Chapter 8: Fear [part 5]

Months had passed, and everyone were enjoying the harmony and peace in soul society.

Everyone seemed to be happy and contented.

But that peace didn't last, for a group of unidentified white cloaked people infiltrated the captain's meeting hall, to deliver the vice-captain of squad 1's dead body.

A threat.

A powerful and yet unknown enemy has arrived.

And it has something to do with the Quincies, the ones who were genocided by the shinigamis, thousand of years ago.

This caused the entire soul society to panic, but this time they were prepared.

After they had fought with the Espada, and other powerful enemies, they were now warmed up to fight unknown enemies.

Or so they thought.

For this enemies, were actually amongst them, just separated by illusionary wall.

And they never knew about it.

Rukia on the other hand, could not help but question the number of Rukongai residents that were reported as missing people.

But she could not do anything about it, as she was busy, training her subordinates to prepare them for the inevitable bloody war, that is to come.

This concern though, didn't go unnoticed by the captains, as the squad 12 were confronted about this, due to evidence of its involvement.

And the mad scientist, captain of 12th, just reasoned out that the soul were unbalanced, and thus he tried to balance it, by sacrificing souls from Rukongai.

This incident caused internal moral conflict among the captains.

Byakuya on the other hand, silently watched the banter among the captains.

Thinking how these issues will lessen cooperation among the shinigamis.

He could only closed his eyes, so as not to add fuel to the conflict.

Because personally, he strongly believes that all souls has to be protected from all types of harm, instead of being used as experimental sacrifice.

All for the greater good.
