As the sun sank below the mountains, Benjiro slowed and scanned the area. Kouga and Kagome came abreast, stopping in confusion.
"We're close," Kouga lifted his head and sniffed deeply. "Only an hour or two away."
The other youkai nodded. "Are you planning to make your formal entrance tonight, sir?" He flicked a glance at Kagome's high skirt. "I assumed your mate would want to… change."
Kouga's brow creased in abject misery. Is this man trying to get me maimed?! She's going to lose it after the backpack! He didn't know what 'cavemen' were, but doubted the label was complimentary.
