To Kouga's overwhelming relief, Kagome turned her irritation solely on their guide.
"It's Ka-go-me," she enunciated, as if speaking to a small child. "I'm not an extension of Kouga, and don't need to be solely referred to as his mate."
"But you are, aren't you?" Benjiro asked, turning to gauge her.
The girl didn't bat an eye. "Yes, but where I come from, falling in love doesn't mean you lose your identity – or your name," she crossed her arms. "If this is how the Northern Tribe shows respect, I would be concerned about their future standing in the new clan."
