GUARDIAN

Today, Mai was at her extra lessons after failing two tests at school. Her parents threatened to send her to the coal mines if she did not shape up (an empty threat, but one nonetheless) and forced her to study instead of playing with her friends.

Therefore, Azula and Ty Lee were in the palace courtyard alone today.

The two eleven-year-old's both feared and adored their time alone together.

"Tell me a story," commanded Azula.

"Uhm. Okay." Ty Lee screwed up her face in concentration as she tried to think of one. Her expression softened as she at last did. "Once upon a time, there was a princess and her royal bodyguard. Her protector."

"The princess needs protecting?"

"Uh, no, but better safe than sorry, right?"

"Right. Go on."

"One day, the princess went missing. She ran away from an arranged marriage and simply vanished. Her parents and the whole army couldn't even find her. But her bodyguard knew she of all people could."

"Quite presumptuous of the body guard, but continue."

Ty Lee bought a little time to think with a deep breath and a swallow. Azula continued to gaze at her with a shocking amount of interest.

"Anyway, the body guard searched far and wide, until she finally found the tower where a dragon was keeping the princess hostage. The body guard began to battle the dragon, but suddenly the princess cried out that she loved the dragon and it was her friend.0

"Lovely twist."

"The body guard set down her weapons and touched the dragon to comfort it. It told her it was guarding the princess until someone truly worthy of her love came. The bodyguard climbed the stairs in the tower and kissed the princess. The end I guess."

"That's your ending? What happened after the kiss?"

"They got married and lived happily ever after."

Azula blushed as red as her clothes when Ty Lee said that, and Ty Lee awkwardly stared at the ground and plucked blades of grass.
