"Wow, pregnancy looks great on you."
Olivia smiled and took off her heels. The last year had been hectic. Fitz was still pinching himself whenever he saw Olivia; which wasn't often now that he was an astronaut. He rushed to get home when his flight landed in DC. Olivia was still parking her car when the taxi dropped him off at their home. It was dark, and Olivia considered extending curfew until midnight. It was Saturday night. Amelia would love another hour out with Sophia, but she knew Karen was falling asleep. Maya was already calling Olivia wanting to know how long the twins would be out. She didn't want her kids out so late at night.
"Thank you."
"How was your photoshoot?"
"Great. How was space?"
"I'm glad to be back on planet Earth."
"You were so excited to go to the moon."
"Your pregnancy is more exciting than space travel."
"We're going to have to get a nanny for this baby. I can't film a limited series with a newborn."
"We're finally getting a boy."
"Karen is jealous."
Fitz laughed, "You think so?"
"She is really clingy."
"She's always followed you around the house."
"Karen literally clings to me. I have to pry her arms from around my waist. She's a pre teen, and she is still whiny. I guess it balances out. Amelia doesn't want to be anywhere near me."
"Is she still asking for a car?"
"Yes, and I'm still not getting her a car. I like her not having transportation. I don't want her to be like Sophia. That girl is wild."
"Are Bernadette and Julia still at our house in California?"
'Yes, and I'm still upset with Bernadette for leaving Sophia in DC for the summer."
"Sophia is not our problem."
"She's 16. Bernadette is an idiot for giving that girl a car and her whole house for the summer."
"Hey, that's not our problem. She'll be 18 in two years. It's obvious you and Bernadette have different views. Bernadette is getting Sophia ready to be on her own. You are overprotective with Amelia. Neither of you are wrong."
"I still wonder if I made the right choice quitting my teaching career. I really wish I could have been home more. They grow up so fast."
Olivia wouldn't have millions in the bank if she was still a teacher, but maybe she would be a better mom to Amelia and Karen. Fitz didn't complain about her schedule. They had an unusual marriage. He was always on space missions, and she was always flying to different states and countries for her acting career. Maya was always there to help with Amelia and Karen when Olivia wasn't in DC and Fitz was in space. Now that her kids were older, Olivia was starting the see the bad side of traveling for her career and leaving her kids during the school year.
"I think you made the right choice."
"Thank you."
"Our marriage is perfect for us."
"You're right about that."
Olivia cuddled next to Fitz on the sofa and closed her eyes. She wouldn't be too upset if Amelia was late for curfew. It wasn't every day that Olivia had time alone with Fitz.
