Loonatics: United

World of Chaos

Episode 95: Commonness

The Loonatics had returned to the apartment, Ace was flexing his wounded leg while sitting over the bed, gasping and groaning a bit, rubbing his shoulder as well. He had taken off his bodysuit in order to let Tech place the gauze and attend him better. Tech was kneeling down next to him. "Those guys are far smarter than I thought." Tech said, helping Ace move his leg up and down.

Ace gasped. "They caught us off guard."

Slam grunted, stating they were superior in number. He was laying in his sleeping bag.

"That´s true as well, big guy." Ace replied. "We´ll stop them for good next time."

"That should be enough." Tech gently let go off Ace´s leg and got onto his feet. "The wounds are healing fast, you´ll be good by morning."

Ace stretched and stood up while sighing. "Thanks, Doc." He walked towards his bag and took out his sleeping clothes then put them on.

"No problem." Tech replied. "Boss, uhm, how´s Duck?"

Ace sighed. "He is fine. He knows that´s how this is." He sat down on the edge of the bed, with a thoughtful glare. "There´s always the risk of doing more harm than intended." Ace switched his gaze to Tech. "And unfortunately, sometimes it´s necessary."

"Occupational hazard, right?" Tech commented.

Ace nodded. "Something like that." He laid down and got into the sheets, sighing and yawning.

Next morning, the team was having breakfast in the kitchen with Susan and her parents. They all had put on their bodysuits. "Quite a night, huh?" Ace said before taking a bite of his omelet.

"You can say that again, man." Duck responded, having some of his omelet as well.

"I wish I could´ve helped you yesterday, guys." Rev commented.

"Oh, Rev." Lexi placed a hand on his shoulder. "You were still healing from the last one."

"Yeah I know but I could´ve done some more effort and go anyway." Rev insisted.

Tech took a sip from his orange juice. "I contacted the owner of the fuel cells. He told me to meet him at the Helix monument."

"And where is that?" Lexi said before taking a bite of her omelet.

"He said it´s close to the warehouse." Tech replied.

"Alright." Ace cleaned his snout with a napkin. "So, what time does he want us there?"

"Five." Tech answered.

The team, Susan and her family finished their breakfast. "Well, I´m gonna take a nap." Duck said while exiting the kitchen.

"You just woke up." Lexi stated with an eyebrow raised.

"So?" Duck shrugged and headed to the living room, laying over his improvised bed.

"Susan, can we go to the balcony?" Ace asked.

"Oh sure, go ahead." Susan replied.

"Thanks." Ace said.

Susan winked at him with a smile. "No problem, our home is all yours." She walked away from them, heading to her room.

Ace took Lexi´s hand, they walked towards the sliding doors, Ace opened them and they exited to the balcony. Ace whistled by the amazing looks of the view. "Nice." They sat down on the white, minimalist sofa that faced the balcony´s railing. Ace looked at her and placed his hand on her face, moving the hair that partially covered her face gently. "But this is nicer."

Lexi chuckled softly while blushing, she put a hand on his arm and began to stroke it. "You´re not bad." She kissed him briefly.

Ace let out a brief chuckle. "We can still have our vacation, you know?" He stroked her face. "Even if we´re fighting those guys."

"Mhm." Lexi hugged him and kissed him again. "That shouldn´t be a problem."

"I agree." Ace kissed her cheek then her lips again. "Remember when we started dating?"

"How could I forget?" Lexi was lost in his eyes, just as he was lost in hers. "Years living under the same roof, with the same purpose." She chuckled. "Yet you took time to reveal you had a crush on me."

"And what did you say afterwards?" Ace raised an eyebrow. "I remember it well."

Lexi chuckled, blushing again. "That I had loved you since the day we met."

Ace kissed her again. "That was the happiest day in my life, Lexi."

"So was mine." Lexi stroked his back while caressing his cheek. "I love you so, so much."

"I love you too." Ace said, then they began to kiss each other.

Rev was in the visits room, talking with Tech and Slam. "So what are we gonna do until five? I´m getting quite bored."

"Well, I´m just gonna read a bit." Tech said while taking a tablet from his bag. "Fourth gen quantum physics."

"Light reading, huh?" Rev commented.

Tech chuckled. "Wanna learn a bit?"

"Are you kidding me? I know enough of quantum physics already." Rev replied, crossing his arms with an arrogant smirk.

"Oh, you sure about that?" Tech sat down over the floor, resting his back against the wall while looking for the book in his tablet.

"I could use a review, though." Rev sat down next to him.

Tech let out a brief chuckle. "Alright, let me find an easy lesson for you."

"So funny." Rev said with sarcasm.

"You know I´m kidding, pal." Tech replied then looked at Slam. "Wanna join us, big guy?"

Slam did a gesture of disinterest and growled negatively, then exited the room.

Tech looked back at his tablet. "I guess that´s a no."

"Is there a lesson about quantum gravity?" Rev inquired.

"Oh, looks like someone has done some research." Tech said, touching the screen, selecting a chapter that talked about Rev´s interest.

Slam exited the apartment, trying to look for a place to workout. He went down the stairs of the different floors and walked through the hallways in search for a gym or some place to exercise, but found nothing. He let out a sigh before exiting the building. While walking over the sidewalk, he looked around, hoping to find a public outdoor gym or something of sorts. He was very amazed with the clean, sharp looks of the buildings and other types of infrastructure.

His eyes widened when finally finding a public gym, it was inside a crystal clear building, only the roof and a couple of walls being of white concrete. Slam hurried towards there and entered the building. The intense air conditioning of the place gave Slam a refreshing feeling, he was fascinated with the equipment and machinery that was there, innovative and clean looking, seeing the people working out with strength and discipline. "Uhm, can I help you?" A young male tiger told him, who wore a black sport shirt and white shorts. He was ripped just as Slam, but his gaze was still amazed by his imposing presence.

Slam looked at the tiger, making him back away a bit. Slam asked him if he could use the gym as he was a guest in one of the apartments, with his signature growls and grunts of course.

"Oh, oh sure!" The tiger pointed at the reception´s bar. "Just fill in the register and I´ll show you the place!"

After Slam wrote down his data on the tablet over the bar, the tiger began to show him the gym´s facilities. They walked by the heavy equipment and the users that exercised there. Slam growled with doubt, stating he might be too much for those machines.

"Oh, don´t worry, pal, these things are designed to resist tons of weight!" The tiger said. "And there´s the pool if you wanna take a swim." He pointed at the mentioned area.

Slam nodded with approval while studying the looks of the pool, which was rectangular shaped and had black tiles. He asked him if they had a sparring zone.

"Yes, we got one. It´s in the second floor." The tiger replied. "Do you wanna see it?"

Slam growled, saying he would go there later, that now he just wanted to warm up and do some lifting.

"Alright! Have fun! If you need anything just call me." The tiger extended his hand. "Leeland."

Slam growled out his name, stretching the tiger´s hand.

"Woah, quite a grip!" Leeland chuckled. "Okay, Slam, see ya around." The tiger began to walk away but then stopped walking and looked at Slam over his shoulder, raising an eyebrow. "Uhm, you seem familiar, now that I think of it." Slam just shrugged. "Hmm, oh well, maybe it´s just me." Leeland finally left.

Slam looked around to find the treadmills, managing to spot them right away. They were at the bottom of the place, so he walked towards them and got over one. He turned it on with a touch on the screen and adjusted the speed to the highest, starting to run while inhaling and exhaling rhythmically.

Meanwhile in the apartment, Duck had woken up from his nap. He headed to the kitchen and found Declan and Sylvia kneading dough over the bar. "Oh, hey." Duck said. "Making cake or something?"

"Indeed!" Sylvia replied. "Wanna help?"

"Uhm, sure." Duck shrugged. "What do you need me to do?"

"Can you start making the icing?" Sylvia gestured at the other side of the bar.

Duck walked towards the bar, holding a jug of milk that was next to a big bowl with a pink colored powder. "I just..."

"Pour it there and mix." Sylvia winked at him.

"Okay." Duck did as Sylvia told him, starting to mix the icing with a metallic ladle. "Hey, this smells pretty neat."

"And wait until it´s on the cake!" Declan stated.
