has grown. She has her patronages and obligations. Life has simply pulled them in opposite directions as of late and she misses the connection she once felt.
With an audible sigh, Honor sinks into the chair to enjoy the feigning rays of daylights before dinner. She takes in the relaxed demeanor of her parents. They are sharing a laugh as their grandson's frolic in the pool. The tension of the rush to get out of the US has released. Josh hands Honor a refreshed drink as he pops into the neighboring chair to Honor's. "This is nice, we should have done this ages ago." Honor offers a warm smile in response to Josh's excitement. Despite their wealth and properties at their disposal, Josh realizes that they really don't enjoy them as often as they should. It has been a long while since he simply took a vacation. A forced vacation is a refreshing change.
With Mitchum safely tucked away where he cannot be easily tracked by the press and cannot be touched by law enforcement, Maj fully intends to spend the next two weeks getting lost in Finn. A break in her life is rare, at least rare outside of a drive-by shooting. Majestic has always acknowledged that she has the kind of career that does not come with an off switch. The universe has offered her the rarest of opportunity, the universe has sent her two full weeks with no obligations. In a true act of courage, Maj decides to let go and dive into this new relationship with Finn. Sleeping together was the jump into the abyss, as the days pass Maj feels the fall. She cannot help but acknowledge that she is falling hard for Finn. The words, those three words have not been exchanged between them at least not yet but Maj cannot ignore the creep of the emotions that she locked away for so very long. She was definitely not a wallflower, she had plenty of suitors and even some rather spectacular one-night stands that would have rivaled the exploits of a brother or two. She has known love and this feels like love. Maj glances over to watch Finn sleep next to her in the bed. She feels the tingle of jealousy, she wanted a life like Honor's. That kind of life was her original plan only fate played its rather cruel hand. Maj feels the pangs toward Rory too. Maj wanted a partner, she wanted children. Rory really does not know how lucky she is to be expecting a child. Maj knows in her heart that she is in love with Finn, what she does not know if this future will hold children within it.
As he faces her, she takes her hand to trace the line of his jaw, gently brushing some rogue curls to the side. Finn rouses from the touch as he focuses on Maj's expression. With a groggy, "Is everything alright?" Finn snuggles closer to Maj propping himself upon his arm. Maj nods without breaking her gaze at Finn. She is trying to find a way to express what she is thinking about but is at a profound loss for words. Finn fluffs a pillow before offering his arm to pull Maj in closer. Maj cuddles in, laying her head upon Finn's chest. She closes her eyes listening to the rhythm of his heartbeat as she traces circles with her fingers on his chest. Finn has grown to love moments like this with Maj. This is peace, true peace. Finn leans down kissing her forehead.
Rory is surprised as to how this rather unusual arrangement with Jess and Tess has worked out so far. Maj's house is big enough to allow for both community and space. It has not been as awkward as she imagined it would be. They have eased into a routine. Tess and Jess have taken over Maj's office as a Truncheon 2.0 with Tess starting to look over the contracts as Rory helps to edit manuscripts. Logan usually takes over the living room dealing with his business as needed. The evenings are rounds of community cooking and conversation-filled dinners. Even Logan admits that he is rather enjoying this unique arrangement. His rather posh existence was private, very private. He shared a room in boarding school and at Yale but he never really had to have roommates in the more traditional sense. This is a nice throwback to the simpler times in his life. He swears the baby is getting bigger by the day as Rory has transitioned from walking to a bit of a waddle. He is glad to have even this short time to watch his baby grow. Logan's favorite time of the day is when he and Rory fall asleep and he can place his hand on Rory's bump to feel the baby move about.
Given the marriage of his father figure and Rory's mother, Jess is relieved that Tess and Rory seem to be striking up an actual friendship. This should feel weird, but Jess cannot help but realize that this feels a lot like life at the house on Locust Street., especially when Matt has stopped with Chris. Jess never thought he would enjoy this grand experiment but he does. He has even cast a wish on the first star at night like Maj always did, that this will last a bit longer. At this point, Jess does not want Tess to head back to Connecticut. He has grown quite comfortable in this arrangement and with the near-constant presence of Tess in his every day.
