(12:43pm) 29 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Outside Tony and Rachel's house
After Cassie and Rocco had got over the initial shock of Mr Braeburn being the father of Lee's baby and not Lucas, Matilda had decided to go and confront Lucas about it.
However, as the three teens entered the street, they spotted their teacher leaning against his car, Matilda approached him: "What are you doing here?"
"I've come to see Lucas." Steve Braeburn replies.
"Why, worried about your secret getting out?" Matilda quizzes him.
"I, I don't know what you mean."
"We know about Lee and the baby." Cassie tells him.
Rocco thought he would say something too: "So don't bother playing innocent."
"Guys look," Steve says as he looks around to make sure no one else can overhear the conversation "I'm not sure what stories they've been telling you…"
"How could you do that to one of your students?" Matilda demands to know "To your wife and your family?"
"I don't have to listen to this!"
"You're disgusting you know that." Cassie says to him.
Continuing what her friend had started to say, Matilda said: "And I can't believe that you were actually going to let Lucas take responsibility for your mistake!"
"That's enough." Steve cuts in stopping Matilda from saying anymore.
"You really think that you can tell any of us what to do after everything you've done?" Rocco said to him.
"You're a pig and I'm going to make sure that everyone knows." Matilda says ending the conversation.
As the three teens go to walk towards the front door, Steve grabs Matilda's arm: "Hey, don't you say a damn word to anyone!"
Trying to pry Steve's hand off his friend, Rocco states: "Get your hands off her."
Steve let's go then backs away, with that the three teens rush inside the house.
Summer Bay – Tony and Rachel's house – Living Room and Kitchen
"What was Lucas and Lee doing with Braeburn?" Tony asks Sally who had gone over after lunch to inform him of what she had seen.
"I don't know but whatever they were talking about, it looked pretty intense." Sally replied as she described what she had witnessed at the beach.
"Does Steve know she's pregnant?" Tony asks.
Having a quick think, Sally says: "I certainly don't think so."
Just then the door opens, and the three teens come rushing in.
"Hey you three, what's wrong?" Tony asks when Matilda rushes over to him.
"There's something I have to tell you." Matilda replies.
(1:00pm) 17 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Path Leading up the Beach Towards the Car Park
"So, what do you think Mattie is going to say, when you try to talk to her about it?" Lee asks Lucas as they walk up the path.
Swinging his arms before placing his hands in his pockets, Lucas answers: "I don't know."
Suddenly they hear a car and look up to see Steve Braeburn pulling up just ahead of them causing Lee to quickly move behind Lucas.
"I told you to keep your mouths shut!" Steve stated as he marches straight towards them as they move backwards slightly "But you couldn't do it could you, you stupid little…"
With that Steve makes a grab for Lee and manages to push Lucas to the ground in the process.
"Steve, don't." Lee says as he takes her by the arm and starts to drag her towards his car.
"Let her go." Lucas demands as he stands back up and tries to get their teacher off of Lee.
"I told her to get rid of…" Steve reminds him as he again pushes Lucas to the ground "the problem!"
"Please Steve." Lee begs as he continues dragging her to the car as Lucas just stands up and tries to think of a way, he can help Lee.
"You don't have to do this." Lee cries.
"Think about what you are doing." Lucas calls after Steve "This is crazy!"
Getting to the car, Steve opens the passenger side door, so he can get Lee in the car. However, before he succeeds there's a voice from behind him that didn't belong to Lucas.
"Hey!" Tony yells as he runs over to the car and grabs a hold of his co-worker.
Once Tony has a hold of Steve, Lee runs out of the car and straight over to Lucas, who pulls her into a hug.
(1:39pm) 39 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Tony and Rachel's House – Living Room and Kitchen
After the police had arrived and took Steve away, Tony and the two teens had eventually headed back to the house to talk.
Walking over to the sofa with a glass of water, Tony hands it to Lee: "Thank you."
"How are you feeling?" Tony asks her as he sits down.
"Yeah, okay, I guess. I just I can't believe he would try something like that." Lee replies.
"Well, the important thing is that you are safe now, okay." Tony tells her then looking at his son "And this is all out in the open."
"So, what happens now?" Lucas questions his dad.
"Well, Steve Braeburn is being interviewed by the police now and after that he has to deal with the Education Department."
"And there's definitely no way he'll be coming back to school or anything?" Lucas asks as he wanted to make sure that Steve couldn't get to Lee again.
"Aww, Luc I promise you mate, Steve Braeburn is in more strive than he can possibly imagine." Tony tells him just as Sally walks back into the room with the house phone in her hand.
"Your parents are on their way over now." Sally says to Lee after she had placed the phone back on the stand.
"How did they sound?" Lee asks her with a hint of worry in her voice.
"Ah, well I think they were just worried more than anything."
"Yeah, but they're not going to be when they hear the full story. They're going to want me out of there for sure."
Listening to her student, Sally tells her: "I don't think that's going to happen."
"You don't know them." Lee says.
"No, I don't but I do know that none of this is your fault. I'll make sure that they understand that too, okay." Sally then tells her "Everything is going to be fine."
Lee doesn't reply instead she just smiles.
Meanwhile…
Summer Bay – Leah and Dan's House – Living Room
While all that was happening at Tony and Rachel's house, at Leah and Dan's the house was quieter.
As Dan entered the room after checking on the boys who were playing quietly in their bedroom, he found his nephew lying on the sofa watching TV.
"You really wore the boys out this afternoon." Dan tells Drew.
"Yeah, and?" Drew asks in a way that says he doesn't see the problem with that.
"And they're going to sleep like babies tonight." Dan says.
Waiting a couple of minutes for an answer which never comes, Dan turns on his heel and exits the room.
Summer Bay – Leah and Dan's House – Kitchen
Walking into the kitchen he found both Leah and Ruby sat at the table talking.
"What am I doing wrong?" Dan asks his wife when she notices him.
"Don't try to take it personally." Leah tells him.
Sitting in the seat opposite Ruby, Dan replies: "It's like he's built this wall around himself and he's just trying to keep me out."
"If it helps Dan, Drew hasn't spoken one word to me since he got here last night." Ruby informs him as she takes a sip from her mug.
"I think the two of you are overreacting," Leah laughs "It's not that bad."
"Well, he didn't have a problem with Morag this morning." Dan states.
"Don't forget that he doesn't mind playing with Ryan and VJ." Ruby points out to them which has Dan nodding in agreement.
"Exactly and he doesn't have a problem with you Leah. So, it is kinda a bit like me." Dan said then noticed the look of the teen girl's face "And Ruby for some strange reason."
"Well, have you to tried putting yourselves in his shoes?"
"Leah, I know it's a lot to adjust to, but I just think he can try and make a little bit more of an effort."
"It's a bit more complicated than that I think."
Standing up to put her mug in the sink, Ruby asks: "How is it more complicated than what Dan just said?"
"Well, obviously he has regrets about his dad. Now we know that Drew rejected his attempt to get to know him and then to find out that he's dead."
"So how does that make both me and Dan the bad guys in this?" Ruby asks again.
"Because in Drew's head, Dan is the nearest person to Pete. So, all the hurt and confusion about his dad is now being focused on you Dan." Leah tells her husband then says to Ruby "And Ruby, you haven't really spoke to him since he got here."
"That's not my fault, I've been helping Casey."
"I know but he has probably thought that you don't want to talk to him, so he's not talking to you."
"Fine, I'll try and talk to him, but it will have to be later as I'm going to meet April at the beach." Ruby said as she picks up the bag which she had sat beside her chair.
"Good." Leah said before Ruby left.
Once she had left, Dan says: "How do you reckon I should handle it?"
"Just give him some time and you know he'll deal with it."
"Just keep taking that cold shoulder treatment he's dishing out?" Dan suggests.
Coming up with an answer she thinks would be good enough, Leah replies: "He'll get sick of it sooner or later. Once her deals with that anger."
Sighing, Dan puts part of his biscuit in his mouth and starts to think about the Drew situation.
(2:03pm) 24 minutes later…
Summer Bay – Tony and Rachel's House – Living Room and Kitchen
"So, you don't hate me?" Lee asks her parents as they sit beside her on the sofa "Really?"
"Of course, we don't." Lee's mum Anne replies.
"Why didn't you come to us in the first place?" Her dad Thomas asks her as he was confused by it all.
"I don't know, I just, I thought you would be so mad at me for being so stupid."
"Oh honey, the only one that we're mad at is your teacher." Anne says.
"Now, why don't we get you home." Thomas suggests which Lee nods her head to in agreement as the three of them stand up as well as Sally.
"I can't thank you enough for all of the support you have given Lee." Anne says to Lucas then everyone else "All of you, have been very kind."
"Yeah, we're just very glad that we could help." Tony replies with a smile.
Grabbing her bag, Sally tells them: "We'll head out with you."
Realising that Sally was talking about them two, Rocco got up and then helped Cassie up so they could follow Sally home.
Before leaving, Lee gives Lucas a hug: "Thank you."
Once everyone had left, Tony closes the door and turns to face both Lucas and Matilda: "Mattie, could you em, give Lucas and I a minute please?"
Matilda nods her head and leaves the room as Tony requested.
"I really wanted to tell you dad but Lee, she was so scared of what would happen to her and she felt like I was the only person that she could turn to." Lucas explains before Tony can say anything.
"Well, you just saw what happened there mate." Tony points out "Her parents were very supportive."
"Yeah, in front of us but who knows what they'll be like when she gets home."
"You really think they are going to give her a hard time?"
Lucas doesn't reply.
"Look, Luc I understand that you're just trying to help here but you know the other day, Steve Braeburn broke the law ok. I mean he took advantage Lee, and this is something that was way too big for you to try to handle." Tony points out to his son "For starters, keeping this secret was just allowing him to get away with what he had done and then there's also all the other people you have affected: myself, Rachel, Charlie and then there's especially Mattie. This has been pretty tough on us, especially with everything else we've had to cope with lately."
"I know and I'm so sorry but I just, I couldn't see a way out." Lucas replies.
"Luc, in many ways you have grown up a lot faster than many blokes your age but you're not there yet. You know, sometimes in life there are situations that none of us are able to deal with on our own and that's why I'm here for you. I'll always be here for you to talk to." Tony says before pulling his son into a hug.
As he gives his dad a hug, Lucas repeats himself as he starts to cry: "I'm so sorry dad, for everything."
