Modo and I arrived at the ballfield in about 15 mins. I had drove my SUV and Modo had rode with me. He wasn't in the right frame of mind to ride his bike, which is understandable. He lost his late wife, Charley Davidson-Maverick.
I noticed that both Sean and Seamus were waiting at the front of the ballfield. They were standing there. I noticed that they were both wearing biker clothes, which means they rode in on a motorcycle together.
I looked around the parking lot and saw a beautiful blue Suzuki Samurai 950. It was brand, spanking new, too. Like 2021, brand, spanking new.
I waved to my bros and they waved back. We hugged when I got closer. I missed my brothers since seeing them a few years ago at the concert.
"Sean, Seamus. I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, Modo. Modo, I'd like you to meet my brothers, Sean and Seamus."
They all shook hands then Sean looked at me with a scowl. I gave him the same look back.
"What is your problem, bro?"
"You're my problem, sis. You kept us at arms-length since the concert 3 yrs. ago."
"That's cause I've been going through some things. The one thing dad didn't tell you or didn't know, is that I was diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder. I've been taking my meds everyday, but this time it was my soon to be ex-husband's fault."
Then Seamus noticed the mark on my face. "You ok? That looks like it hurt."
Sean looked at my face and started to get mad. "Did your husband do this to you?"
"Yeah, but he said he doesn't remember. He was warned before we got married that if he hit me for any reason, I would divorce and leave him for good. I'm sticking to my word."
"I also warned him if he hit her, he'd answer to me. No woman should be hit, for any reason. I don't care if he doesn't remember her being at the scoreboard or not. Accident or not."
Seamus looked at Modo and tilted his head a bit. I looked over at Seamus.
"Modo thinks of me like a sister, guys. He doesn't like when I get hurt in any fashion."
"Good to know you have a good friend behind you."
I looked to Modo and smiled. "He's a very good friend. I'm glad to have him in my life."
Modo stepped up to me and hugged me. "I'm glad to have you as my dear friend, Michelle."

The 4 of us spent the next few days hanging out and talking. My brothers still can't believe that Throttle hit me, even if it was accidental, but they also knew I was doing the right thing by leaving him. I had told them that I don't know if he could "accidentally" hit me again at any time. I wasn't going to be a victim of spousal abuse.
"Where are you going to go now, sis?"
"Back to Cali, Sean. I have a home there that my parents left for me. I had been living there up 'til about 15 yrs. ago. My son, well, former son, Anthony, still lives there."
"Actually, Anthony moved out about a yr. ago, Michelle. I meant to call you and let you know, but things have been so hectic that it slipped my mind."
"That's ok, Modo. At least I can go back to my home in Cali now."
"He still lives in the same town and still doesn't want you around."
"Now, he doesn't have a say where I live. The house is in my name, not his. I don't care what he says now. Its not his choice where I live."
"I told him the same thing. I know he'll only be a Maverick on paper, but I was very disappointed in him since he disowned you. I've been trying to get him to change his mind about letting you back in his life and he flat out said that you can go jump off a cliff and die. His words, not mine. I would never wish that on anyone."
Both Sean and Seamus couldn't believe what they heard. They were beyond shocked.
"Our nephew said that? That's not how he should treat you, sis."
"I know that, Seamus. Believe me, I know. I plan to talk to him when I get back to Cali. I don't care how old he is, I'm giving him an ass whoopin'."
"Don't be rash, sis. Just talk to him. I don't think he needs to have an ass beating."
I looked at Sean with a glare. "Sorry. I know I shouldn't tell you how to deal with your son. I've seen too much abuse lately. I don't wanna see you abuse your son, sis. That's all I'm saying."
"Who all you know has been abused recently?"
Seamus looked away in shame and I happen to notice.
"Bro? What's going on?"
Sean spoke up. "His now ex-husband, Paul, had abused Seamus for most of their marriage. He called me to come get him."
I looked over at Seamus in total shock. Between the 2, Seamus has always been the badass. Every prank his twin would pull on him, Seamus always beat him down, but not seriously hurt him. Just a few bruises here and there.
"Is this true, Seamus? Paul abused you? You've never taken crap from anyone, so, why did you allow yourself to be abused? That's not like you."
Seamus looked at me with tears streaming down his face. I leaned over and hugged him. I felt for him. I wanted beat the wholly hell out of Paul for hurting my bro.
Modo cleared his throat and leaned back from my bro.
"What's up, Modo? Everything ok?"
"I just got a text from Rimfire. Christina was just attacked at the garage."
"Isn't Fourby working with her?"
"He had today off. Rimfire said the garage reeked of Plutarkian."
"Sounds like Brie moved into town and took over Limburger's tower."
Both Sean and Seamus looked at us strangely. Modo and I looked at each other then at my bros.
"Long story. Wanna come with us?"
"If you don't mind?"
"Not at all." Then I looked at Modo. "I know your new bike doesn't have any weapons, so do you mind riding with me?"
"Not at all. You taking Throttle's bike?"
"She's my baby now. Been mine since she started protecting me when he was forced to leave."
"But she still responded to him."
"I know, but I'm who she wants as her new rider. I love that bike. I'd do anything to keep her, too."
While Modo and I were talking, Throttle showed up at the ballpark. He was on foot, too.
"So, that's where you went. You and I need to talk. Now."
"There's nothing to talk to about. I signed the papers, gave back the ring and I'm moving back to Cali. Accident or not, you promised you would never hit me. You broke that promise. I told you what would happen if you hit me. I'm sticking to my word. Now, leave me alone."
Modo stepped up to Throttle and picked him up by his shirt. "I don't like how you're treating her, Throttle. I don't care if you don't remember hitting her or not. The point is, you did it. I won't tolerate that. I would suggest you stay away from her from this point on."
"You're not taking my bike, though. You can have everything else, but my bike."
"We'll let her decide who she wants to stay with. Like you said once, she's taking a liking to me."
"May the best mouse win."
I nodded then headed down to my car. Modo followed shortly after putting Throttle down. He stopped and turned around.
"I meant what I said, Throttle. Stay away from her. She doesn't need to be hurt any more by you. Just cut all contact with her and save her the heartache."
Then Modo turned back around and headed down to my car. My bros. followed us back to the house. We all waited for Throttle to walk back to the house.
While we waited, I finished packing. Modo helped me pack my things, too. Ty came into my room and asked what was going on.
I stopped packing and turned around. "Your father broke his promise, Ty. He hit me and left a nasty mark on my face. It's hard to tell, but it's slightly visible." Then I showed him the mark on my face.
"Dad did that?"
"Yeah, he did. He claims he doesn't remember doing it, but I think he does. Either way, he broke his promise to me. I signed the papers and took my ring off. I'm leaving your father, Ty. I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry, mom. You're doing the right thing, even if I don't like it or want you to leave."
"I'm not gonna make you choose who you wanna live with. You're more than welcome to come visit me anytime, Ty. I'm gonna try and talk with Anthony when I get back to Cali. He needs to understand that he doesn't make the rules any more. I let him have his way for this long, now it's time he realizes that he doesn't get to push me around any more."
Before Ty said anything else, we both heard weapons being fired outside. We both went outside to see what was going on.
We saw Throttle getting shot at by his bike. "Guess we know who the better mouse is."
I walked up to the bike and patted her tank. "Easy girl. Put your weapons away, girl. He's not a threat."
The bike put her weapons away and revved a bit. I patted her tank again. "We'll go for a ride shortly, girl. I have to finish some things first."
I walked back into the house, while Ty stayed outside and talked with his father. He wasn't happy that his father hit me.
"I can't believe you would hit mom."
"Like I told your mother, I don't remember doing it."
"Doesn't matter if you don't remember doing it, dad. Point is, you did hit her. I don't blame mom for doing the right thing by leaving you."
"I don't want your mother to leave, Ty. She knows what happens when the bond is broke."
Ty looked at his father strange.
"Do you remember when your mother and I were separated for a while and I wasn't myself? Well, your mother was worse. She nearly had the bond broke, 'til I found her in Utah. If I hadn't re-established the bond, she would have killed everyone in the stadium, including her opponent."
"Damn. I had no idea that the bond could do that."
"Another thing about the bond is that it will kill us once it's completely severed."
"Maybe I should convince mom to stay. I don't wanna lose either of you."
"I know you don't, Ty, but this is what your mother wants. I won't make her stay if she doesn't want to. I will ask Modo to take care of her. I will always care about your mother, Ty."
"I'm glad to hear that, dad. Mom told me that she's not gonna make me choose who I wanna live with. She told me I'm welcome to come visit her anytime."
"I won't stop you from visiting her, either. I want you to always have both of us in your life, Ty."
Ty hugged his father then they went inside to talk to Modo and I.

Modo and I were getting ready to head out to the garage to check on Christina since the break in an hour or so ago. Throttle and Ty had just walked into the garage as we were getting on our bikes."
"Before you and Uncle Modo leave, can the 3 of us talk, mom?"
I looked at Modo, who nodded at me, then back to Ty. I sighed. "Yeah, we can talk, Ty."
Then I looked back at Modo. "Can you go to the garage without me, Modo?"
"Is everything ok, Michelle?"
"Yeah, everything is fine. They just wanna talk."
"Alright. I'll let you know if I need you there."
"Ok. Just be careful. Brie is a certifiable nutcase and unpredictable."
"I'm very aware of that, Michelle, but thank you for the concern."
I smiled and nodded. I also told him he could take my other bike that my twin bros. brought.
"You sure?"
"Of course. Just be careful when using the weapons. They're more powerful than what you had on your bike."
"Good to know."
Throttle walked up to Modo and asked him to walk with him so they were out of earshot of me.
They walked a ways and Throttle explained everything and why he wants Modo to take care of me.
"She's my friend, Throttle. Of course I'll take good care of her. I do expect you to check in with me at least once a day so I know you're still alive. You're my best friend, Throttle. I've lost too many people I care and love. I don't wanna lose you too, bro."
"I give you my word. I will call once a day to check in. Just promise me that you'll take good care of Michelle. Cater to whatever needs she asks for. Even if it's a sexual need. And if you and her end up together, I know you'll treat her right like I did."
"I.."
"I know you're not ready to date again, Modo. Right now, she needs your friendship more than anything. I was just saying that if you 2 get together later down the road, I know you'll treat her right."
"I would never disrespect her or any woman, Throttle. You know that. Anyway, I need to get to the garage and find out how Christina is doing. She was attacked by Brie's goons."
"I'll go with you, then."
"Thought you and Tyrone wanted to talk with Michelle?"
"We do, but the safety of our friends also takes priority."
"Then let's get the bikes and head over there."
They walked back over to the open garage door and got on the bikes.
"What's going on? Thought you wanted to talk, Throttle?"
"I do, but I'm going with Modo to help Christina clean up from the attack by Brie's goons."
"My bros should be there as well. They said they were gonna give me a hand with Brie's goons."
"If they're there, that'll be great. We can always use the extra help. Sean and Seamus, right?"
"Yep. Have them give me a call when they can, too. I know they've been through a lot."
"Will do."
Then they got on the bikes and left. Even though I was divorcing Throttle, I still wanted him to be careful. I turned around and went inside the house. Ty followed shortly.

While I was finishing the last few boxes, Ty walked into my room.
"Can I help, mom?"
I stopped packing and looked up at him, smiled and nodded. Then I told him that he can start with the closet. It was nice of him to ask to help. I know he doesn't want me to leave. I have a feeling I know why, too. Throttle probably told him what happens when the bond is completely severed. I also noticed that he had been quiet since he started packing my clothes.
"You ok, Ty?"
He stopped taking clothes out of the closet and turned around to look at me.
"No, I'm not ok, mom. I know what severing the bond is going to do to both of you. Dad told me. I'm scared to lose you both."
I had him sit down on the bed, then I sat down next to him.
"I understand you're scared to lose us, Ty. I don't wanna do this, but I have to stick to my word. I'm not going to be a victim of spousal abuse. Your grandfather abused your father and grandmother in private and in public. He also came after me."
"Dad was abused? I didn't know that. He never told me that."
"He's a bit ashamed about it. Especially, since he couldn't help your grandmother cause he had been sent offworld."
"You're afraid that dad could end up like grandpa, aren't you?"
"Yeah, I am. I don't care if he doesn't remember doing it. He hit me, period. Have you heard from your grandfather?"
"Just yesterday. He started seeing someone new about a month ago. We did a video chat and she seems nice."
"But you're not sure about her yet, right?"
"Yeah. I'm glad he's in a new relationship, though. I know losing grandma was hard on him."
