As soon as everyone was done eating, I started getting bombarded with people asking me to be on their teams. Everyone might hate me but that didn't stop them from wanting to win.
"No," I said to every single person who asked me.
"Why won't you just play?" Damian asked when he finally got the chance to.
"Because, last time I played the other team didn't have a chance of winning even though there were only maybe, 20 people on the team. Then the other team got mad because they thought they were going to win since they had so many people on their team, and it was just a huge catastrophe."
"Oh come on Trish, just this game, pleeaase," Damian pleaded.
"No, it's not fair to the other team," I said.
"So you're not playing huh, too bad, I wanted to beat you," a girl's voice said behind me.
I turned to see the one and only Jazmin standing in front of me with her hands on her hips and two other girls standing behind her. "Hello Jazmin," I rolled my eyes.
"So… that comment that little girl made about how you killed your parents really hit a spot didn't it?"
"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!" I screamed. She just sneered at me, I ran at her but Damian caught me.
He picked me up by the waist and started to carry me away. "How about we get away from her," he muttered.
"So you just get your boyfriend to protect you instead of facing it yourself, good, 'cause we don't want you to hurt yourself, freak."
I saw Damian clench his jaw as he continued to carry me away. He put me down when we got out of sight. He tried to pull away but I clung to him, I dug my face further into his shirt. I felt him place his hands gently around me and sat his head on top of mine.
"Thank you," I mumbled into his shirt.
"For what?" He asked.
I pulled away a little so he could hear me better. "For not asking about my family, for always being by my side, for calming me down, everything." I dug my face back into his shirt.
"Well that's what I'm here for isn't it?"
"But why? Why did you save me and then stay with me? You could've easily just walked away by now, but here you are, hugging me behind some cabin. Why do you always stick up for me like that?"
"Well, like I said before, you are one of the most interesting people I have ever met, I knew that since before I got you out of the ice."
"You know what," I decided, "I am going to play in the game tonight, I am going to beat Jazmin."
"Well that's good," Damian said, as he placed his head once again on top of mine.
Thanks for reading. Sorry it's a bit short but I'm really trying to stay awake right now and I don't think I'll be able to keep going without falling asleep. Also I might now be able to post Friday because my family and I are traveling 4 hours to surprise my aunt for her birthday and I don't really know what I'll get into that day but I'll try to get a chapter out, I just thought I'd let you guys know.
